My post for last year’s shipathon still voices the majority of my feelings, so here I’ll add my thoughts based on season 4.
Season four really strained Eve (and I assume Flynn too being kidnapped by his first guardian), and the main reason this season hurt in that regard was the first six eps Flynn was there. Those six eps were the most consecutive eps Flynn has ever been with the main group in the whole show. And then, just as we got comfortable and used to happy Flynn and Eve, we get Darrington Dare making Flynn think, and then next thing we know he “resigns.”
At first I got really pissed at Flynn, when I thought he actually chose to leave. How could he leave Eve, and the Library, like that? I know Darrington had some leverage since he knew he was Flynn’s idol, but Flynn seemed to be seriously pondering if he wanted to tether up until he got kidnapped. I thought all that progress Flynn made by staying with the group and being a team was for naught, and that made me sad for him and for Eve who effectively was seeing the same thing. I’m so thankful that wasn’t the case though, even if it kind of threw my Flyzekiel fic based on Flynn running under the bus.
Thinking back I’m surprised I actually managed to not like Flynn for the first time in the whole franchise for a hot minute. And, I’m kind of glad the show made me feel like that, because it made the reveal in the finale that much sweeter.
Writing this is kind of bitter sweet, with the show being done before its time. But hey, they’re immortal and married now, it’s basically the best case scenario for this ship. My only regret is not really writing a fic that focuses on them. Maybe one day I’ll remedy that.

The Librarians Shipathon 2017 - Week 1: Eve & Flynn
“I’m Flynn Carsen, and I’m a Librarian. Number 167, I think. I was alone for a very long time, and then I got a golden letter that showed me that there was an entirely different world…magic. And I thought that’s all I needed. But um…now I know that I need more.”

Not my best but i wanted to get another thing in for Evlynn Week in Shipathon.
Soulmate!AU where everyone gets a necklace with a pendent that matches and fits together perfectly with your soulmate’s
(idea and hieroglyph provided by @sizzling-starlight )
Eve and Flynn, Flynn and Eve. For me this ship is always on the back burner. I like it, sure, but being canon, and long lasting too, automatically makes my focus shift to ships not canon, especially when I write. That being said, this week is the perfect time for me to really explore this ship, more than I’ve done since the show started.
I’ve always seen Fleve as a powerhouse relationship: two people who are pretty different from each other in such a way that they complement the other and get stuff done.
Eve. Logical, strong, tactically oriented. She has a plan, and she’ll get it done as efficiently as possible. She’s not going to act impulsively if she can help it, and working with pretty impulsive people who have no military training is a struggle, but she adapts anyway. She sees everyone’s potential/strengths, and in her own way, acts kind of like Nate Ford from Leverage in organizing them to be most efficient.
Flynn. Full of knowledge, wily (yes the pun is the best thing ever), clever. He has so much information in his head, and if he doesn’t know something, he knows where to find out more. He doesn’t plan at all, he goes for it, and somehow comes out mostly unscathed every time. He doesn’t like Eve trying to coral him, or having to share adventure and discovery with other people more skilled in areas he’s not at strong in (though he and Stone overlap a lot).
If you’ve seen the movies, it’s super easy to see why Flynn fell for Eve. He’s got a thing for women who are strong-willed, and good fighters. Even if he didn’t want a guardian, he was already slipping down that slope in the series premiere by the time they got to the Black Forest, when they realized they’d both been running around, collecting dangerous objects, avoiding family and friends, always thinking about the job.
Eve fell for Flynn a bit later. There’s a face when she’s processing why he complimented her with “henge” just after their little bonding conversation, but it’s not until she has to talk Flynn out of his hiding behind books up on the balcony of the Annex in the second episode that she starts developing feelings, probably due to understanding why he was doing what he was doing. I’d say she realized how he felt about her there as well. Then obviously by the end of the episode we have their first kiss onscreen, basically cementing them as the main ongoing relationship in the show.
That relationship has had strain, which shows up several times throughout all the seasons so far, with peak strain being in season 3 “And the Trial of the Triangle.” With the intervention, then the argument, then his jaunt in the pocket dimension, Flynn does a lot of realizing just how much he’s straining her by doing his thing. Eve, after the emotional ride that was the season 3 finale, realizes that Flynn can’t change over night, and he’s putting in an effort now for sure, which is all she can ask him to do (though I suspect he was putting in effort to be a team player off and on for her before).
In a weird way I’ve always seen the two of them in myself (there’s a little bit of Stone in there too, not just because I’m also an Oklahoma native, and some Cassandra, but that’s for a another discussion). Part of me is Eve, being logical and planning things out as best as I can, seeing people’s skills and doing what I can to prod them into positions where they can use them. Part of me is Flynn, in terms of my hodgepodge of knowledge, knack for figuring things out or finding information to help me do that, a tendency to be a bit eccentric (especially in talking out loud to myself when I’m thinking or concentrating), and being comfortable alone.
The ship feels comfy because I can relate to both of them. I know why Flynn struggles to stick around, wants to do everything himself. I know why Eve’s annoyed at him for leaving all the time especially when they could use him, for masking his care so he can be standoffish. “And the Trial of the Triangle” was so satisfying to see because he was admitting his flaws, and why they were there, and Eve’s understanding in the finale was comforting, because she wasn’t trying to change him, she was acknowledging where he was and that he was working on it. For her, that’s showing her shift from Colonel mindset to Guardian, from training and treating the LiTs like fresh soldiers to seeing them all as they are, and being content to work with that, not shape them into something easier for her to handle.
I am very curious to see what’s going to happen in season 4. We have a previously deceased guardian coming back, one he also fell for. I don’t have much concern for his and Eve’s relationship; I think it’s rooted down enough through what they’ve been through. However, he will be dealing with a skeleton from his closet, one with a lot of emotion attached. How much he’s going to suffer from that is going to deal with why she’s back, probably how as well, and if they have to fight her, he’s not going to be objective about it at all by the shear nature of his memories of her. It’s going to be a strain on him, and thus Eve as well as she supports him and grounds him through it. They can do it, sure, but it’s going to be very interesting to see them do it.
All in all, Eve and Flynn are a powerhouse, capable of doing a lot. They’ve had rough patches and tender moments, and have come through stronger for it. That strength is going to carry them through the 4th season, and hopefully be enough to let them make it through.
Description: It’s Evlynn week!! I’m really excited to participate in the shipathon this year as last year I was nowhere near as involved with this fandom as I am now (and even then I am a micro-presence :P). I really hope I can provide some great content to it this year, and I’m super excited to see what everybody else brings to the table. Anyway, here’s some Librarian!family with a dash of Evlynn fluff. Enjoy!!
“What in the world are you doing?”
Flynn, who’d been holding a duck, yelped in surprise and spun around. The duck bit him on the hand, forcing him to drop it, and flew away in a burst of feathers. Flynn smiled. “Eve! Eve my love, my darling, my great friend!”
Eve crossed her arms over her chest. “What are you doing?”
“Oh, this?” Flynn asked, absent-mindedly gesturing to the room around them. It was covered in feathers and the birds that those feathers belong too. Eve saw three chickens, two geese, a few parrots, and the angry duck that was now waddling around. Flynn shrugged. “Nothing.”
“Hey, Flynn, where the hell did-?” Eve looked up, surprised, when Jacob leant over the railing. He was holding a large turkey in his arms. He grinned when he saw Eve. “Oh, hey, Baird.” His eyes widened. “Oh, shit, Baird.”
Eve’s eyes fell back to Flynn who was trying to corral the angry duck underneath the table. He glanced up at her, laughing nervously. “I swear, it’s not as weird as it looks.”
Jacob came stumbling down the stairs, careful to keep the turkey securely in his arms. He walked up to Eve and said, “Uh, I need you to, uh, leave…with me, and we can-.”
“I’m…cool?” Eve questioned. Jacob shrugged at her before he walked away again, muttering to the turkey in his arms. “What is happening here?”
Flynn grinned at her. “Well, you told me I needed to bond with the kids. This is me…bonding.”
Eve sighed, shaking her head. “This is a very weird way to do it.”
She didn’t wait for him to answer before turning away to leave the room.

