This image popped into my head, and since I can't draw (well), I decided to write out the written equivalent of a sketch. I hope the concept delights you as much as it does me.
Takes place after the Horizons timeskip.

According to Dotâs geotracker, the next place where wild pokĂŠmon would be made to go berserk was here: a remote forest on one of the Sevii Islands. Getting there had been no small feat, without the Brave Asagi to help them; but they had managed it, and now there they wereâLiko, Roy, Dot, and Capâwatching an airship belonging to the Explorers descend on the forest clearing.
âThis is it,â Roy said; Liko couldnât tell if he was speaking quietly, or if his voice was drowned by the shipâs engines. Either way, his fists were balled so tightly his whole body was shaking. âWeâve got him now.â
Liko turned to Dot, whose eyes were glued to her Rotom Phone screen. âDot, youâre sure Spinel is on that ship, right?â
Dot nodded. âPositive.â She swiped the data sheâd been examining off her phone screen, and allowed it to zip back into her pocket.Â
Liko took a deep breathâsomething of a feat, given how strong the wind was blowing in the clearing now as the airship touched downâand nodded. Roy was right, then. This was it. They would ambush Spinel here, and stop him from hurting any more pokĂŠmon with Rakurium. And that wasnât allâthey would get him to admit the truth about the Rising Volt Tacklers, too. Exactly how they would do that, Liko wasnât entirely sure; but they had done the hard part of getting to the forest in time enough to ambush Spinel, and so she was sure if they just stuck it through now, everything would be all right.
A ramp shot out from the bottom of the airship, colliding with the grass with a dull thud. A moment after it connected a door at the top of the ramp slid open, and out steppedâ
It took Likoâs brain a moment to catch up with why her heart stuttered to a stop in her chest, or why Cap loosed an outraged cry from his place in front of them. Because the person descending the ramp was Spinel; she easily recognized him not only from their past encounters, but also from seeing his face plastered all over the news. He had the same dark teal hair, the same glasses framing his oddly colored eyesâeven the same sharp suit underneath his jacket.
Noânot his jacket. The jacket that adorned his shoulders, that was honestly too big for him and so didnât fit well, was a pilotâs jacket, brown leather with golden fleece lining, an aviation patch over the left breast, and one patch emblazoned on either sleeve: a charizardâs face on the left, and a charizardâs wing on the right.
It was Friedeâs jacket.
âWhere did you get that?!â Roy demanded, as Spinel came to stand before them on the grass. âTake it off!â
âHm?â Spinel glanced down at the jacket as though it was his first time noticing it, and a little smile curled his lips. âI admit it isnât the best fit, but that is what happens when clothes come secondhand; I wanted to give it a spin before deciding whether to have it tailored or not.âÂ
âTailored?â Dot said, her voice barely audible over more furious yelling from Cap. âItâs not yours! Give it back!â
Spinelâs smile didnât falter. âIt is now. The previous owner has no need of it anymore; why let it go to waste?â
That was enough for Cap. His fur, which had begun crackling with electricity the second Spinel stepped onto the ramp, flared to life with a vicious burst as he shot forward with a scream of rage.Â
But Spinel was unfazed. He took one step backward, and in the same motion pulled a pokĂŠball from his belt. He opened it without throwing, a large pokĂŠmon materializing in front of him in the same moment that he deftly skipped to the side, sparing himself but allowing the pokĂŠmon to take the full brunt of Capâs Volt Tackle.
No, Liko corrected herself, not just âthe pokĂŠmon.â A charizard. And not just a charizard, butâ
âChar!â Liko, Roy, and Dot yelled in unison, as Capâs Volt Tackle slammed Char into the side of the airship, a pained cry ripping from Charâs throat as the electricity seized his wings in odd angles before he crashed back to earth. Cap panted heavily, eyes wide and horrified as he stared at Charâs crumpled form by the base of the airship. Spinel, on the other hand, smirked with bare satisfaction.
Likoâs palms were damp with sweat as she balled them into fists. Spinel was wearing Friedeâs jacket. Spinel had Char, and had used him as a shield against Cap. Friedeâs jacket was one thingâLiko couldnât remember him without it, but it wasnât completely unreasonable to think he might have parted with it for some reason. But Char . . . Char was Friedeâs very first partner. Char was the only pokĂŠmon Friede had a bond with that was comparable to his bond with Cap. Char was . . . Friede wouldnât . . .Â
There was an answer sat smack in the middle of Likoâs mind, huge and bright like a neon sign. She deliberately turned her eyes away from it to look at Spinel instead.
