J A P O N E S Una de mis amigas me encargó flores para su cuñada que tendría su primer hijo en Nueva York. Yo estaba súper emocionada porque era mi primer encargo. El niño nació un fin de semana así que no pude comprarlas sino hasta la madrugada del lunes. Todos me ayudaron: @pzalaquett me acompañó e hizo de burrito de carga; @fernandogallardo sacó la foto para enviarla a Chile; y @juanjozalaquett, que hizo el delivery, se fascinó con las reacciones de la gente en la calle al ver las flores. Nada habría sido posible sin David, mi casero en @gpage, que me recomendó esos ranúnculos japoneses con pétalos que parecen finas milhojas. Total que el arreglo llegó tarde pero la joven mamá quedó feliz! Y me contaron que las enfermeras se pasaron la voz y venían a su habitación para ver las flores #exquisiteflowers #friendshipismagic #alwaysthankful (at Alhama de Aragón, Spain)

Devil-in-the-Bush & Hoverfly by Martien Uiterweerd Via Flickr: Devil-in-the-Bush, too Love-in-a-Mist or Lady-in-the-Green (Nigella damascene) is an heirloom flower, that has been grown in gardens since the 1600's, belonging to the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). The plant's common name comes from the flower being nestled in a ring of multifid, lacy bracts. It is native to southern Europe, north Africa and southwest Asia. It grows to 20–50 cm tall, with pinnately divided, thread-like, alternate leaves. The flowers (diameter 2-6 cm) are most commonly different shades of blue, but can be white, pink, or pale purple; with 5-25 sepals. The fruit is a large and inflated capsule, and is composed of several united follicles, each containing numerous seeds. The plant self-seeds, growing on the same spot year after year. The most common cultivar on the picture is 'Miss Jekyll' which has blue flowers. The hoverfly is the Dasysyrphus albostriatus. Body length 8 - 11 mm. This picture was taken in the flowergarden of my sister, Carla. Juffertje-in-het-groen (Nigella damascena) is een eenjarige plant ranonkel (Ranunculaceae). De soort wordt in tuinen als sierplant gehouden, zoals hier op de foto de cultivar 'Miss Jekyll' met half dubbele, helderblauwe bloemen. Juffertje-in-het-groen wordt 20-45 cm hoog. De sterk gereduceerde bladeren zijn veerdelig. De kelkbladen van de niet gecultiveerde planten zijn blauw, wit, roze of bleek paars gekleurd, terwijl de kroonbladen gereduceerd zijn en aan de voet van de meeldraden zitten. De bloemen zijn 2 à 6 cm in doorsnede. De vrucht is een 3 cm lange doosvrucht. De rijpe doosvrucht heeft bovenaan vijf, ongeveer 7 mm lange spleten, waardoor de zaden kunnen ontsnappen. De plant komt in Nederland van nature niet voor, maar is lokaal verwilderd. De plant komt oorspronkelijk uit het Middellandse Zeegebied en de Canarische Eilanden. Daar groeit de plant op akkers en braak liggende terreinen. De zweefvlieg is een bretelswimperzwever (Dasysyrphus albostriatus) met een lengte van 8 à 11 mm.
