353 to 522 individual #whitesharks left around the South African coastline For the past 6 years, Dr. Sara Andreotti of Stellenbosch University, myself and the #SharkDivingUnlimited team have been undertaking the biggest scientific field research project, ever conducted on #GreatWhiteSharks around the #SouthAfrican coastline. We sailed storms, dived in very rough weather and spent months at sea gathering important genetic and photographic data. Today we presented the published paper to the press in #CapeTown and the findings, that's there's only 353 to 522 individual white sharks left around the #keepfinalive coastline left! Is now proven that the species is #facingextinction and something must be done to halt this decline immediately.
