headcanons of vnc male characters when friend or s/o (reader) flinches while they raise their hand, assuming they will take a hit??? would they ignore it, or worry, or just be confused?
btw i love your writing it's awesome!!!
It's been a while since I've been in Fandom culture so lets see if I still got it ahah I hope you enjoy this one. FYI mild TW: Insinuation of past trauma of violence.
I feel like Vanitas would notice immediately if he saw s/o react with a flinch from a such a simple gesture like raising his hand. Granted he does ignore emotional outburst but I don't think he could ignore something like fear in his s/o.
I think the moment s/o recoiled from him raising his hand while he was in a state of being dramatic or flamboyant, his mood would instantly change, but not without trying to cover it with humor...
(Name) was a little distracted while their partner Vanitas was going on and on about some kind of rant or monologue about how amazing he was and how he is a savior of sorts.
However while Vanitas went on and on, he had raised his hand too quickly. It was then he noticed the drastic flinch (Name) made when he had turned to them. There was a silent moment between the two.
"What? Did you think I was going to hit you?" he mused with that typical smirk of his.
(Name) who was embarrassed from having such a reaction hadn't noticed Vanitas turn his back on them; his teasing smirk instantly fell the moment his back was towards his s/o. It wasn't the first time Vanitas was flamboyant with his exaggerated movements, however, it was the first time (Name) had in a way switched off that keen awareness they always had on. Vanitas was someone who (Name) truly trusted but the sudden moment while they were daydreaming where that usual restrain to flinching at the smallest movement was momentarily revealed...
Vanitas looked from the corner of his eye to glance back towards his s/o who walked next to him and pointed at anything and everything to avoid the topic of what had just happened, meaning dismissing his subtle teasing tone that was clearly a cover to the worried nature of the words itself.
His eyes narrowed only slightly when there was quiet pause before (Name) moved to stall to inspect some merchandises on display. His sharp blue eyes watched (Name) closer, but his stomach felt heavy in his gut; the fact (Name) flinched so badly made him question whether his s/o truly trusted him.
It made him uneasy to even think that his s/o would ever think that he would ever be violent towards them. It made him sick to the stomach.
His hands clenched at his side before relaxing as he moved towards (Name). Calling out their name, before finally reaching their side; mindful to not startle them in anyway.
(Name) was completely unaware of the subtle change, Vanitas was making. He was a touchy person by nature, but that flinch had made him paranoid that made him rethink his approach towards (Name) from that moment on so they would never have such a reaction towards him.
Noé Archiviste:
I feel like with Noé he would definitely take it the hardest to see such a reaction.Unlike Vanitas, Noé is openly affection wears his heart on his sleeve and is always sincere so seeing his s/o flinch from him just raising his hand he would genuinely look shocked heck he would probably look like the one who was struck (not out of offence more like he was horrified that you would think he would do something like that)…
(Name) and Noé were on date. It was a beautiful evening out to the theaters watching a beautiful ballet. The evening was perfect spent in each other company with out Vanitas crashing their alone time.
They were walking on the path before they moved to cross but a vehicle rushed pass, Noé reacted in time to pull his s/o out of the danger.
It happened oh so fast for (Name) to process. As the vehicle swerved to get back on the road, Noé had lifted his hand up shouting at the reckless driver but was cut short when he saw how (Name) covered her face and flinched away from him.
His words came to abrupt stop as he gazed down at (Name) who had flinched. His mind spiraled; he wasn't sure if it was his raised voice, or something else. But his stomach dropped the moment he lowered his arm when (Name) slowly uncovered her face at the sound his his arm lowering.
His eyes searched theirs frantically. His frown deepened as his voice came out soft, gentle even
"...I wasn't going to hurt you"
he looked down at his hands. The one that was raised was resting in his palm while his thumb anxiously pressed into the offending hand. He felt awfully guilty, the idea that his s/o would ever think he would do such a thing was saddening but what disheartened him was the fact that (Name) would think someone who loved them would ever use violence. Noé refused to phantom the idea that love or care would be associated with violence.
