TODAY'S FACT IS
Did you know that the Executioner Wasp (Polistes carnifex) is a species of paper wasp found in much of the tropical areas of Central and South America? Despite their name and large size (up to 33mm long), they're fairly docile and non-aggressive. When making a nest for her colony, the queen will use her antennae behind her and her eyes in front of her to make each cell have straight walls. In the first cells she makes, she lays eggs. Once those eggs hatch and develop into adults, the workers (not the drones) will help with construction and reproduction.
