It's a question posed by Kansas City indie-pop group Shy Boys in a statement on their new album, Bell House. Their track "Evil Sin" makes nice use of this harmony, as a layered, a cappella choir piece transitions to bright, jangly pop. Their new album Bell House is out Aug. 3 on Polyvinyl.
Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu āalayhi wa sallam) said, "Whoever amongst you sees an evil, he must change it with his hand; if he is unable to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is unable to do so, then with his heart; and that is the weakest form of Faith". [Muslim]. Commentary: This Hadith contains a very important prescription to prevent the Muslim society from all things which are forbidden in Islam. So long as Muslims adhered to it and ceaselessly and fearlessly performed their obligation of enjoining the right and forbidding the wrong, their society was largely safe from many evils and sins.

Coziness between church and state is good for the state and bad for the church
Herein lies the chief danger to grace. The state, which runs by rules of ungraceāthe entire āworldā doesāgradually drowns out the churchās sublime message of grace.
The church works best as a force of resistance, a counterbalance to the consuming power of the state. The cozier it gets with government, the more watered-down its message becomes. Can you imagine any government enacting a set of laws based on Jesusā āSermon on the Mount?ā A state government can shut down stores and theatres on Sunday, but it cannot compel worship. It can arrest and punish murderers, but cannot cure their hatred much less teach them loveā¦It can give subsidies to the poor, but cannot force the rich to show them compassion and justice. It can ban adultery but not lust, theft but not covetousness, cheating but not pride. It can encourage virtue but not holiness.
choose contentment over greed
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. 1 Timothy 6:10
I remember one day when a friend and I were passing by a beautiful, huge office building. I asked him, āWhat company is that?ā And he answered, āWell, thereās nobody in that building. Itās vacantā¦ and itās been vacant since the day it was built.ā
So I asked him, āWell, why hasnāt anyone moved in? That building is immaculate!ā He went on to say, āThat building is a monument to greed. You see, it was built before the economy collapsed with big hopes of being filled with businesses. But they havenāt been able to lease one space out.ā
Greed is everywhere. And while we like to relegate it to the āfat catsā on Wall Street, greed is just as prevalent in cities and towns across our nation as people trying to ākeep up with the Jonesesā and acquire more and more toys and gadgets. And Christians are most definitely not immune, many of whom canāt even give because theyāre in so much debt!
Money is not the root of all evil, but the love of money is. So instead of greed, choose contentment. Donāt let money be your idol, but stay firmly committed to God, knowing that all you have belongs to Him!
DONāT LET GREED CREEP UP AND CONSUME YOU. INSTEAD, COMMIT ALL YOU HAVE TO GOD BECAUSE ITāS ALL HIS!
