Ok imagine a nonplussed Alec at Disneyland. Izzy and Jace are so happy because they never went as children because they lived in New York so one year during spring break they decide to go. And Alec being Alec doesn’t enjoy the crowds or the heat. They go about their day and he cheers up a bit meeting the characters and going on the rides. And then they’re in line for space mountain and its soooo long and Alec is this close to leaving when he notices that the guy in front of them is breathtaking and he can’t take his eyes off him. He’s wearing sequined minnie ears and he’s way more interesting than any of the princesses Alec has seen. They go on the ride and Alec is kind of bummed again because he’ll probably never see that guy again and there was something about him that Alec couldn’t quite place. 

Clary was nearing her breaking point. She was tired, she was stressed, and she still didn’t have a bed. She had been carrying boxes upstairs all day because the elevator in her new building was broken. Not a good sign. Then next her mother got stuck in traffic with her boxes of clothes. She knew that moving was supposed to be difficult, but she had never anticipated it being this bad. 

At the age of 22 she may have been a bit old to be moving out for the first time, she had lived at home through school, and now that it was here she was beginning to regret it. The commute from her mom’s place wasn’t that bad and maybe her mom and Luke’s newlywed phase would end and they would stop being so disgustingly cute. But, she knew that cutting down her commute would give her more time to sleep and that she did not  want to make her mother feel uncomfortable with showing affection to her new husband. She also knew that at some point she had to leave the nest. 

But things were not looking good. Her mother had made it, but Luke was working later than expected and he was supposed to bring her bed and other furniture. And her mother had left and Simon wasn’t available. So here she was sitting on the ground, alone, in a brand new apartment. And it was nearing dinnertime and she had nothing to eat. She debated ordering take out, but decided to go out and eat. She had to get accustomed to her new area. Clary got up took a look at her boxes and sighed. She crossed her nearly empty apartment and exited. As she was turning and walking away, she bumped into someone. 

“Can’t you look where you’re going? Seriously.” Clary turned completely around to face the person. But Clary, being shorter than average, came face to chest. She looked up and saw that the dude was a giant. The dudes eyebrows were drawn together in frustration. Clary was about to apologize when someone else spoke up. 

“Alec, please don’t scare our new neighbor.” The guy, Alec as the new voice had called him, turned and gave Clary her first glimpse at the prettiest girl she had ever seen. The girl stepped forward and smiled. “I’m Izzy. Sorry about my brother. He’s not the most patient person.” Clary smiled back, 

“It’s fine. I’m Clary by the way. Quick question, do you know of any good places to eat around here?” By this point Alec had started heading toward the stairs and they were alone. Izzy smiled brighter. 

“Why don’t I do you one better and show you. We were supposed to meet Alec’s boyfriend for dinner anyway and I’d rather not third-wheel them.” 

“Well, I’ll accept, but on one condition.” At Izzy’s raised brow Clary continued. “Can it be a date?” Clary waited with bated breath as Izzy smiled brighter. 

“Then its a date.”
