#fanfic notes

so the brainrot continues. Anyhow, I originally filled this out because I wanted to get a better handle on how the Janka relationship in the fic I'm writing would be similar/different to canon . . . though I may have also wanted to fiddle around with character designs/attempt to seriously draw something for the first time in like four years. (Not a terrible result, I think, for something I partially traced off screenshots from the anime.)

For Loving His Rival🎭 (Alastor X Fem Reader)

This was originally just supposed to be an idea fic write down, but then the idea post blew up and I decided, why not?

The reason for fem reader being an android/robot

Since I was making them be Vox's sister, I also had to take in account of the time they were born/grew up in. The 1950s SUCKED for women.

Sure, the fashion is nice and all, but women were drugged up to be kept docile, and treated terribly.

-Like robots, expected to be able to do everything as told and not talk back.

As for making them advanced tech, I wanted to give the idea that they were beyond serving. A woman of the future, not a Betty-Bot of the 50s. To have a thought process that's past the 1950s and more.

I saw when someone reblogged this, that being @sadtragediess , I freaked out lol. But I also kinda agree with their idea of Nebula from Guardians of The Galaxy.

I wanted to be kinda vague of how reader looked. She can do all these cool things (kinda like Nebula) but I didn't want to say too much about her appearance.

That's why I put down in Part 1 that they can change their look instantly.

Because I know how powerful imagination can be and I wanted to see what you readers imagined of how this character looked like.

2. The name Veronica

Mostly chose this name because it was the only one I could think of. Don't get me wrong, Veronica is a powerful and beautiful name, and it's also the opposite of Betty (Betty-Bot), but it was chosen by Vox in this fic.

Of course she wouldn't want something her asshole brother gave her, just so she can fit in with his "image." She wouldn't want to be part of anything that Vox made.

3. The name Babe

Since Veronica is the opposite of Betty, I had to go searching for something that might work as a similar but different meaning for Betty. While going through definitions for Betty, I stumbled upon Babe.

-Babe, in the 1920s slang, means an attractive young woman.

Alastor would definitely call his love a babe.

4. References

Now I'm not sure if anyone noticed them but meh. Not the S2 references.

I thought it would be fun to include the Heathers from the musical because of fem reader's stage name being Veronica.

-That's why Velvette calls them traffic lights. (Beginning of Part 3)

Also added the door bit, but switched JD with Vox and the reason why the door was being banged on. (Part 4)

I unintentionally added a Hamilton line but just went with it. (Part 10) And I added another just for fun.

5. Songs

The songs were important to me. Each one had to be carefully selected to go along with the story.

Life Will Change by Lyn Inaizumi - Persona 5: Reader is challenging Vox.

Training Season by Dua Lipa: Reader is singing about Alastor.

When I Fall in Love by Nat King Cole: Alastor kinda set himself up with that song, because Reader is already in love with him, and now all he had to do was follow.

You Don't Own Me by Lesley Gore: A middle finger to Vox, just to taunt him.

Bewitched by Laufey: Reader hinting that she fell in love with Alastor when they first met.

La Vie en Rose (listening to Edith Piaf): Alastor is showing he's in love.

Thank you to everyone who put down their love songs! I listened to all of them when I got the chance and took note of who would sing what. It was mostly Alastor singing lol.

Thank you @marukun for that fun comment. It was funny to put it in Part 10, because even though its not shown, Vox is definitely losing his shit lol.

-(He's raging, then he's sobbing, raging again while sobbing, and then back to just sobbing with ice cream this time.)

To @artisticbishoujorin , yes. Velvette does ship the two, but pretends to be indifferent. Valentino is jealous but he's mostly like: "She wasn't even that hot anyway." Ya know, like most asshole men who get rejected.

Also, I had to make sure that Alastor and Reader covered their bases of what and what was ok before they got physical.

7. Tony

I was kinda panicking because I was like, oh shit. Veronica needs a manager! So while typing Part 2, Tony was born.

Tony, or Antonia, loves money. Her sin was greed but she got better about it after meeting Veronica. (Still loves money tho.)

At first when writing Tony, I thought of a fat, money hungry, slimy, old guy who was in charge.

-But I've seen movies with those types of characters in the music industry, so I changed Tony in my brain and came up with a kinda tired, money loving, foody, who also cares about her friend.

8. Vox

I had this idea since last year, just sitting in my drafts because I didn't know where to go with it. And then S2 of Hazbin came out. Getting some background on Vox definitely helped.

Writing Vox for this was tricky as it was easy.

I wanted him to make his sister's business his business. But I didn't want to make it like a brother is in love with sister, because I do NOT write incest. Ew. 🤢 That gives me gross vibes. Yuck. 🤮

S2 really helped with writing him.

Since he was obsessed with being the best, he would naturally get jealous of his sister getting attention from their parents.

-The reason why was because reader was around her late teens to early twenties. Which is the time to be married in the 1950s, so their parents were looking for a suitor. Buying new dresses, taking her to parties, and so on.

(So like any insane person, he kills them.)

Once he realizes why, he immediately uses his sister for his own personal gain.

Then when he finds her in Hell, he's shocked and angry. Her technology is advanced, way better than his.

So he continues to use her to improve his Vox-tech, stealing her ideas and labeling them as his own.

9. Backstory

In order for our main character to go to Hell, I had to have them commit a sin.

Thinking of the era and how far medical advancements have gone, I also had to take in account of the mistreatment of people in mental asylums.

It wasn't written down, but Vincent put his sister in the worst place, and even paid extra to have her mistreated. That's why the doctors didn't listen to anything she said.

Like a puppet hanging on it's last string, she snaps when hearing Vincent is dead. She's free of him.

Of course someone would go crazy after being abused for so long.

She's around her twenties when she dies.

10. Alastor

I'm going to ramble for a sec but I did not expect to have a Tumblr page almost dedicated to Alastor fanfiction/art. He's taken over 🥲

As Marukun put it, yes. He did not plan on falling in love with fem reader at all. It was supposed to be haha funny. But then it turned to haha...oh crap. Then it got serious lol.

I feel like I kinda rushed it but idk. It was still fun to write him panicking, because of course he would panic if he found out he fell in love.

I like Part 4, when he ignores Vox and picks her up. Because he thought he would walk into something funny, but instead the Radio Demon saw the reality of the situation and quickly changed his tune.

I also liked that after the kiss (Part 7), he unknowingly starts treating their temporary partnership like a real relationship.

1920s slang- It was important that I added a few slang words. And cash or check means: kiss now or later? Idk if anyone noticed but our deer boy got kisses after cashing in the favors.

I recently told my brother about ao3 and in the past two weeks he’s read like 70 ish fics and he sent me some and when i tell you they were genuinely freakier than anything I could’ve imagined