âWhere is he?â she demanded. Her voice shook even as she fought to keep it steady. âWhere is Friede?â
Spinelâs smile grew, delight sparking through his eyes. âWhere he belongs. Now,â he tapped the screen of his Rotom Phone, and loud whirring resounded through the clearing as four large smoke cannons emerged from the roof of the airship, âshall we begin?â

The top of the letter has been punctured by small, sharp teeth, leaving most of a beloved name and a few sentences chewed beyond reading.
Fir,
I fear the puppy started on this letter shortly after I did. Iâd start over, but I must send this tonight if itâs to reach you. Matters are settled here, and I make for Tevinter as soon as possible.
I almost believed chaos might spare us this time. I canât say I wished to see Minrathous before now, but I am eager to see you. I long to see your face and know that you are all right. The days pass more heavily without you here, and you are missed beyond words, I miss you.
I heard from Merrill that Nuria and Halia are thriving in Rivain, though I still catch myself worryingâ are they eating enough, are they happy, are they listening at all to their aunt? I donât doubt theyâre running circles around her and perhaps giving her a few more grey hairs, but I know theyâre in the best hands. Still, I ache to hold them, to hold you. I think of Sarai constantly, her tiny hands reaching up, her gaze so trusting. She is still too small to be away from us, and it pains me to know she is not with you. My heart hasnât known such an ache in all its years as it has this time apart from all of you.
You are
Ive
Thereâs
I wish I were better at putting into writing all thatâs in my mind, but for now, simply know that I love you. It is the most cherished constant of my life. I know the days ahead will not be easy. I know there is much you carry, more than many realize but whatever you must face, you will not meet it alone. You have my sword, my counsel, myâ Maker, I could write this list forever when all I mean to say is thisâ
Whatever you need of me, I am yours. I long to have my family together again, I will see us together again, no matter the fire and brimstone that may rain down on us.
Forever and always in my thoughts until my eyes gaze upon your peace again,

THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF ZELDA-CHAPTER 15 THE DREAM/PART 4 I HAVE BEEN WORKING MORNING, NOON AND NIGHT FOR 3 DAYS TO GET THIS âEMERGENYâCHAPTER OUT TO YOU. IF YOUâVE NEVER COMMENT ON MY WORK BEFORE, NOWâS THE PERFECT TIME TO START BECAUSE AS A WRITER AND A SPELLWOOD FAN, IâM FEELING FRAGILE RIGHT NOW. -THANKS, LYNEZELDA
âNo! Oh dark mother, please, no!â Faustus Spellman jolted up in bed, pushing the bedspread off his naked chest which now heaved up and down with heavy breaths. Â Faustus was unaware of just how sweaty he was until he buried his face in his hands.
âHoney? What is it? Whatâs wrong?â
Faustus looked up to see his Zelda, in her eyes he saw concern for him. âZelda, come no closer! Donât make me hurt you more! Please, I beg of you, stay away!â Faustus moved from middle of the bed to the end. 1 moment he felt the mattress beneath his hand, another moment there was only air. Faustus prepared himself for the fall, only it never came, for Zelda had rushed to his side, pulled him up and in an effort to comfort him, tried to put his head on her chest, which made him very confused. He fought her. âZelda! Â Get away from me while you can!â
Still, Zelda was worried. âDarling? Hush now, canât you see that you just had another nightmare?!â
Faustus shook his head. âIt wasnât,â He insisted. âIt was too real this time.â
Zelda tried again. âWhat did you dream about? Walk me through it, all that you can remember.â
Faustus sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. âIt was like no time had passed. I was struck inside Blackwood, who of course, trying to hurt you and the coven. I just canât escape it, can I? I truly am evil!â
âTry to focus, Faustus. Please tell me what happened.â
âI founded another church. The Church of the Night Pilgrims.â
Zelda shook her head. âThere is no such church. I would know, as an ordained high priestess, I have a current list of all the worldâs covens. I can show it to you if like.â
âI won Mary Wardwell to my cause!â He said firmly.