Shaking his head he held the unoffending hand out towards his s/o, a pleading look in his eyes
"Can I hold your hand?"
Roland Fortis:
For our loveable golden retriever Roland I think he would react almost immediately and very emotionally the instant he sees his s/o flinch.
But I think he would be pretty expressive and compassionate even if it seems a little theatric and a little over dramatic; probably freeze instantly before dropping to his knees and hug his s/o legs apologizing porously...
(Name) was speaking with Olivier in the break room after a shift when Roland rush in with that ball of energy that made (Name) smile fondly while Olivier looked more exhausted than ever.
Roland wedged himself between the two people he cared deeply for. He was going on and on about what his shift entailed, (Name) had turned to fill up her drink with Roland following behind still yapping about his shift which in that moment gave Olivier the chance to slip away to have some peace and quiet.
When (Name) turned around both (Name) and Roland noticed that Olivier had managed to slip away. But Roland spotted the retreated older male and raised a hand to call out to him; but he was rather close to (Name) and from their peripheral it looked like they were about to be struck so they flinched.
The recently filled mug spilled and clanged on the stone floor. Roland wiped around to see his s/o flinch, his heart sank when he realized what had happened.
"Oh- no, no" he panicked.
He dropped to his feet and instantly latched his arms around (Name)'s legs and wailed
"I'm sorry, so sorry! I startled you, I'm so sorry"
(Name) although embarrassed not only from his loud apology and his dramatic display that overshadowed the embarrassment of being startled in the first place. They tried to get the oversized puppy on his feet and calm down.
But his guilt was sincere. quickly he rushed off the grab a new mug and filled it up and handed it back and locked his fingers together behind his back so he couldn't make any grand sudden gestures that could startle his s/o again.
Olivier:
I will say that Olivier is a little hard to think about since is such a quiet and reserved person. But with a s/o I think he would address it calmly the moment he noticed that his s/o flinched from him raising a hand, he would know instantly that the reaction did not come out of nowhere. He smart enough to know that it would be something about s/o's past and not to do with him or their relationship...
It was in the church halls, quieter than usual really.
Most of their colleague had retired to their quarters or hand gone drinking somewhere in town.
Olivier took the change to ask his s/o out for a simple stroll since their schedules had been pretty busy and hadn't had the time to see each other.
Olivier was in the break room completely swamped with paper work. (Name) after waiting made their way to check his the common break room; finding him there (Name) sat down on the same table. Their voice was quiet almost pouting when they said
"You said we'd go for a walk and hour ago" (Name) gave a small dramatic sigh.
Olivier took a moment to stop and look up at his s/o and while he was aware that (Name) wasn't the type to hold it against him when he choose work over certain things like a simple stroll. He knew that their s/o was logical enough that he would never do anything to hurt them.
"And we will..." his eyes dropped down to the papers as his hand started writing again "The reports simply decided otherwise"
His reply was calm as always. (Name) huffed softly before leaning over from across the table in front of Olivier trying to catch a glimpse of what he was writing. Trying to decipher the writing from upside down. He found it a little amusing but it was private, and even he loved his s/o dearly he still upholds his ethics.
He looked up properly from the papers, raising a hand to gently push (Name)'s forehead back away from the private reports he was writing up when it happened.
The moment his hand raised he noticed the small subtle flinch. His hand stopped mid motion before it lowered on the table. His fingers unconiously curled into a fist before he dragged his hand down and off the table to rest at his side on the bench seat.
The somewhat empty common break room suddenly left much quieter than before.
(Name)'s eyes widened slightly, almost panicked not just from his reaction to their own but by the way their own body instinctively reacted against someone they truly trusted.
"I wasn't going to hurt you."
His tone was normal than ever but that slight soften in his eyes after the initial shock at his s/o flinching by such a small motion. Even though he was aware that he had never in the time they had been together had never acted in any negative way towards them that could cause such a reaction only meant that something in their past was the reason to such a reaction.
(Name) looked away briefly feeling embarrassment and guilt. Olivier brought his hand back onto the table and held his palm up to the ceiling with fingers outstretched as for (Name) to place their hand in his as he continued to scribble his reports.