“Why is Cassandra duct-taped to the ceiling?”
Flynn, who was holding a clipboard and a roll of duct tape, twirled around to face Eve. He smiled. “Science!”
Eve sighed and glanced up at Cassandra. “You gave him consent, right? He didn’t just do this to you without warning?”
“It was my idea!” Cassandra reassured her.
Eve sighed. “Of course it was.” She shook her head. “Just be careful when you let her down, okay? Don’t let her fall or something.”
Flynn shot her a thumbs-up. “No worries, honey!”
“We’ll be careful!” Cassandra added cheerily. She gave Eve a beaming smile. “If you want, you can read out results. Flynn’s been taking down notes as we worked.”
Flynn blanched, and even from her distance, Eve could see that his clipboard only had one piece of paper on it. The piece of paper was littered in various doodles, none of which looked very scientific. Eve grinned. “Yeah, I’ll be sure to check that out when you guys are done. Have fun!”
She turned on the spot and walked away, praying that Stone would be up for some drinks.

“How…I just, how is this even possible?”
Flynn and Ezekiel were in one of the various kitchens that the Library held. The walls were covered in splatters of chocolate. The oven that they’d used was open, smoke spilling out of it. Flynn had a dollop of whip cream on his nose, and Ezekiel, far unluckier, was covered head-to-toe with white powdered sugar.
Ezekiel was grinning. “We were making brownies.”
“It didn’t turn out like expected,” Flynn reluctantly admitted.
Eve shook her head, pinching the bridge of her nose. “And why were you making brownies?”
“Well…” Ezekiel drew out the word. “It’s the day that we’ve decided as his birthday. Stone and Cassandra are buying him a gift right now.”
“We’re hoping it’s going better,” Flynn said with a smile.
“You’re cleaning this up,” Eve told them.
“But-,” Ezekiel started to protest.
Eve pointed a warning finger at him, and his mouth snapped shut. Flynn nodded and saluted to her. “No worries; we’ll take care of it.”
“Spotless,” she told him. She reached forward, grabbed a spoon covered in brownie batter, and licked it. She shrugged a shoulder. “Not bad.”
She rolled her eyes when she walked out of the room and heard the two high five and whoop in triumph.

“You know, when I said you should get to know them, I meant you should take Stone out for drinks or go with Cassandra to a museum.”
Flynn, who was dressing into some pajama pants, grinned at Eve where she was already sitting in bed. “Where would be the fun in that?”
Eve shook her head, grinning at him reluctantly. “I should’ve kept them far away from you; we’re never going to have a normal day ever again.”
Flynn’s grin grew as he crawled onto the bed, leaning over to press a sweet kiss to her cheek. “Yeah…isn’t it fantastic?”
“It’s something alright,” Eve said and only laughed when Flynn poked her in the side. She pushed him away and admitted, “Alright, alight, it’s pretty great. I guess I’m really glad I met you.”
“You mean forced yourself into my life?” Flynn teased.
Eve smirked at him. “That was the best day of your life.”
Flynn’s smile softened. “Yeah, it was.”
Eve pushed him away when he leant in for another kiss but swung an arm over his chest and settled in to go to sleep.
