NOVIAN FLUFF
Can I have some Novian floof
Sorry this is so late, I never check my inbox sksks
It’s 2:31 in the morning, and Nova is the only one awake.
Well. That’s probably not true. She assumes that there must be someone else awake in Gatlon City, somewhere. Someone who is up late reading or stargazing, or someone who can’t sleep or refuses to because of nightmares. But Nova is the only one who never sleeps.
Nova hasn’t slept in years, and over time, she’s become used to it. She’s come up with things to do in the middle of the night when everyone else is asleep.
But tonight is different. Tonight she feels lonely.
Which is stupid, she tells herself. She likes to be alone. And Anarchists don’t get lonely. Anarchists usually work better on their own.
But it’s hard to ignore the ache of longing. She needs to talk to someone, or at least know someone is there for her. After a while, looking at the stars gets boring when you already know the constellations.
So on a moment of impulsiveness, she takes the Renegade communicator and says the first name she thinks of.
He gets the message at 2:39 in the morning. At first Adrian panics. Who would message him at this hour, unless it was an emergency? He reaches for his glasses, fumbling to get them on. Then he sees the message, and relaxes. It’s Nova. Of course she would be awake.
I’m sorry if I wake you, but if you are awake, can we talk?
Of course. What’s going on?
He cringes. Somehow he can never figure out how to word things when talking to Nova.
Her response comes quickly.
It’s not really anything. I’m just… I’m just bored and I need someone to talk to.
That seems like something to me. What do you want to talk about?
Adrian cringes again. Now he sounds like a therapist.
Anything. And I hope I didn’t wake you up with my message.
Adrian blushes. She had woken him up, but he didn’t really mind.
Okay, um… I have no idea what to talk about. And it’s fine, I was already awake.
He sighs. His words still aren’t coming out quite right. At least that message sounded more like him: clueless and a liar.
Nova calls him out on his lie.
Liar.
Well, um. What do you like to do? Other than draw and save the world, I guess.
He smiles. He might have been asleep when Nova messaged him, but now he’s never felt more awake.
Nova is surprised when he answers. But she keeps messaging him, because he makes her feel a little less lonely. Even though she knows she really shouldn’t.
Adrian? You still there?
You fell asleep, didn’t you.
It’s 4:31 in the morning, and Nova is the only one awake. But she no longer feels alone.