âImpossible for 2 reasons!â Zeldaâs reply was just as firm. âMary Wardwell would never abandon her faith that easily and secondly, you never properly meet that mortal, only once when you with stuck in Blackwood.â
âI freed the Eldritch Terrors. Â I did!â He insisted when Zelda only sighed. Â âAll 8 of them, the darkness, the uninvited, the weird, the perverse, the cosmic, the return, the endless and the void. I also almost ruined Hildaâs wedding with the uninvited.â
Zelda pleaded gently by putting her hands on his chest. âYou have warned us about the Terrors ever since you spilt from the curse. We have taken all the precautions but not 1 terror has shown up yet. Itâs been 13 years and waiting. Â You didnât ruin Hildaâs wedding. You escorted her down the aisle after saving her groom from armed robbers. The 2 of you have been best friends ever since remember? Darling, please, you have to stop!â
But Faustus couldnât stop; He was afraid if he stopped talking, he would give into the tears that were just below the surface and then he would never be dried eyed again. âOh, and Lilith gave birth to a boy and called him Adam.â
âEasy fix. Lilithâs son is named Alexander and shortly after his birth, she met a man called Adam who was working for Emperor Blackwood. You just got your wires crossed on that 1.â
Rather than calm down, Faustus stiffened. âOh goddess! Emperor Blackwood! Even if I had the power, why would I go around arresting witches? It makes no sense! For goddessâs sake, Iâm a witch myself! And why would I spent so much time and energy to get rid of Sabrina? Sheâs such a sweet girl and we have made our peace.â
Zelda listened patiently. âYes, I agree with you about Sabrina, but I have no idea what else youâre talking about. Blackwood took the title of Emperor when he stole Elizabethâs throne, not you. As for arresting witches, well, my love, that simply never happened.â
âWhat of the weird sisters?â Faustus demanded.
âTheyâre fine,â Zelda assured him. Â âPrudence, Dorcus and Agatha are all fine.â
âNo. Agatha was insane and was murdered by Prudence and Dorcus.â
âYou cured Agatha of her insanity years ago and then all was forgiven, for her and for you.â
âAnd the other sisters?â
âWhat other sisters?â Asked a confused Zelda.
âWell, for 1, Rosalind Walker.â
âWhat?! Rosalind is a seer, not a witch. Never was, never will be.â
âAnd Mambo Marie? Or Baron S-something, as he turned out to be. He was a lord of the underworld, who was still in love with you.â
âWhat? Poppycock! Mambo Marie is still living in New Orleans. We know that because she got married last month. Prudence went to the wedding and we sent her off with a gift. Hecate, Faustus, you signed the card. We all did! I just got a lovely thank you card from Marie and her new wife the other day. Anyway, it doesnât matter because I love you.â
âWell, you shouldnât!â Faustus jumped away from the bed and from Zeldaâs gentle touch. The tears finally started to fall. âI killed Sabrina! Or I helped her to her death when I tried to sacrifice her to the void so I could have it power for myself. You tricked me which made me blind and later, Prudence took a chainsaw, cut off my limbs and buried them at the 4 corners of the world and you were both right to do it!â
Zelda calmly got off the bed and went to her husband. âI donât know what the void is, but I do know that Sabrina is fine. Yes, she is!â Zelda stressed when Faustus shook his head violently. âIn fact, right before I came back in here to check on you, I just off the phone with her. Sabrina just got final approval for her new office and she wanted me to thank you.â
âSabrina thank me? Whatever for?!â
âPerhaps because you helped her find the place? Or because you co-signed for the loan. Or because you gave the idea to be a therapist in the 1st place?â
âI did?â
âYou did.â Zelda confirmed. âWhat about the other things you said? Are you blind now?â
âOnly by my tears.â Faustus mumbled.
Zelda gently wiped his eyes for him. There. Now, what do you see?â
âWhat I always see when I look at you. The most beautiful woman, witch or mortal, in all the realms.â Zelda smiled at him and it would have been so damn easy to give in. Faustus wanted so badly to believe he could be this great guy who would live with this goddess who had owned his heart forever. Â He leaned in to kiss her but turned away at the last second. âNo! I canât! If I can dream all this, then I must still be dangerous.â
âFaustus- â
âZelda, Iâm going to leave now and you must promise me that if you ever even hear the name of Faustus Blackwood, you will run the other way!â
âAlright, I will.â
It broke his heart completely to hear her agree but it was for best. However, he only half turned before he felt Zeldaâs hand on his arm.
âYou know; Faustus Blackwood no longer exists. You are Faustus Spellman and thisâ Zelda leaned over and took a framed picture from the nightstand. âis Faustus Spellmanâs family, taken not even 2 weeks ago.â
Faustus looked at the photo. They were all there. Him, Zelda, Hilda, Dr. C, Sabrina, Ambrose, Prudence, the twins, Judith and Ju-no, their names were LJ and Jake now. They were all smiling and happy. Then Faustus saw a face that was not in his dream at all. âCordelia?â
âOf course, Cordelia.â Zelda smiled. âOur 12-year-old is probably downstairs right now, eating cereal and watching TV, like she does every Sunday. I love you, and I wonât let you throw away 13 years of your hard work to be mentally well. It was all a dream, Faustus. It means nothing. Everythingâs fine. I really hate that itâs been over a decade and Edwardâs curse still has the ability to haunt you like this.â
Faustus couldnât quite hide a little smile. He was touched beyond words how Zelda thought of it as Edwardâs curse, not his own. Still, he wasnât sure. âHow can I know that this isnât the dream?â Faustus wondered. âWhat if Iâm still stuck inside Blackwood?â That thought terrified him.
