I’m just wondering like... ok, it seemed like s15 was building to something that we wound up frankly just Not Getting in 15x20 and some people are saying it seems like they pulled the plug on Destiel some way mid season. but Jensen is quoted numerous times disliking Dean’s ending. that tells me there was nothing “pulled” out of fear or homophobia or whatever. it tells me that it was always the ending. OR Jensen didn’t like the ending they were going with and THIS is what they did instead.
I am not of the opinion that anything was pulled last minute out of homophobia, and every piece of evidence I’ve seen to substantiate that claim has not been very solid (and the ‘me too’ thing... like. it has been denied straight up. it doesn’t even make sense as dialogue. if someone has evidence of this in a script, let me know - heck, if you have the script for 18, let me know everything). I don’t think Cas ever had a huge role in the ending (at a stretch, he MIGHT have had one scene, MAYBE, in an initial draft) and all sources close to the writers seem to indicate this was the best possible outcome they could envision with regards to D/C canon and whatever limitations were imposed on them. I think this level of reciprocation was 100% planned from the beginning of season 15. I don’t think Misha was planned to be in the finale as more than a member of a group shot. As I’ve said before I think this was the ending planned for Dean etc. by Singer (they have stated multiple times ‘they knew for a while how to end the show, not how to get there’), and the narrative of e19-20 was reverse engineered to fit that ending. Hence the end not making sense for the characters or the arc of 15.
