@dr-grayson Think Shelby is in the process of making new contenders at 145. Just throwing things together and hoping the magic happens. Every prospect with some hype/momentum is getting a top ten fight because featherweight needs new faces in title picture and maybe Shelby thinks Edgar is losing a step after the Stephens fight. Elkins-Bektic and Swanson-Choi were two recent attempts to get a new face in the top ten and make a new contender. Didn't work out like that. Now they've got Moicano-Stephens and Rodriguez-Edgar (and to a lesser extent Allen-Amirkhani) are just the next step. I imagine we'll hear about Ortega-Lamas/KZ soonish if all parties are healthy. As for Yair, it's a good fight to lose. Edgar is the exact type of processed, disciplined fighter that should give Yair fits and is an all time great. Unless he gets KOed inside a minute, no one thinks less of him for losing. And if he wins, dude is instant #1 contender.