âBlackwood has been gone and buried for the last 12 years. Still, if you have to be convince that this isnât a dream.â
âOw,â Yet he smiled when Zelda pinched him.
His wife raised her eyebrow. âNot enough? Okay.â Zelda leaned forward and kissed him deeply.
During the kiss, Faustus felt Zelda unbuttoning his shirt. âWhat are you doing?â
âChecking,â Zelda said matter of fact. âEarlier you mentioned Prudence cut your limbs off. If that actually happened, you would have scars.â She lowered his shirt and kissed around his shoulders. âNo scars here. Wait, I need to check on something.â
âWhere are you going?â
âOn the night we buried Blackwood, I had to save your life with a binding spell. Which means that if you have a mark on your body, I have it on mine as well.â Â Zelda explained as she went to look in the mirror.
Faustus came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her middle. âI was beheaded too, but your neck seems fine.â Â He gently brushed her hair aside and began kissing her neck.
âWhat about my shoulders?â
Faustus was still kissing her neck when he tugged off Zeldaâs silk robe and let it fall to the floor. Then 1 at a time, he pulled down the straps of her nightgown. âNothing here,â he reported. He claimed her lips with his own and then kissed her brow. âYou know; I did say all 4 limbs.â Zelda felt a delightful shiver as Faustus let her nightgown fall to the floor. His long arms felt the front of her until he got to the limbs of her thighs. His fingers made quick work of her underwear, letting them fall as well. âYou are perfection.â He whispered as he touched the most secret part of her.
As soon as she was able, Zelda turned around. âNow that Iâm all checked out, letâs finish with you.â The pretense was dropped entirely after that, just like Faustusâs pants. They tumbled backwards onto the bed, clinging tightly to each other as they made love.
âI love you, Zelda.â
âI love you, Faustus.â
Faustus fell asleep quickly after their lovemaking. It was no surprise to Zelda. After all that dreaming in the night, he must have gotten very little rest. She kissed his forehead and whispered, âSleep long, sleep sound. Let no more dreams come around.â Happy with her spell, Zelda got up, got dressed and started the phone calls.
Faustus awoke to the sounds of a busy kitchen. 1 look at the clock told him he had slept the day away. Just taking a shower and getting dressed made him feel better. He went downstairs and the 1st thing he saw was the weird sisters, who were setting the table.
Prudence looked up first. Although Faustus felt weary, her eyes and her smile were welcoming. âHello, Father.â
âHello, Mr. Spellman.â Agatha and Dorcus said together, in that unique weird sister way.
It was oddly comforting. âHello, girls.â Faustus was still smiling when he felt a pat on his back.
He looked beside him to see Dr. Â C. âHey buddy! Zelda called and said you had a rough night. We thought a nice family dinner would make you feel better.â
Faustus remained speechless but he walked into the kitchen with Dr. C. Then he saw the steel wrist band on Dr. Câs arm. âYou still have the incubus?â
âOf  course. Why wouldnât I?â
âUhâŚnever mind.â
They reached the kitchen where he saw more Spellmans readying dinner. Well, most of them. Ambrose was leaning against the island, casually reading a book and dipping his free hand into a food bowl, until LJ slapped his hand away.
âFather! Youâre finally up, sleepyhead!â Jake tossed him a teasing smile as he carried the chopped carrots to the stove and dropped them into the pot that Hilda was stirring.
âHey Dad,â the childâs comment was casual as she walked by him, carrying a side dish, bound for the dinning table. However, Faustus had to reach out and touch her, afraid she would disappear right before his eyes.
âCordelia! Â Youâre real!â
Her face, exactly like Zeldaâs, clouded over in confusion. âThanks? So are you?â
He watched her walk away and for the 1st time, Faustus thought that perhaps Zelda was right, perhaps it all had been just a dream! Then Faustus saw something that made his heart drop into his stomach. A very  much alive Vinegar Tom got off his dog bed and went to his food bowl. Of course, he had no problem with the dog being alive. Heaven, when he first heard of the familiarâs death, his gut instinct was to run and comfort Zelda, yet he couldnât because he was still married to Constance at the time. No, the problem was that Tomâs life was Marieâs final gift before returning to the underworld. If that part of the dream was real surely everything else was real too.