Slowly (Name) put their hand in his and his thumb curled over to sooth their knuckles as he continued to work, his eyes stayed on the paper as he spoke softy

⊹ ° 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒂: "You don’t hate me, not really."

⊹ ° 𝒅𝒓𝒚𝒂𝒅 𝒐𝒊𝒍: "Then let’s just stay here, together. No words needed."
Your fingers tap against the tablecloth rhythmically, dull repetitive thuds drowned out by the yammering of the human seated across from you. What you’ve noticed about Vanitas is that he never shuts up unless he wants to get information out of someone – in which case he’ll finally be quiet and allow the other to run their mouth instead.
The slice of quiche on your plate lays forgotten about, coffee growing cold in its cup. You’ve taken only a bite of the very tip of the slice before losing interest, the flavours dull on your tongue. Instead, it’s the aroma of that insufferable self-proclaimed doctor that has your mouth watering.
You’re no curse-bearer, able to control your thirst, to retain your civility; you’re not like a starved animal being presented with food, more like a child being told they cannot eat their favourite sweet that’s been put in plain sight. You nibble at the inside of your lip, scarred tissue long since made resistant to your sharp fangs, a common occurence amongst vampires who share your little habit.
What doesn’t help is the open window he’s sitting in front of, the breeze blowing his coppery fragrance your way. You can’t help but glance between Domi and Noé, trying to read their body language, watching for the bob of their throats to check if their mouths are watering as much as yours. But you see no such indicators.
Sucking in a deep breath, you clench your jaw and rise to your feet. “Excuse me, but I need some fresh air.” You dismiss yourself and leave before anyone can question you, especially the very empathetic Noé.
You make your way up to the hotel’s roof where you hope you’ll be neither followed nor bothered. But, of course, that would be too much to ask for. You hear that trapdoor that provides access to the rooftop open and close. Letting out a small huff, you turn, expecting to see Noé, but are instead met with the source of your frustrations instead.
“What do you want?” You ask with a raised brow, leaning back on your hands where you’re sat down.
“Hello to you too.” He sits down beside you, cross-legged and with his elbow propped on his knee so he can set his chin on his hand. With those vibrant blue eyes of his, he gives you an analytical look that sours your already bitter mood for no apparent reason. “How have you been feeling lately?”
“I haven’t lost my name to Charlatan if that’s what you’re implying. I’m fine, just feeling a little frazzled or whatever.” You don’t meet his gaze, instead choosing to look out across Paris’ skyline stretching out before you.
Vanitas merely lets out a thoughtful hum as he mulls over your words. You give him no additional hints regarding what’s bothering you – other than the thick amount of saliva you need to swallow as his blood calls out to you across the light breeze.
“And yet you’re thirsty.”
“I’m a vampire, that’s not exactly unusual for me, is it?” You counter, shooting him an unamused glance from the corner of your eye.
“No… but not like this. You look like you’re craving something.” His tone takes on a teasing lilt and that signature smirk of his tugs at the corners of his lips, making you wish to smack it right from his face.
“And you look utterly insufferable.” You scowl, fangs glinting in the light. But your irritation only seems to delight him.
"You don’t hate me, not really~” He replies in that same teasing drawl.
“How much are you willing to bet on that?” You retort in a tone so faux-sweet that it’s almost sickly, allowing your fangs to extend from your smirk. He seems to perk up a little and you can’t help but laugh at the way you hear his heart flutter. “Really?” You raise your brows as you look him up and down. “Does that work on Jeanne?”
“She’s not talking to me anymore.” He shrugs off, getting more comfortable in how he’s sitting. This piques your interest and you don’t like that it does.
“No? Why not? Did she finally realise that you’re utterly insane?”
“I’m not sure. She wouldn’t tell me why, but she did say it has to do with me being part of the blue moon clan.”
“Well that’s not really surprising; that’s enough to put any vampire off, even if she’s willing to see past the fact you’re human.”
“Ouch.” He puts his hand to his chest as though you’ve hurt him, making you roll your eyes. “And what about you?”
