I'm writing on behalf of The Dead Boy Detectives fandom who could desperately use your help! Our show was canceled in its first season, cut off without a care for its dedicated fandom or its insane amount of potential. I made a post about how our shows are similar in that they're niche fantasy/spooky shows with an active fandom, and just like our show Supernatural nearly was canceled unfairly in its early days (after its second season). It then went on to have 15 seasons, as you know, so obviously it would have been a loss on The CW's part if they would have gone through with that cancellation. We believe Netflix is making the same huge mistake!

We're heartbroken, but that hasn't stopped us from trying to convince them to reconsider their decision. Could you guys please sign our petition and help spred it by reblogging?

Still, I think my nervous system might physically incapable of learning that RPS has irreparably breached containment.

Old people anecdote: I remember telling the (already tiny) fanfiction panel at the Beatles con in like 2007(?) that we were slashers and there was just this moment of like… complete, utterly alienating silence from every boomer in the room trying to figure out how to Handle this hot potato without getting shut down. GenXers to the rescue, though, as always, one of the ~40yo panelists was surprisingly chill despite knowing nothing of slash.

(I know i keep harping on this, but the taboo on RPF is rooted in homophobia and is actually a taboo on RPS. Note here that RPF was given a fairly comfortable nod by the ‘official’ authorities involved with the con even in 2007—yes, even explicit romance—until it became slash. Then suddenly it stopped being ‘historical fiction’ and magically became this slanderous, ethical abomination. Because of the gay. Really need yall to not erase that history.)

Dear fandom friends, please can you sign the petition to Save Shadow and Bone. We're trying to get to 200,000 signatures by Jan 22nd when our save the show billboard goes up, to make an impression on Netflix (just passed 184k today!), and it would mean so much to me if you could sign to show support for a show I dearly love <3

So the writer's strike is over, now the actor's strike is over, and Netflix is punishing their fans and all the people who make their shows actually possible reacting to these oh-so-serious budget adjustments by arbitrarily axing five shows at once. And if they want to play the 'woe is me, i just has no monies' card, cue their latest quarterly report:

Remember, kids, companies aren't allow to lie in their quarterly reports because that information is intended for their shareholders. They can lie to YOU all they want, but they go to Actual Prison if they lie to rich people.