Faustus was still trying to sort fact from fiction when an arm came around his waist and Zelda kissed him. âFeeling better, darling?â
âVinegar Tom is alive?â
âYes.â
âHow?â
âDonât you remember?â
âHumor me, dearest, please?â Faustus begged.
âWell,â Zeldaâs voice lowered to a whisper. âAs you know, I cried hardest for Tom on his birthday and you always do your best to comfort me. But 3 years ago, when she was 9, Cordy must have heard us for later, when we went downstairs, we found her petting Tomâs stuffed form.â
âYes!â The memory struck Faustusâs brain like lighting. âI managed to get Cordelia out of the room, but you called me back a moment later, Vinnie was alive. We didnât know how to explain it to Cordy, so you kept Tom at the academy for a few weeks. When Vinnie came back, we told Cordelia that he was a new dog, named Vinegar Tom as tribute.â
âYes! Thatâs exactly what happened.â
Faustus was smiling at his wife when his feet felt warm. He looked down to see Vinnie sitting on his shoes. He picked up  the dog and, together with Zelda, petted him. âIâm glad you have your soul mate back.â
âIâm glad I have both my soul mates back.â
âYou said that to me before. The night VT came back.â
5 minutes later,  with everyone around the table, Faustus finally realized who was  missing. G  He was about ask when the front door opened.
âHi all. Sorry Iâm late.â
Before he realized he was doing it, Faustus ran to her and hugged her. âSabrina!â
âHi Uncle Faustus. Nice to see you too.â
âYour tongue! For the love of Hecate, please show me your tongue!â
âO-okay.â Sabrina spit out her tongue.
âPink and normal. Yes!â
âWhatâs with him?â Asked Sabrina.
Zelda came up behind her husband. âYour uncle had an awful dream last night. Iâm afraid heâs still recovering.â
âOh, well, donât worry, itâs just a dream.â Sabrina kissed his cheek.
Faustus was still feeling his cheek when Zelda took his hand and led him back to the table. â1 more question, have any of you ever felt like you ever on a tv show?â
I woke up this morning wanting Anakin to throw Obi-wan over one shoulder and run away screaming âmine!âÂ
Donât care if heâs Sith. Donât care if heâs Jedi. Could be an AU in any other time or place.
I just want Anakin to be utterly enamored (and recognize it immediately rather than spend countless decades thinking about and talking about âObi-wan this, Obi-wan thatâ). No - jump to the âoh my god, this adorable, intelligent, heartbreakingly sacrificing man will destroy himself for the âgreater goodâ or âto make me/someone else happyââ and just go âF thatâ and steal him away.Â

This is for @lurkingwhumpâ, @unorthodox-oblivionâ, @guadalajara92â and all the rest of you who were pissed about Janeâs magic Wolverine healing abilities.Â
This is for my @badthingshappenbingoâ square âinfected woundâ
Please let me know what you think đĽ°
Kurt felt Jane sag against him, the echo of her scream of agony still ringing in his ears. His heart had plummeted when the other clue hunters had shown up. He knew Jane was in no physical state for hand to hand combat. She had fought well, but had slightly miscalculated a block and the hunter had managed to get a blow in. They had hit her in the side, hard, and Jane had cried out in pain before crumbling to the ground.Â
Kurt had been caught up with his own hunter but became distracted at her cries of anguish, giving the hunter the opportunity to overthrow him. Knowing that Jane was incapacitated, the female had come over to help the male tie Kurt to a chair. They hoisted Jane out of her hunched position, tying her to her own chair. For good measure, they then wrapped the duct tape around the two of them, before leaving, making escape seem impossible.Â
âHow are you going back there?â Kurt asked worriedly, while he tried to rub the duct tape on a jut in the ledge.Â
Janeâs only reply was to groan in pain. Her side was on fire and she could see she was bleeding again. Her eyes fell shut again, her vision flashing, making her feel dizzy and queasy.Â
âJane?â Kurt asked, her lack of response driving daggers into his heart. âTalk to me.â he pleaded. He knew she was in bad shape.Â
âIâm ok.â she rasped, though the crack in her voice had Kurt on edge. He needed to get her out of here.Â
He carried on working at the duct tape, noticing the missing message and relaying it to her.Â
âSo the items were decoys?â she murmured.
He grunted in reply, still working at the tape. Finally they broke free. He quickly untangled himself, before untying Jane. She got to her feet sluggishly and Kurt had to help support her when he saw her begin to sway.
