You may not like the fact that Ezra is or could possibly be A, but just look at it through the eyes of the actor. Ian hasn't expanded too much in his acting these past couple seasons. His character has become obsolete in a sense. And most actors seem to always love being able to play the 'bad' character. And it also is a chance for him to flex his acting muscles a bit, since his character has rarely been bad. So let the actor be happy to be able to progress in his skill, let him be happy.