You pause as you consider how to word your forming opinion on him, “I initially thought you were utterly insane too… but I’ve since come to see there’s at least some method to your madness.”
“Dare I say that sounds like praise?” He grins like a cat who knows it’s just done wrong. You merely roll your eyes, not wanting to encourage him by giving him whatever witty remark he’s fishing for. The wind picks up and you find yourself having to swallow a mouthful of saliva again. He lets out a small sigh upon realising you’re not going to just give in and admit to your thirst and so he begins to untie his cravat.
“What are you doing?” You look at him as though he’s grown a second head – what human bears their throat willingly to a vampire?
“Sating your thirst.” He replies simply, popping the top few buttons of his shirt to reveal the expanse of his pale skin above his collarbones. You scoff.
“Nevermind what I said earlier, you really are insane.”
“I mean it. Drink. It’s not like I haven’t given my blood before.” Your fingers tap against the rooftop as you consider his offer – it’s certainly tempting. But what would people think if they found out? Found out that you drank the blood of a human, of a human under the blue moon clan no less…
“I can’t take up your offer.” You decline reluctantly, wetting your lips as your throat feels dry at your own choice, “I only drink the blood of those I trust most, it’s just how I am.”
“Only the blood of partners, you mean?” He teases with a tilt of his head, letting his collar fall down further to tease you with more skin.
“Not necessarily, just… Someone I’m really close to. I know I’m a vampire and it’s a commonplace act but still… it’s intimate to be sucking against someone’s skin like that.” You give a little shrug.
“And what’s making you keep me at arm’s length?”
“You’re too observant sometimes and I hate it.”
“Avoidance then, not denial?” You bite at the inside of your lip once more and he reaches up towards your face. You give him a questioning look and lean away from his outstretched arm a little but he merely stays as he is, waiting silently for your permission so he may continue. You lean forwards again and his thumb gently tugs against your lower lip to free it from your biting teeth. “Why not just… drink and see where this goes? I can tell that you want to… so why are you holding yourself back?”
"You have no idea how much I want to tell you everything, but I’m scared of losing what we have." You let out a breath that trembles slightly, “Well maybe scared isn’t the right word but just… I don’t know. I don’t want to mess with the pace of things.”
He nods once, clearly pondering your words. Truly considering your feelings and reluctance.
“Very well. Then let’s just stay here, together. No words needed.” He replies and somehow it’s the best answer you feel you could have got from him. “The offer is still on the table though, should you want to take it.” You nod to show you’ve heard him as your gaze fixes back to the city skyline stretching out for miles before your eyes.
The silence is pleasant, filled with distant sounds of all the lives playing out on the ground below you. Still, the breeze carries the appetising aroma of Vanitas’ blood over your way and you find yourself leaning closer and closer to him until your breath is fanning over his warm skin and he’s tilting his head further back welcomingly…

It was a slight chilly night as Vanitas sat on the roof of the Hotel Chouchou. The breeze of the night came through slowly, the wind flowing through his hair lightly. It was funny, how the city of Paris still looked almost alive at night. The soft glow of lights speckled the city.
Vanitas wore a dully melancholic expression as he stated at the city. It was eerily quiet as he numbly stared out.
The sound of soft foot steps approaching notified him someone was near, though he stayed perfectly still. "... It's late y'know?" He said, his face shifting to a light smirk as he looked behind him. There you stood, the eye bags under your eyes evident as you stared down at him, before turning to the city. "You're up too, non?"
He huffed as he looked away, placing his hand to his face. "This is why you're so exhausted all the time y'know?" He scolded you lightly. "It's fine." You nodded.
There was silence as you stood behind him quietly. Vanitas glanced behind him, noticing how you wore the same, dull expression he'd worn not so long ago. What could you be thinking about? Sometimes it was hard to remember that you were also a broken person such as himself. Honestly, he'd rather not think about it.
You let out a light yawn as you finally sat down beside him. Vanitas chuckled at your drowsiness as he looked back out to the city again. You sat there for a long while, just the two of you and the sounds of the dead Paris Streets.