âLet me see.â he murmured, lifting her shirt slowly. He could see the bandage beneath soaking through with blood. She bit back a cry of pain when he tried to peel back the gauze to take a closer look. âSshh.â Kurt tried to sooth her. âIâve got you.â At the look of distraught on her face, he stopped, lowering her shirt gently. âWe need to get out of here.â He said instead. She nodded, leaning on him for support as he guided her back out to the service van.Â
They touched base with the team on the way to the airport, learning that Patterson and Rich would be going to the next location. Kurt couldnât have hid his relief if he tried. There was no way Jane would handle another scavenger hunt.Â
âHow are you holding up?â Kurt asked from the driver's seat. Jane was hunched over, leaning against the passenger side door with her eyes closed. Her face was pale and pinched in pain and Kurt knew she wasn't doing well.Â
âNot great.â she muttered, confirming his fears. For her to admit that - she had to be doing worse than he thought.Â
They pulled onto the private airstrip, both relieved to be going back to the bunker. He helped her out of the car, and carefully boarded the plane.Â
Once they were in the air, Kurt turned towards her, giving her a worried glance.Â
âMaybe you should lie down for a while.â he suggested, knowing she would be more comfortable and rest easier.Â
Jane nodded, unbuckling her seatbelt and moving to the front of the cabin to the small cot. Kurt helped her lay down, reaching out to brush the curls off of her forehead.Â
âJesus! Youâre burning up!â he cursed, feeling her forehead properly with the back of his hand.Â
Jane just closed her eyes, leaning into his touch.Â
âHow long?â he asked. âHow long have you been feeling sick?â
Jane shrugged.Â
âBefore we left the bunker.â
âJaneâŚâ Kurt said sadly. âWhy didnât you tell me?â
Jane sighed, opening her eyes to look at him.Â
âWe needed to find the paintingsâŚâ
âAt the expense of your health?â he asked quietly. At Janeâs silence, he continued. âJane you canât keep putting the mission before your own well-being⌠you did it yesterday and you passed out from blood loss⌠and then today. I never should have let you leave the bunker.â
Jane shifted so her hands were resting on her belly. She could feel the heat radiating out from under her shirt. Infection was setting in.Â
She looked up, staring deeply into Kurtâs eyes.Â
âI did what had to be done.â Her face contorted in fear. âI needed to find you⌠yesterday⌠I needed to make sure you were ok.â
Kurtâs face softened at that. âOh Jane.â He took one of her hands, bringing it to his lips.Â
âI knew if I told the team how bad I was, the focus would shift onto me. But I couldnât⌠I couldnât do that until I knew you were safe.â She sighed. âThen I passed out and that plan went to hell.â she grumbled. âI was so scared⌠Kurt⌠I was so scared I was going to lose you.â
He could see the desperation on her face. âSshh itâs ok⌠Iâm here now.â he hushed, leaning forward and kissing her on the temple. âBut you really need to start taking care of yourself⌠you knew you werenât feeling well this morning, but you said nothing⌠then again⌠you were shot yesterday⌠Iâm so stupid⌠I never should have let you leave the bunker.â he reiterated. âIâm sorry I wasnât thinking of your well-being⌠of course you would try and push through.â
Jane sighed. She knew he was right. She was going to end up getting herself killed if she didnât start taking better care of herself.Â
âI just feel so much pressure to do the right thing.â she said in a small voice. âI just feel if Iâm not pushing myself to my peak, then Iâm not doing my job.â
Kurtâs heart broke for his wife. She seemed to be stuck between a rock and a hard place.Â
âWe all know that you are doing what you think is right.â he replied. âSo far everything has worked out.â
âYeah but at what cost?â Jane quipped. âReade died. I brought Hades into our home. I was shot. You were kidnapped⌠how much more can we take?âÂ
Kurt deflated. âYou are right Jane. We probably canât take much more⌠I know I canât⌠so I need you to start taking better care of yourself⌠so you can take care of this team.â
Jane nodded, unable to form words. She knew he was right. How was she meant to take care of her own, if she was sick with an infection that she probably could have avoided if she had stayed back at the bunker, hooked up to an IV full of antibiotics.Â
âI need you to promise me youâll tell me if something is wrong.â he said seriously. He didnât need the extra stress of wondering if she was truly ok all of the time.Â
Jane nodded softly. âI promise.â
Kurt smiled gratefully, turning to look at her stomach. Her hand was still pressed to her side.Â
âWe do need to take a look at that.â Kurt said, breaking the silence.Â
Jane blew out a lungful of air. âI know.â she said quietly.Â
Kurt retrieved the plane's small first aid kit, before returning to his injured wife. He lifted her shirt gently, before slowly peeling back the bandage.Â
The wound was an angry red and swollen, indicating that infection had well and truly set it.Â
âOh Jane.â Kurt replied before he could stop himself. The fact that she had had to have surgery alone in the bunker, made his heart bleed. He wished he could have been there for her.Â
âIt looks like youâve popped a couple of stitches.â he told her. âThat's why youâre bleeding.âÂ
Jane grimaced as he changed her bandage, trying her best not to cry out as he patted down the gauze, before taping it to her skin
Her pain was picking up and she couldnât stop her heart rate and breathing from accelerating along with it. Jane closed her eyes, swallowing thickly, the nausea returning with a vengeance.Â
âJane?â Kurt asked, noticing her distress.âWhatâs wrong?âÂ
âI really donât feel well.â she replied, remembering her promise from earlier. She brought her hand to her lips, trying to quell the sickness within.Â
