Whether it's writing styles, fandoms, mannerisms, personalities, plots-in-progress or whatever -- it's important for muns to realize that not everyone meshes and that's ok, on both sides.

One side is allowed to be disappointed, but they must know to move on without making a big deal out of it. The other side is allowed to feel safe in their own space and shouldn't be shamed for curating it, but should understand not to be rude or harsh when letting the other person down; don't ghost either!

Communication is key, even if it's in telling the other person that it just won't work out. Please make yourself clear, even if you just use a copy/paste a pre-rewritten generic message about not working out well.

To reiterate:

People following, but aren't getting a follow back: don't get offended.

People getting followed, but don't want to follow back: be clear, but kind.

This roleplaying experience is just a hobby, something for fun. A recreation -- meant for relaxing, unwinding and getting away from daily stresses. It should not ADD to what you suffer through each day. It's ok to stick to a smaller, more manageable group of people that you've gotten to know; by the same token it's ok to go out there and try to expand your network of acquaintances and friends without being rejected hurtfully.