Vanitas could feel you shiver beside him lightly as he sighed. "Why are you out here anyways? You're obviously exhausted." He said annoyed. "I'm always like this." You shook your head. He scoffed out a chuckle as he nodded. "Well duh, stating the obvious."
The eeiry silence once again enraptured the two of you. Vanitas mentally scolded himself as his thoughts couldn't be cleared of you. Your presence beside him somehow managed to break through the barriers he'd carefully constructed. It was exhausting, the way his mind couldn't ever stop thinking about you.
"I don't get it," he muttered, a hint of frustration tainting his words. "Why do you push yourself so hard, running on empty all the time?" His gaze shifted to you, attempting to decipher your expression.
You shrugged with an indifferent expression. "Dunno.." at this Vanitas stared at you more. Your gaze met his, and for a moment, something softened in his eyes. Uncomfortable with the vulnerability, he turned his attention back to the city lights.
"I guess I've been like this for awhile." You mumbled out. Vanitas glanced up at you again. "Sleep just doesn't really come that easily, even if it's all I crave. You know, you're not the only one with demons," you said softly, your gaze fixed on the distant horizon. "We all carry our burdens, Vanitas."
He scoffed, his wall being built within him once more. "I don't need your pity." "It's not pity," your tone was gentle. "It's understanding."
For a moment, Vanitas looked away, not wanting to listen. Then, with a sigh that carried the weight of unspoken emotions, he spoke. "Understanding won't change anything."
"Maybe. But I can hope it helps ease it.. Just being there. Even in the silence of the night." You finished.
Your words hung in the air as another silence engulfed the both of you. Vanitas found himself momentarily at a loss for words.
As Vanitas tried to regain his composure, he stole another glance at you. There was a softness in your worn out eyes that echoed the vulnerability he often tried to bury. It was a vulnerability he couldn't quite comprehend.
Vanitas sighed as he looked away again. "You talk too much." He huffed out. You merely shrugged, a small but genuine smile playing on your lips. "It's a talent, I suppose."
He let out a scoff, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes—perhaps a hint of gratitude. After a few moments, another yawn escaped your lips. You glanced up at him slightly. "It's weird.. you're one of the most unbearable, scary people I've ever met." "Okay, ouch." He commented, letting you continue.
Your eyes closed for a second before opening again in defiance, "But I feel the most relaxed when I'm with you." You finished.
The contradiction between tonight's conversations and the usual banter between you two left him momentarily speechless. His attempt to mask his surprise with a scoff was futile as he grew embarrassed.
"You're delusional if you think I'm someone you should find relaxing," he retorted. Yet, the subtle tint of pink on his cheeks portrayed the effect of your words. "Probably." You mumbled out, slowly blinking.
Your yawns persisted, and a drowsy smile lingered on your lips as you observed Vanitas's futile attempts to deflect your words. "You're just spouting nonsense because you're half-asleep." He shifted away from you. "Sure, that's what I'm doing."
The silence made him glance up again, noticing you staring into the city lights, closing and reopening your eyes every few seconds. He couldn't help but stare at you for a bit, before jerking his head back to the city himself.
"You should.. Let yourself sleep." He mumbled out. You looked over with slightly surprised eyes, before your face slowly softened. "..thanks, Vanitas."
"yeah, yeah whatever.." he embarrassedly mumbled, looking away from you. You chuckled, continuing to stare at the beautiful pairs sky together.
Sorry I'm late in posting I got busy with my studies
Imagine loving the man who knew who didn't want you except for the passionate nights you two spend together. Who crashes his lips against yours with no thoughts of consequence. The very man who kept you warm under the sheets till you slept, slipping away just as your eyes fluttered close. Who insisted you keep it casual, knowing the gentleness of your eyes, a sign of your love towards him that he reminded will be forever unrequited. He was not one for love, you knew that, yet why couldn't you remember that fact when he peppered you with kisses along your neck? When his hand caresses your body, your face. Where was all logic as he whispered sweet nothings into your ear, his lips trailing down everywhere. It wasn't casual, at least it wasn't for you. He always reminded you, “No attachments, love” but how could you not get attached to him?

𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐦: Vanitas No Carte
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Vanitas, Jeanne, Dominique, Noé
𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: x GN!Reader (not specified)
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 + 𝐓𝐖: Hurt/Comfort; No Trigger Warnings
Vanitas
• He knows you’re upset long before you even cry
• He’s not blind; he reads people like a book (it’s just that it's easier to pretend he doesn’t care)
• He’ll make an offhand comment like “You look awful. What happened?”
• While his words sting, his tone seems unusually soft
• When you can’t answer, he sighs, seems genuinely irritated, but still drapes his coat around your shoulders
• The scent of his coat, faint smoke, pine, and something like the fragrance of freah ink feels oddly grounding
• He never asks why right away
• Vanitas waits until you start talking, then listens in an outwardly disinterested silence
• He’s awkward when it comes to (genuine) physical comfort. He’ll hover, maybe brush a tear from your cheek with gloved fingers, then retreat
• Later, he’ll joke about it »» “Don’t make this a habit, I’m not your therapist.” «« but his eyes soften in a way that betrays the truth (okay, he would probably not say this, as therapy was not a thing back then, and frankly, he needs it himself more than anyone lol)
Jeanne
• At first, she freezes. She’s never quite sure what she’s supposed to do. Her instincts are sharp in battle, but not in moments like these...
• She’ll hover near you, fingers twitching, wanting to reach out but not daring to without permission
• When she does move closer, her voice trembles: “May I…?” »» waiting for even the smallest nod from you
• Once she’s sure she’s allowed, she’s surprisingly warm with her hands on your shoulders, careful but steady
• She’ll offer her handkerchief (a white one, lace-trimmed in pink, and faintly perfumed with the scent of rose)
• Jeanne listens more than she speaks, but her silence never ever feels cold. It’s more of a quiet shelter <3
• If you cry harder, she pulls you into her arms, and her hold is firm, protective. The kind that says: you’re safe now
• Her blush comes only after »» when she realizes what she’s done. She stammers, “I… I didn’t mean to be so forward—”
• But the next time you’re upset, she doesn’t hesitate. She just holds out her arms ^^
Dominique de Sade
• When she first sees your tears, she chuckles lightly, trying to lift the mood: “My, my… you’ll make a mess of your lovely face if you keep crying like that.”
• But when she realizes you’re truly hurting, her tone shifts to something much softer
• She guides you somewhere private, away from prying eyes. “Come, let’s not give them a show.”
• Domi is very tactile in a way that she will fix your hair, wipe your tears, straighten your collar if necessary »» small grounding gestures that say she cares
• She talks softly about silly things at first, trying to make you smile before tackling the real issue
• When you do open up, she listens quietly, occasionally brushing her thumb over your hand
• She’s not afraid to call out anyone who hurt you. “Whoever made you cry… they’ll regret it.”
• Afterwards, she insists on something small to lift your spirits »» perhaps tea, a walk, or a little gift she will absolutely buy for you, no matter how many times you say no <3
• Her comfort lingers; she’ll send a teasing letter later: “Feeling better, darling? You do owe me a smile now, though.”
Noé Archiviste
• The moment he notices your tears, his eyes widen in pure panic. “Did I do something wrong?!”
• Once you reassure him, he relaxes, though only a little...
• He’s still visibly worried, tailing your every breath
• Noé doesn’t push you to talk. He sits beside you, patient as ever, letting silence do the work
• When you finally start speaking, he listens with full attention, no interruptions, no platitudes, just presence
• His empathy is almost tangible. He’ll nod quietly, offering a gentle, “That must have hurt a lot.”
• If he can help, he will. Whether that means finding someone, fixing something, or just sitting there while you cry it out
• When words fail, he’s quick to hug. No hesitation. His hugs are strong, warm, and very grounding to be engulfed in
• He offers practical help too »» “Would you like some tea? Or a blanket?” »» like he’s read somewhere that’s what humans need (brother, this sounds like vampires never cry... but you get what i mean)
• Later, he’ll check in softly: “Are you feeling lighter now?” »» and genuinely wants to hear your answer

omfg you're cooking with the vnc headcanons 0_0 it's like you interviewed the characters; they all fit them so well! do you have any sort of hcs like that for noe? (angstier or general!)
