I got a new pair of headphones that are much crisper than my speakers or earbuds, and in listening to a studio recording video (that I had before, multiple times, just not on these), I (for the first time) heard one of the musicians whisper "Don't fuck up".
Sometimes, we hold ourselves back and hide our potential in fear of excelling beyond our expectations. You expect failure; you don’t do it. You expect good; you don’t go beyond it. You expect great; you fear being the best. It’s okay to not do something well; if you try, you haven’t failed. If you don’t try, I won’t say you fail, but you’ll never know. It’s okay to not be good, or great, or be the best at something. We have learned to expect less, of people and of ourselves. The less you expect, the less disappointment. That can definitely be true. It’s okay to not reach your goals. That is true, but don’t not reach them because you fear being as good as or better than what you (or others) expected. Live up to and beyond your potential and don’t fear the greatness that is within yourself.
