I’ve been thinking a lot recently about what home really means to me. Webster’s Dictionary defines at home as “In harmony with the surroundings.” The familiar quote “Home is where the heart is” has been bouncing around my brain, and a commonly quoted passage from the Bible has also been taking up residence in my cerebral cortex (I had to google “function of the cerebral cortex” to make sure I was right, so that I’d look smarter). 

like waves 

                                     men and women                               dance

                                                                                                                              wild

shallow waters 

         moving 

                                                                                       as a tiny speck of 

light 

                                                                                that 

will

                     be seen from space                            all year. 

                                        the sum of thousands of 

                                                                                hours

                                                       who burn 

                                                                      on the eye

                                                        a little brighter.