Noé Headcanons | Vanitas No Carte
Summary: Simply some of my headcanons for Noe Archiviste.
Warnings: Spoilers to vnc, specifically Noe's and Dominique's past, ahead. Aside from that, nothing but a little angst here and there per your request. Read at your own volition!
A/N: I suck at angst so sorry that this is mainly general headcanons 😓

⇻ It's canon that Noe started having trouble sleeping without a hugging something after Louis's death. That said, I like to imagine the reason is because he used to cuddle up to Louis whenever he'd let him and grew so used to it that not being pressed up against something — or someone — in his sleep unnerves him because it reminds him of his death.
⇻ Noe has given himself food poisoning more than once and it's always when he tries to cook himself something.
⇻ He has a thing for long hair and loves carding and playing in people's hair but never gets many chances to do so.
⇻ As a kid, he used to nick himself on his fangs a lot.
⇻ Following the months after Louis's death, Noe couldn't stomach much food and would kick up panic attacks often because everything reminded him of Louis. It got to the point that Dominique had to beg her parents to shelter Noe for a week or so to get him out of that house.
⇻ If his teacher didn't assign him to locate the Book of Vanitas, I like to think he'd travel the world!
⇻ Assertive, hot-headed, and or aggressive people make him a bit to very nervous depending on who they are. He's the most worried about setting them off accidentally and kinda just keeps to himself unless spoken or gestured to.
⇻ He can read and write a bit of English! He gets tongue tied trying to speak it though..
⇻ He loves tea but couldn't drink it for the longest time after Louis's death because it reminded him of the tea times they used to have together.
⇻ Noe kept accidentally referring to Dominique as Louis when she cut her hair short and he felt horrible for it. He also avoided her a little until her hair started growing back and she started looking more like herself again.
⇻ His giving love language is quality time while his receiving is a mix of physical touch and words of affirmation.
⇻ He's clumsy when he gets excited and can't stop moving either. Seriously, someone put him on a leash him.
⇻ Has knots on his head from every time he's fallen off his bed ( which happens almost all the time )
⇻ Has a thing for longer nails and likes the feeling of them dragging along his skin and scratching at his scalp.
⇻ Disney-princess coded. Animals are always following him around and he so talks to them on occasion.
⇻ He loved Louis's voice and always asked him to read him stories until he fell asleep, tell him about his day ( despite literally going through the day with him ), and just random questions to get him talking. He also loved the way he called his name, but after his death he was tormented by it and couldn't sleep at night.

You knew who he was.
You had heard the stories.
You had seen some of the aftermath of his “jobs.”
You very well knew who Roland Fortis was.
That didn’t mean you had to like him.
“I’m sorry, what?!” Your snap is heard through the doors and down the halls. You hear your father’s underlings scatter when your famous temper raises its head.
Your father, ever the stoic man, is unperturbed and merely steeples his fingers before him. His elbows rest on his expensive desk, and there’s a rocks glass with some whiskey and ice beside his calloused hands.
“I’m employing someone to look after you.” He says simply, and you notice the other man in the room.
Tall, at least six feet, if not more, with piercing green eyes and curly blond hair. He’s dressed in a pressed black suit with a dual-sided spear in its holster across his back.
You knew this weapon. Durandal. Wielded by only one man.
Roland Fortis.
But that didn’t matter.
“Why?! I’m perfectly capable of taking care of myself!” You all but shriek and slam your hands down on the desk. It ruffles a few papers, but as always, your father doesn’t have a hair out of place.
“That may be. But your brother has angered some rather… dangerous people. It’s best to have someone to watch after you until this all blows over.” He said, and you roll your eyes.
Of course, your idiot brother would do something stupid.
“So I’m to be babysat by someone random for who knows how long?” You snap, and your father’s eyebrow arches lightly.
“My dearest daughter, you are the heir to this family and the family business. Do you really think I’d employ “someone random” to protect you?” He says sternly and gestures to Roland Fortis, who still has yet to say a word.