Kurt, understanding her distress, fetched an airsickness bag from the overhead compartment, returning to Jane and kneeling beside her.Â
âJust breathe.â he said softly.Â
He watched her hands return to her stomach, clearly losing the battle with her own body.Â
The pain in her side was white hot, her vision greying. Overcome with agony, she turned on her side, reaching for the bag, and vomited from the intensity of her injury and the infection coursing through her body. She held the bag with one hand, the other grasping at her wound. She felt Kurtâs hand on her back, and she couldnât help but whimper at the relief that came with his touch.Â
She coughed and gagged, trying with all her might to get the churning in her gut under control. The pain in her side was unlike anything she had ever felt in her life. The worst part - she was vomiting from the pain, but the vomiting was causing more pain than she could handle. Eventually her agony won out and she found herself sagging into Kurtâs arms.Â
âJane!â he called, reaching out and catching her before she fell off the cot into a heap on the floor. He lay her back gently, brushing her hair away from her face to try and gauge where she was at. Jane was semi conscious, in so much pain that she was silently screaming. She turned her face into the side of the pillow, her tears running down her cheeks and into her hairline.Â
Kurt disposed of the airsickness bag, before returning to her quickly. He stroked her head, trying to offer what little comfort he could.Â
âHey⌠shh⌠youâre ok. Try to slow your breathing down⌠Iâm right here with you.â he murmured, at a complete loss on what to do. She needed a doctor, but he knew she would never agree to it.Â
The next wave of agony hit, Jane writhed on the bed, trying to curl into the fetal position. Kurt couldnât stand to see her like this. With one look at her pleading eyes, he got up off the floor and climbed onto the small cot behind her. He pulled her against him, holding her as close as he dared. âBreathe with me.â he instructed. âCome on Jane you need to slow your breathing down.â He started taking long slow breaths, encouraging her to mimic him.Â
Very slowly, he started to feel her breathing normalise and he could feel the tension steadily leave her rigid muscles. Eventually, she had relaxed enough, falling into an exhausted sleep.Â
Kurt sat there with her nestled against his chest for the remainder of the flight. When the Captain notified him of their descent, he shifted out from under her, managing to pick her up and gently move her back to the seat, buckling her in. She didnât even make a sound - that which made him both relieved and even more concerned. He was beginning to think she was closer to being unconscious than just asleep. It was only when they landed, that he tried to rouse her.Â
âJaneâŚâ he murmured, cupping her chin and stroking her face. âCome on my love, time to wake up.âÂ
Janeâs face scrunched in pain, before her eyes cracked open. She whimpered softly, preferring things when she was unconscious.Â
âCan you walk?â Kurt asked, knowing that she would probably struggle to get down the stairs. His heart clenched when she shook her head ânoâ. He needed to get her home.Â
Patterson has managed to acquire two bags of intravenous antibiotics. They had been saving them for a rainy day as they had been so hard to come by. Well, it wasnât just raining⌠it was pouring.Â
Janeâs fever had skyrocketed and he could feel the heat radiating off of her skin from a metre away.Â
Kurt lifted her gently, her only response was to bury her face in his neck. Her energy was totally spent and she felt worse than when the ZIP poisoning had been killing her.Â
Ice cream had thankfully organised a car to pick them up from the airport. Kurt carried her down the stairs onto the airstrip, and softly placed her in the backseat of the car. He joined her from the other side, pulling her against him.Â
He was barely getting a response out of her now, her body too overcome with the infection.Â
âHang on JaneâŚâ he whispered, wondering if he should just take her directly to the hospital.Â
The decision was made for him once he realised their driver either didnât speak English, or was just ignoring him. It wasnât long before they pulled into the boundary of the bunker.Â
The driver opened the door for him and Kurt got out quickly, making his way round to get Jane. He lifted her back into his arms, cradling her limp, overheated body as gently as he could.Â
He got onto the elevator, jabbing at the button with his elbow and descended into the bunker below.Â
âOh good you guys are back⌠oh my god Jane!â Tasha cried running forward towards her friends. âWhat the hell happened?â
âHer wound is infected. She never should have left the bunker.â Kurt growled, shooting a look of distaste towards Ice Cream.Â
Ice Cream put his hands up in surrender.Â
âYouâre saying this is somehow my fault?â he quipped.Â
âThat is exactly what Iâm saying.â Kurt shot back. âIf it wasnât for you breaking into our home, she could have stayed here⌠could have healed.â
âHealed?â Ice Cream questioned.Â
âShe was shot yesterday. We had to remove the bullet ourselves.â Tasha explained.Â
âOhh, so that is why you needed the blood, yeah?â Ice Cream asked his eyes fixed on Jane.Â
Kurt didnât reply, instead he turned, moving towards their bedroom. He was stopped by one of Ice Creamâs thugs.Â
âGet out of my way.â Kurt warned. He was in no mood to be toyed with.Â
âOh let them pass.â Ice Cream said with a wave of his hands. âClearly, she needs to lie down!â
The thug moved out of the way without a second word.Â
âTasha.â Kurt called over his shoulder, indicating that she should follow him.Â
She ran after him, holding the door open to the sleeping quarters. She helped Kurt lie Jane on the cot, taking note on how high her fever was.Â
âIâll get the antibiotics.â she said, taking off towards the storage cupboard.
