yknow the way the pitch of pouring water changes as it fills a space?
i just noticed that for the second time in recent memory and found myself taken to an imagining of what it might be like for someone who had suddenly gone blind [and was quite upset / still adjusting, feeling they had lost a great deal of autonomy along with their sight] to notice this thing often perceived as background noise and cry in relief as they realize they can fill their own cup without overflowing.
and maybe from then on it's background noise again.. or maybe it becomes a secret ritual only they know, to listen fully to the sound of water filling their glass, and know that it remains possible to live their own life.