“This is Roland Fortis. He’ll be guarding you for the time being.” He says, and it’s then that Roland steps forward and extends a hand. You glare at him, but when your father gives you a sharp look, you shake his hand reluctantly.
His hands are calloused and rough from years of handling weapons and a past stained in blood and carnage.
“I look forward to working with you.” He says, much kinder than you expected. You nod glumly,
“Likewise.” You mumbled, obviously not really meaning it.
And you could tell that he could tell.
You find out very quickly that Roland isn’t like the other bodyguards you’ve had in the past. He was oddly chatty, oddly kind, and just… odd all around.
He'd ask you about your day, even though he was with you almost twenty-four-seven. He seemed genuinely interested in what you did in your day-to-day life.
Was this just a ruse? Was he secretly someone trying to get close to your father?
No… That couldn't be it. He seemed so… Genuine? One of the only genuine people you had met in the criminal underworld.
What an odd man…
The sound of a window sliding open roused you from your slumber. Well… Slumber wasn't the right word. You were more dozing than anything. But nonetheless, the sound of your bedroom window opening had you on high alert.
You turn over, feigning sleep, and the sound stops. Once you still, the noise resumes. And then, just on the edge of your hearing, you hear the slightest creaking of a floorboard.
Someone was inside.
Roland was stationed outside your door. How could you get his attention? Screaming maybe? Or…
Your hand reached under your pillow and curled around the 9 millimeter handgun you kept there. You carefully kept your finger off the trigger, but pulled the loaded weapon under your blanket and switched off the safety.
All the while, more and more people stepped into your room. You heard at least four or five creaks of the floorboards.
Four or five enemies…
Could you take them?
Should you try and alert Roland somehow?
Cracking open an eyelid just the barest bit, you spotted the enemies. And there were a lot more than four or five.
"Hurry! Just kill her and get it over with! Before Fortis knows we're here!" Someone hissed, and you heard a muffled curse and the drawing of a sword.
It was then that you sprang into action.
There was an explosion of noise and blankets as you jolted up and squeezed the trigger. The gunshot was deafening, but it did the trick. People scattered, the door slammed open, and there was the whisper of steel as Roland drew his weapon and joined the fray.
You realized you had never seen him fight before. He was all sunshine and smiles, gentle hands on your back as you walked, and jubilant laughter as you said something snarky.
But now?
It was… Scary…
He moved with the grace of a panther, dressed in his customary black suit, wielding Durandal as if it weighed little more than a feather. He sliced down men as if they were nothing. Because to him, they were nothing.
And watching him fight was… Beautiful.
The cleanup crew cleaned with clinical precision. Bodies were rolled up in layers of plastic wrap, tarp, and duct tape to make them easier to transport. Your floorboards were scrubbed within an inch of their life, and you were quickly taken out of the room to be assessed for injuries.
Of course, there were none. Other than some ringing from the initial gunshot, and a scratch on your cheek, you were fine.
"Your father will want to speak with you." The doctor checking you over said as he packed up his medical supplies that he didn't need and left. You just nodded numbly.
And then you were alone with Roland.
He was stationed by the door, and for once, he was silent. No chatter, not even a peep out of him. And it only took a few moments for you to get tired of it.
"Don't blame yourself." You snap at the taller, blond man, and he looks up, spooked at the prospect of being spoken to.
"Pardon?" He says, and you roll your eyes,
"Don't blame yourself. It's obvious you are. For letting people get in and attack me, just… Don't blame yourself. It wasn't your fault." You say, quickly losing steam when he looks at you with wide eyes.
Roland approaches you after a few seconds, reaching forward to brush his thumb against your cheek as he cups it and sighs. It was a tender touch, one you were not used to after years of working for your father.
It almost made you cry.
"But it is my fault. I was hired to protect you, yet you almost died. How could I live with myself if that happened?" He says quietly, and you huff,
"But nothing happened. You got to me in time, and I'm not exactly helpless, Roland."
He chuckles at your words, "No, you are not. Far from it."