While she was away, Kurt got to work gently stripping Jane to her camisole and underwear. When Tasha returned, he watched her insert an IV into her hand, running the tubing to two different bags - one antibiotics and the other saline.Â
âThanks Tasha.â Kurt said sincerely. Tasha merely nodded, before leaving to go back to Ice Cream, to help Rich and Patterson.Â
Kurt retrieved a bowl of cold water and a cloth, before returning to Jane, sponging down her face and neck in the hopes to cool her down.Â
She was still unconscious, though she was reacting to the cool cloth.Â
âOh my love.â Kurt whispered. Seeing her like this was bringing up painful memories. He had nearly lost her far too many times for his liking. She was definitely a cat⌠though he wondered how many of her lives she actually had left.Â
He sat there, sponging off her forehead, listening to the steady drip of the IV for what felt like hours. Tasha had popped her head around the corner to check on them multiple times. On the third visit, she told him that Rich and Patterson had found the paintings and were on their way back with them.Â
It was only after the bag of saline had been replaced and Tasha had injected some painkillers into the IV, that Jane started to shift. She coughed weakly, her hand coming to rest on her belly again.Â
âJane?â Kurt asked, hopeful. âOpen your eyes baby.â he murmured, stroking her face. Her fever was already showing signs of improving.Â
She cracked her eyes open, taking in her surroundings with a confused expression.Â
âHow-â she cracked.Â
âYou passed out on the plane.â Kurt explained. âYouâve been unconscious for hours.â
Jane exhaled softly, raising her left hand to inspect the IV.Â
âWeâve pumped you full of antibiotics in the hope we could control the infection without medical intervention.Â
âKurtâŚâ she rasped.Â
âHere.â Kurt said, handing her a water bottle. She took a couple of sips gratefully.Â
âKurt Iâm sorryâŚâ she whispered. At Kurt's raised eyebrows, she continued. âI never should have said what I did⌠you are a good man. Iâm just so worried that we are turning into what Madeline has made us out to be.âÂ
Kurt took her hand, mindful of the IV. âI know.â he whispered. She had hurt him when she had said that, but he had known it was just her own insecurities showing through the cracks.Â
âI do know you⌠and you know who you truly are.â she said softly.Â
âWe are just doing what we need to to survive.â he finished for her.Â
âIâm also sorry for what happened on the plane⌠and for passing out.â she mumbled.Â
Kurt rolled his eyes.Â
âJane. You were shot⌠yesterday.â he said incredulously. âThe fact that you were able to get out of bed was a miracle - let alone bounce around Europe⌠youâre only human.âÂ
âI know, I know. Iâm not a superhero.â she replied sarcastically.Â
Kurt cocked his head to the side.Â
âWell I wouldnât go that far⌠youâre my superhero.â he whispered, kissing her fingers tenderly.Â
Janeâs face softened at that. She reached up to stroke his face. âAnd youâre mine.â
Kurt could see she was already fading, her energy levels totally spent.Â
âGet some rest.â he murmured softly. âIâll be right here.â
Jane fell asleep quickly, and Kurt was confident that she was on the mend. She just needed lots of rest and lots of time. He wouldnât be letting her leave the bunker anytime soon.Â
Apparently there was a paragraph somehow missing from Tomorrow... if youâve already read it, please go re-read it. Itâs much better now that itâs been fixed. đ¤Śđźââď¸
