im writing canon divergence for purely selfish indulgence where after the dangerously turbulent flight shane throws himself into ilya's arms at the airport!!!! and then the forced coming out is more like accidentall coming out. and the team reacts with 'are you going to play badly every time your boyfriend almost dies' and shane sees red and quits on spot unlike the very unrealistic 'did you trip on purpose' (like be fr shane won them several cups) shane would blow up the world for ilya and tlg reads like ilya is more invested in their relationship than shane is which in a way i get because it's from ilya's pov and he feels that way but i want to write/explore shane's pov more.

shane not understanding what upset ilya till he sees his very visceral reaction to the 'would you choose hockey over me' him still not getting why ilya doesn't see that to him there is no ilya without hockey and that there can't be any hockey without ilya hockey is what brought ilya to him shane driving back home when ilya asks him to leave ilya realising he was expecting shane to read between the lines and stay even though ilya asked him to leave shane calling his parents like 'uh i think ilya is....' weird? off? sick of him? none of those seem right. shane skipping practice which he never does to drive back because all he wants is to show ilya he's his first priority shane giving up on trying to figure ilya out knowing he keeps things to himself because he doesn't want to bother shane and just calling svetlana her helping shane understand that ilya is suffocating in the closet the airplane turbulence near crash happening and ilya being so scared (he's always been scared of flying but he's sucked it up) he asks shane to be there at the terminal and backtracking with a 'sorry is stupid idea' text shane sitting in his car in the airport parking hands shaking at the thought of a ilya less life throwing himself into ilya's arms in public at the airport where at least three people recognised and filmed them a few montreal metros cracking some stupid joke about shane messing up his shots every time his boyfriend almost dies shane seeing red and quitting on spot hayden being like 'not cool man' shane telling the press he wants some time off to rest and recuperate the interviewers asking them if it's about ilya and shane just vague answering shane renting out a ice rink so him and ilya can have a skate date for fun without any of the pressures from practice shane proposing by saying 'you'd get canadian citizenship also i want to be beside you till i die' ilya tearing up shane being like 'i bought rings i don't know if you'll like then but they're the only ones that felt comfortable on my fingers' and ilya saying he'll wear them forever and never take it off shane going 'i don't think that's hygienic' because he doesn't get hyperbole and ilya being so consumed by love he fucks shane in their skates ilya wearing the ring besides his necklace the small fun wedding that DID NOT have fuckass diamonds by rihanna playing thank you very much the end
