i feel like with logan not feeling listened to, focusing on the literal amount he's ignored/heard feels like an incomplete metric to me, i do think it's a factor but i think there are others too. because regardless of the stats (and it's a hard thing to quantify, as someone who has played with spreadsheets about this out of curiosity and currently has given up a bit), logan doesn't feel listened to and has stated this to thomas since at least lntao (possibly interpretable as a worry as early as not getting to help like he wanted in a new year of lying to myself). a literal count is not the way most process this kind of thing, especially when it's not something concretely quantifiable, and unfortunately for logan i don't think being logic makes him immune to magnifying the negative, and the times he is heard standing out less than the times he isn't, especially when he doesn't recognise his feelings which would make it hard to acknowledge if they factored into reasoning yay.
additionally while we only can directly count the episodes, we know scheduling is something logan has been working on in the background, with logan stating this in svs, and his attempts in episodes like wdwgoobitm and wtit, likely at least since the need for planning was addressed in losing my motivation. and i think that the sense of being ignored comes from that too, which isn't accounted for in an episode-based tally. of course, some of his schedules that we've seen don't seem realistic to follow, and i think that's one of the major things to be communicated about, but that doesn't make those plans falling through have less of an impact, especially when that communication doesn't seem to have happened.
(somewhat side note, i feel like there's stuff to be said regarding thomas and logan's relationship in regards to executive dysfunction, and that factoring into the feeling of not being listened to with the mutual internal frustration at not being able to follow through on the things they feel they "should" be able to, but that's it's own post probably lol.) but while on the more representational side of things, knowing something is "logical" to do doesn't always make it easy to follow through on, compared to doing things based on emotions or on wants. logan says it himself in wtit that he doesn't have flashy ways to get his point across, and i imagine that factors into his need to be listened to and taken seriously if each win feels a harder fought battle.
and then there's the chemical engineering degree, and his dissatisfaction with thomas's life path in comparison to most of the other sides, at least in regard to his career, implied in moving on and stated in lntao. and while in lntao he did come more to terms with thomas's career in some ways, it's still not what he would have chosen, and i imagine that overarching fact impacts all the smaller moments where he doesn't feel heard, each thing more important as he already "lost" on one of the bigger points in their life. wanting control in their discussions that he doesn't have in the bigger picture.
so logan says he isn't listened to, thomas tries to listen but cannot 100% of the time, because he has five other sides to listen to as well (more sides entering the discussion being another factor in feeling less heard, especially with janus taking logan's place twice to get his own voice heard), and because that's not the sole aspect of the issue it doesn't help, because any moment he isn't listened to he still feels ignored, and scared about not being taken seriously and not heard when it's crucial that he is. idk the exact solution here other than to say a vague "communication would help, probably", i'm being more of a problem identifier here than a problem solver :P
i think there's a communication breakdown on both sides where the others do not understand the extent to which logan feels this way about not being listened to, and he hasn't expressed that in a way that has gotten through to them as it would require understanding all of this nuance himself, (he comes closest in lntao with the stuff around "i'm not a joke" i think? but given the way he is seen as an antagonist at that moment only virgil really seems to pick up on it), and when they try to get through to him in return it isn't always in a way that actually works for him either. gestures again at lntao specifically the song. thomas and logan's overlapping duet has both of them pointing out respectively that logan and the other sides aren't letting each other finish their points, but of course, here they're also talking over each other.
(i do think with logan (and also roman in that episode) in lntao especially there was basically a neon sign pointing at them like hey! here are the issues these characters have! and due to the moral of lntao being like. not solving the problem but a step in the direction of it, while progress was made, some things were left mostly unresolved, and then were set on the backburner to slowly boil away while all of the svs stuff happened. i actually find this fun narratively and from like the metaphorical perspective, it makes sense working on the finer nuances of self communication would fall by the wayside during the current mental health crisis, like an internal version of how logan drops the idea of getting the house clean for dealing with remus in wtit. i just hope it's handled well when it finally is addressed after all this time.)
