This morning I have a semi-day off (because I’ll still have to work in the afternoon) and guess what I’m doing? Of course I’m studying! 😆😆😆 Ah, it will kill me someday. Next week I have the foreign language teaching exam. It is about the methods of foreign language teaching and the problems the students may encounter. I plan to teach English as a L2, and it’s mandatory to take this exam to know how to do the job. Many professors don’t know how to teach in general, and teaching a foreign language is not easy, maybe it’s even harder than teaching another class. Students start from scratch/beginner level and they’ll have to learn a second language that is entirely different from their L1, which, in my case, is Italian. If you know Italian, you may know that it’s a Romance language while English a Germanic one. Arguably, Italian language is harder because it has a lot of conjugations and grammar which it’s simplified in English. But still, many students aren’t able to learn English in Italian schools. I’m also taking the teaching Italian to foreign students exam so I can also teach my mother-tongue to people with Italian as a L2 or bilingual people.
