The family next to me at this Chili's.

Two daughters. One has to be maybe 5at best. The other probably 8. Both walk in with tablets in their ergo cases playing music or noise and it down. Glued to the screens. Parents come in. Sit down. Glued to their phones. Dad hasn't said a word other than to ask their daughters to stop interrupting them when he speaks to wife or waiter.

Yo fuckers.... Your kids are begging for engagement with you and all you can provide foe them is a screen? They have questions and you gave them your phone to play on while their tablet plays?

Is it so fucking hard to actually engage with your children? To fucking treat them with basic fucking decency?

To not let their life be experienced through thr high saturation of tech?

Is there irony of posting this online? No. Because there is nuance. I exist plentifully offline. And am not an adolescent...

The amount of edu-tech or displacement of socialization at such a young age contemptable.

Not a single person would pick me up. I would have done that for each person, and thought they'd do the same....

I realized how alone I'd been my whole life that moment. I knew if I stopped walking I'd collapse, and I couldn't turn around. So I just had to keep going forward knowing I'd go the distance for everyone who'd never consider passing me The salt.

Bro. How am I in both the best and worst shape of my life. I can still throw flips with ease and do all my breakdancing like I used to. My martial arts poi and skating.

I always believed growing up, if I stayed active, worked hard, endured... I'd stay keen on my hobbies, youthful, attractive, virile, strong.... How come I never seem to be strong enough... Anything-enough.

It really is a sysiphian challenge of life. We keep rolling thst rock up a hill. Hoping tomorrow the pinnacle will be closer. The bottom with be farther. That there will be fewer dishes, even if we are afraid of being alone. That we will not be as tired as the day before, or tomorrow. But we keep doing it. The outcome never changes as we step the same steps laid before us. Laid out in brass pedestrian mall waltz steps as part of a civic improvement project. That we could even just give up and accept the shadow of what success could have been. That we could exist in failure. That we could succeed. That progress could be made.

Why do my posts on IG PALE in comparison of  the interaction of LIKES and COMMENTS than blogs 1/3rd my size.

DO I need to update my tag block to get featured more or something?

Like I average maybe 20 likes, and the comments I do get, when they are bot accounts, are actually comments and not just FIRE EMOJI

but like a new blog that followed me has 4 poems posted and they’re...okay? but they have maybe 100 folowers to my near 400, and get average 40-50 likes and 8-14 comments PER POST

I don’t get it.

I hate spending time on IG so that could by why, but I still like, comment, and share other poets... and am shared by other poets, just... not nearly the interaction.

But I also don’t see NEARLY as much rhyming poetry.

IG poetry is Micropoetry and Freeverse/blankverse/open verse.

Very little of it is technical or using any sort of form or structure. Which is probably why some of my poems where I have a thematic breakdown the form also breaks down is missed.

Like that is clever shit, and its just overlooked.

I just don’t get why like. Even When i share my poem on my personal. Itll get 50+ views. Ill have people tell me irl how much they like my poems. AND THEN THEY ARENT FOLLOWING OR DOING SHIT ON MY PAGE.
