Darcy/Fandral - Fandral shows Darcy some of the wonders of Asgard
I am so sorry this took so long! I promise I haven't forgotten you or anyone else whose sent me prompts and haven’t gotten a reply. I promise I will answer all of them eventually if I am able to.
I hope you like this, I was having a bit of trouble figuring out how to bring them together, but I think this turned out well anyway.
When Darcy had first met Fandral she saw what most women would have seen. A beautiful face, a warm smile and gold armor. She watched him take one look at her and she knew he saw what all other men saw when they looked at her.Her figure.
The look on his face had been enough for her to keep her distance as much as she could. She’d known him for all of a day before he had to leave again and it took every ounce of her will power not to look like a star struck teenager when he kissed her hand before running off after his friends.
She didn’t think about him much after that. In fact it was a full four years until she saw him again.
Thor invited her and Jane to Asgard for his birthday. Darcy didn’t really care how old he was, chances are it was some crazy big number, but she was all for celebrating a special day with one of her closest friends so she didn’t hesitate to accept his invitation.
Traveling by way of bi-frost was cool, but definitely not something she was looking forward to having to do again. Asgard was gorgeous, the most beautiful place she had ever been. It was all like something out of a fantasy novel. The buildings, the streets, the people and clothing, it was amazing.
Upon arrival, the warriors three and lady Sif were waiting to greet them. Then, Thor led them to their rooms (which were like the size of every apartment Darcy had ever lived in combined) where an Asgardian wardrobe was waiting for them. Gorgeous gowns, both fancy and everyday as well as jewelry and bed clothes, she’d never been so pampered in her entire life and all she had done so far was show up. On some level, it just didn’t seem right.
Within a day, Darcy had found the library. She spent the next two days hunkered down in the reading any book she could reach. She’d even met and befriended the librarian, a sweet old woman, who’d begun teaching her All-speak.
Four days into their visit Darcy was still sequestered in the library. She was enjoying a history of Asgard’s healing rituals when she became aware of someone standing behind her. She turned to find Fandral, his hands behind his back and a smile on his face.
“Lady Darcy.” He greeted her. “What ever are you doing here all by yourself?” he asked kindly.
“Reading, actually.” She answered. He smiled in return.
‘I see, Thor did mention you were quite interested with our culture. Perhaps you would permit me to assist you in your endeavor?”
“Why thank you, but you don’t have to do that for Me.” she tried to dissuade him. He waved her off.
“Nonsense, you are friend and a guest of our prince. It would be an honor.” She smiled at him, watching as he took a seat beside her.
“Well, I suppose if that’s the case, I wouldn’t mind a firsthand explanation on how your government operates.” Fandral smiled one of his oh so charming smiles. “Of course, ask me anything.”
And she did. Anything she could think of she asked him, and Fandral soon found himself overwhelmed by her curiosity. If he were honest, he had hoped to find Darcy tired and ready to have some fun. He had hoped she would see him at the man to give her that fun. What he had not taken into account was that she was already having fun, that she did truly enjoy the process of learning and on top of all of that, she was a truly clever, intelligent young woman.
Although, he had to admit, he believed she has the wrong idea about them if her questions were anything to go by. If she really wanted to learn all about Asgard as she had claimed and proven, she would not find all she was looking for in the library.
Nearly two hours later, Darcy stopped abruptly. “I’m sorry.” She apologized and Fandral watched her confused for a moment.
“What ever for, my dear?” she blushed a bit, which Fandral found utterly adorable.
“I’ve completely monopolized your time. You’re probably bored out of your mind answering my silly questions.”
“Silly? Not at all.” he replied. “Actually I find your fascination with our culture rather refreshing, but if I may, we are more than just policy and ancient history.” He paused. “We are every bit as much a part of Asgard as it is a part of us.” He smiled standing from his seat and extending a hand to her. “Perhaps you may permit me to show you what else our great land has to offer.”
She smiled shyly, accepting his proffered hand and allowed him to lead her out of library. From there he made the journey to the gardens along the south side of the palace, where he watched proudly as Darcy starred in awe and wonder at the exotic plants of all shapes, sizes and colors.
“This place is amazing. And here I thought the National Botanical garden was the most beautiful garden I’d ever seen.” He chuckled.
“Oh there is still much more to see.” He told her, guiding her through the gardens and pointing out places where funny things happened to he and his friends or where historical events took place. He did the same in the observatory at the very top of the palace, the fields to the west where they spent lazy days as children and the lake beyond the southern garden where he had spent innumerable hours with Thor and Sif and Loki on hot summer days swimming and picnicking.
“You were right.” she spoke up as they settled into the grass in the shade of a tree by the lake. “Asgard is an amazing place.” He smiled back at her. “Thank you for sharing it with me.”
