Writeblr Introduction
CURRENTLY IN GRAD SCHOOL AND WILL ONLY BE POSTING ON SUNDAYS UNTIL MAY 2023
Also apparently my intro is out of date again—
I’m Lyn! My pronouns are she/her. I’m a college student in my twenties, and I write low fantasy! All of my WIP’s are in the same universe.
I am currently posting Poisonous Medicine on Sunday’s! I have the first draft completed. It is in first POV and stars Min. Min had fled Arbia, a country that he faced extreme oppression, when he was thirteen with his family. His family didn’t make it, but he did. He currently is a refugee in Vira, and he continues to struggle with alcoholism and making friends. Ellen, a girl who reminds him of his sister Emiko, comes into his life. She’s an orphan with no friends, and she’s looking for someone who understands. This story is about their developing friendship, and coming to terms with their grief.
Poisonous Medicine is part of a larger series called We Lost our Sunshine.
The formatting of the series isn’t very traditional, but basically there are two types of books. Main books that star a large host of characters and are important to the overall plot, and books that focus on one or two singular characters.
For the Main Series, I have finished drafting the first book We Lost Our Sunshine. It is edited, and posted fully online. Link will be below. The second book Scattered Sunshine is in the process of the first draft. I am currently reformatting Part I and editing it, so I can move onto the other parts.
The first book is about a neighborhood family thrown into a desperate situation to save their little brother—and the multiple desperate acts they take to give him a better life. Eventually, it evolves into that same family trying to overthrow the government and make a better life for their people.
The second book is about that family being a refugee in Vira, they interact with Min. It takes place in three settings.
Arbia plot features Kai and some fourth caste friends he is earning the trust of. Kai is third caste and is part of the group that takes the resources from the fourth caste. He wants to break this cycle, and so he joins a band of fourth caste escapees and flees to the outskirts of Arbia. He finds something extremely important to his boyfriend, Azrail, and he works to fight for it.
Vira plot features Verity, Lao, Lee, Ray, Juni, Jing and Min. Verity, Lao, Lee, and Ray are all family. It is about their reunification, and their healing from previous trauma in Arbia. Juni is their travel companion, and he is adjusting to losing a limb while trying to gather aid for Azure, which he believes will face war. Juni had been previously forced to work with the main villain Cherine, but he escaped with Verity’s family. He now carries secrets and he’s working to eventually bring her demise. Problem is that he’s fourteen. After a tragedy in his town that he helped cause, Min is facing worse bullying than ever. He’s making friends with this family, who are working together with Juni to stop his bullies, mainly Jinora. Jing is a probation officer who takes Verity’s family and Juni under his wing. He also suffers from the tragedy in the town, and some people blame him. As he learns dangerous secrets will people listen before it’s too late?
Azure plot features Azrail and Ishnar. After one last romantic night with Kai, Azrail is swept away by his cousin, Cherine. He’s taken to Azure to spy on his previous boyfriend, Prince Ishnar. Can Azrail figure out his cousin’s plan in time to save the island from a war?
These three plots eventually tie in together at the climax of the story.
I post on Sunday’s and ask to be tagged! When I finish posting Poisonous Medicine, I will start Scattered Sunshine.
Here is the link to where you can find my series online! So far only We Lost Our Sunshine is there. When I fully edit Poisonous Medicine I will post it there too! Work is free and it can be found under Lynn Ellison. Don’t judge the cover art, I have yet to acquire drawing skills!
