Hands shifted, sliding over cool sheets until they landed at her waist, fingers that werenβt her own rested at her hip, holding her close. It was a hold that was hard to escape, the fingers moving from one hip to the one she was laying on, keeping her in a warm embrace that made her melt back down into bed, not wanting to leave. Instead of putting up her usual fight in the California King bed, the twenty five year old rolled over, nuzzling her face against her husbandβs neck, closing her eyes as she breathed him in. Will smelled like soap and the faint lingering of weed β the two sharing a joint the night before while enjoying what seemed to be half the menu from Taco Bell. Full lips puckered, pressing to the base of his neck, taking all the time in the world to just bask in the sunlight that streamed into the master bedroom. Chocolate brown hues glanced over at the corner of the room, the brown boxes seemingly screaming at her to unpack them, the red tape used to seal them almost blinding her as the sun reflected off of the tape. Nikoletta weighed her options as she gazed over at the box, her left arm draped over her sleeping husband as she rested her chin on his chest, but all options were thrown away when the sound of her son, laughing softly, came from the baby monitor. Smiling small, she pressed a fleeting kiss to Willβs jaw before quickly prying herself form his grasp, pulling on a discarded shirt she picked up off the floor as she moved towards their closed bedroom door. The alarm for morning coffee had already gone off and as she walked barefoot down the wooden hallway, still impressed with the house that was built for their family, she pushed the door to the nursery wide open. βGood morning, baby boy.β A smile stretched across her face as she looked across the room at Liam whom was petting their eldest dog, Tyson, through the bars of his crib.
βMa-muhβ¦β He trailed off, clapping his hands and using the bars to help himself stand up so he could reach for her. Scooping him up under her arms, she brought him to the changing table, her lips pressing to his repeatedly just to listen to him laugh. Having your child be happy, laughing and excited to see you was something unlike any other feeling that Nikoletta had ever experienced before. Discarding of his diaper and putting a fresh one on along with a onesie and a pair of little sweat pants and socks to keep him warm, she watched him continue to clap, his head to the side to watch the dogs gather around the changing table. Even when she was pregnant, Tyson and Loki were protective of her stomach, usually barking at strangers who would get too close or doing a low growl as a warning when even her friends or husband would rub her stomach. That only carried over when Liam was brought into the world, the two dogs barely ever leaving his side β night or day. Scooping him back up, he brought his little fingers to his mouth, his gums pressing down on them to find some sort of comfort while he was going through his teething. Grabbing a pacifier off his dresser on her way out, he eagerly grabbed for it, inserting it into his own mouth.
βThatβs a good boy.β Her lips pressing to his forehead as she walked into the living room, placing Liam down in his play pen where a couple of his blankets were laying as well as the toys that made the least amount of noise so Will could rest. Turning to go into the kitchen after putting some cartoons on, eager hands reached out for the fresh pot of coffee, a mug already out and waiting for her. Pouring a hefty amount, Nik went about pouring some cream and sugar into it, pulling a spoon out to mix it with before giving it a taste test. Humming softly, she cupped the cup of caffeine close to her chest as she pulled out some Gerber baby food, searching for a plastic bowl and plastic spoon to put it in once it was time for breakfast. Leaning back against the counter, her brown hues looked over the scene of the dogs laid around the playpen as if guarding it, keeping Liam safe as her son rubbed at his eyes. The little boy definitely took after his parents when it came to the countless naps, something the new parents were thankful for. βCome on, Li.β Nik mumbled, taking a long sip of her coffee before moving to pick her son up, taking him back into her bedroom to join Will in bed. Setting the boy down on one side of the bed, Nik laid between them, both quick to have a hand on her, leaving her smiling up at the ceiling.
Things werenβt always perfect β it was the little things such as being clung to, by both her husband and son, and how her mornings always started out so flawless that left her only ever looking forward for the future. It might even seem like a boring morning to most people, but it was everything to her. Β As she closed her eyes, ready to go back to sleep for another hour or so, she could only think about how lucky she actually was.
