Officers vs. protesters in Ferguson.Â

Yo black people in America are gunna feel like they have to stop having kids because they canât even get through 6 years of life without getting shot at for purely existing. Itâs beyond sad how people who just want to be parents should have to reconsider in case their kid gets MURDERED by the supposed protectors. Itâs so incredibly saddening. factors that need to be considered before having a child(ren) should be, âcan we afford to raise them?â âWhat school can give them the best education?â Etc. I never imagined there would be a stage in humanity where one of the factors before having children when being a black or mixed race couple would be, âwait, can this kid leave the house without getting shot for their color?â, likely at an age where theyâre not even self aware of appearance at all. Parents shouldnât have to be rushing to teach their children how not to die at the hands of so called protective services, at the same time they teach them to crawl and chew, itâs near incomprehensible!! Expecting parents should in no way have to reconsider having children in case theirs are HUNTED by racist authoritarians. Itâs not ever totalitarianism, itâs surpassed that. American police shouldnât be "enforcing" to the already obedient black kids just to satisfy their power insecurity. Theyâre worse than animals out there. For Godâs sake #blacklivesmatter
Scholars of race have seized on social movements like #BlackLivesMatter to enliven their courses. But their efforts have taken a personal toll.
âWTF is the impulse behind changing #BlackLivesMatter to #AllLivesMatter. Do you crash strangers' funerals shouting I TOO HAVE FELT LOSSâ

"OMG, AMERICA'S POLICE ARE THE MOST BRUTAL, MILITARIZED, UNJUST POLICE FORCE IN THE WORLD!" I hear this said far too often. While the United State's police force may have some corruption, they are no where near the most brutal police force in the world. If you want to see real police brutality and militarization, look at Russia. I hear a majority of people say that our police force is too heavily armed simply because they see riot police carrying semi-automatic assault rifles and riding around it armored vehicles. Compare what you see there to Russia's OMON. Russia's OMON Anti-Riot force have RPG's, Armored Personnel carries with 30mm auto-cannon's (BTR series 60 through 80A) and grenade launchers. Along with military-grade LMG's, full auto Kalashnikov model rifles, sniper rifles, grenades, Assault Shotguns, RPO's and underbarrel grenade launchers. They are meant to either disperse a riot or completely eliminate it. They are not kind to protesters. They are know to beat and torture protesters and prisoners. They are also known to kill quite regularly, with no consequences. Next time you think our country's police force is so terrible, take a good look at what other countries people's deal with.
I hadn't thought about it like that, but he's got a point. The vast majority of black Americans have never broken the law. And yet, millions of lives are now entwined with the death of Brown and Garner. That's not fair, but it's hardly breaking news. Minorities are constantly stereotyped and the impression lingers. Looters and arsonists run amok, and Black America suffers the association. Now I'm trying to get my head around the fact that two cops are dead in Brooklyn, assassinated by a lunatic in 'retaliation' for Ferguson and Staten Island. Unbelievable. ... A few days ago, people were marching in the streets, literally calling for the execution of police. ('What do we want? Dead Cops!') Others are standing by today, waiting to lionize the assassins who answer the call. These are not the champions of justice; these are the enemies of civilization, and it's up to sensible people on both sides of the aisle to close ranks and shout them down. If we want to live in a nation of laws, we need to support the humans sworn to uphold them. They're a lot of really great cops out there who have promised to do that very thing, including the one in my family. We'd be screwed without them. To answer your question Meghan, I support peaceful protests, and I'm all for rooting out bad cops. But let's not stop there. If we're serious about saving lives, and eliminating the confrontations that lead to the demise of Garner and Brown, let's also condemn the stupidity that leads so many Americans to resist arrest. I don't care if you're white, black, red, periwinkle, burnt umber, or chartreuse -- resisting arrest is not a right, it's a crime. And it's never a good idea.

So does someone wana help me understand this?
Yo where are people getting their facts from concerning the shooting of Antonio Martin? I'm checking and checking but all I see if that he was shot because apparently he was about to pull out a gun on an officer. Apparently Martin also in the past had been involved in an armed robbery and the illegal use of a 'weapon'. The video the police posted is sketchy and as usual doesn't really prove anything.
Now what I'm trying to understand is the uproar behind this...
- According to Tumblr/Twitter (always a reliable source) he actually had a sandwich in his hand when he got shot.
- Now I'm hearing that he was actually pulling out his white iPhone that got mistaken for a gun. This statement I can almost believe because it kinda looked like light was emanating from whatever it was he was holding.
-I can understand the anger at the fact that his body was left there for x amount of hours, but is that not procedure? Not to leave the body there of course, but to leave the crime scene as untainted as possible until investigators arrive.Â
-Was Antonio still alive when he was shot? I thought cops usually shoot to kill. I mention this because there is also anger at the fact that he did not receive medical attention. Even hearing stories about how the protesters that arrived tried to call the ambulance for him. Why are you trying to call an ambulance for someone who's dead?(Unless the police report is false)
-Now the one fact I do know is almost enough for me to just give in to uproar. So apparently the cop just forgot to turn on his body camera and it just so happened that the camera in his car was off as well. That's not suspicious at all...(heavy sarcasm)
Now if I'm wrong please come and inform me. I'm not a fan of the saying "Ignorance is bliss". Otherwise, I feel people should formulate their own conclusions on facts not based purely on tumblr/twitter.
