Nadri was vaguely aware that she was even awake, arms hanging loosely in front of her, legs slightly curled beneath.  Everything felt like a lead weight mixed with restraints seeing as she couldn’t move at all.  Slowly, her eyelids opened, showing her the darkness that was before her.  Her body ached and mind muddled with confusion.  How did she get here?  What happened to her family?  So many questions yet no answers to speak of.

Violet threads of hair floated in front of her face, clearly waist long, much longer than she remembered.  Something slid over her pale skin, causing her to shiver.  A presence was watching the Preserver, but it couldn’t be seen itself.  With much effort, Nadri exhaled and swung an arm forward, causing the momentum to rotate her whole being around.  She was floating, that much became painfully obvious as nothing changed within her sights.

Two years to finally complete your transformation.  Seeing as your dream showed you what changes have been done.

A grunt sounded weakly from the woman, still suspended within the Void’s space.  As she closed her eyes, she realized her sight shifted to what was behind her.  Skin peeled back to reveal a vertical eye between the shoulder blades, same bright violet hue as the original eyes that were on the head.  It blinked several times to rid itself of the disorientation of switching views as the lengthy hair strands flitted about it’s vision.  Beyond that, a shroud skirted about the edge, keeping mostly out of sight, but just enough to let a glimpse through on occasion.

The All-Eye on your back will help you see much more.  Of course, you still have command over the small scrying rifts that your dream self used so much.

She tried to speak, but found her voice didn’t want to come out.  The air was thick and it kept her throat tight.  Void essence kept about each inch of the woman’s form, licking at the scarred skin and hair.  It was hard to breath but, at the same time, it felt natural to let it in.  Another sudden bit of movement sent her spinning to the side a bit, now getting sight of the mellow hues of blue and purple with hints of white and grey mixed into the darkness.  Yet no sign of the person that was speaking to her.

Curious?  Quaint.

Inhaling slowly, the Preserver folded her arms to her chest, pulling the essence about her like a blanket over her bare form.  Movement was slowly becoming easier to do, but not enough.  The stiffness of sleep was wearing off as she became more aware of her surroundings.  A twinge of her left knee caused her to look down to see what was causing the suddenness of pain as a faint off purple scar behind the joint.

Oh, that.  That battle you had with Void cultists was very much real to a point.  Scared and even killed some of the more promising vessels that night, but we got you back thanks to the bone dagger.

That brought the woman’s attention up.  Eyes flared in the vastness of the Void as she spun once more, glancing to and fro.  There was no exit to be seen as she hovered about in place, glowering at the invisible presence around her.  With each flit of her hair, Nadri loosened each muscle that was still feeling heavy.

“You said I was here for two years...”  Nadri started off slowly, finding a gravelly undertone to her words as she spoke.  It made no sense to her.  She clearly remembers a lot of those last two years, building a life for herself and having a daughter to raise.

Two years you spent in a mostly deep sleep.  You willingly came to Icathia with a naive boy whom you managed to get out before it was too late.  What you remember after that was nothing more than a fabrication.  You have no family.

Her eyes widened at the words, body stilled with disbelief.  But she could still feel it.  The pain of child birth, heartache, depression, even heated rage and love from her friends and family.  At the same time, a cold feeling of numbing dread welled up to smoother each of those emotions, drowning her mind as she faltered in the space, curling into a fetal position.  No tears came as it normally would and it created a panic to rise up with the chill of loss.

They never were in your life.

A loud bloodcurdling scream ripped through the thick air of the Void as Nadri violently lashed out against the restrains that still held her in place.  This place will not hold her long as the bonds were straining hard to hold the girl down.  Moments passed until she stopped, letting silence settle in the area once more.  It started out softly, a weak chuckle as the voidtouched hovered still.

“I don’t believe you...”

Another roar tore through as the gathered essence that was gathered about her formed into rather sharp shards that circled around and around, hitting the forces that was binding Nadri down till each limb was able to move freely.  A throaty laugh escaped the escapee as she reached out blindly, feeling for something till her thin fingers gripped around a familiar object.  Pulling it back towards her was the voidborn tooth dagger that created the wound behind the left knee.  With a single slash in front of her, the tip tore through the space, creating a portal to the outside.

NO!  YOU’RE TO STAY HERE!

The Void could scream at her all it wanted, but the woman wasn’t listening.  Her third eye showed her the malevolence of the Void swirling behind her, but that didn’t matter anymore.  She was going to return to her home.  Find her friends and family....Prove the Void was wrong!  In a single blink, Nadri was gone.
