Dude I just rewatched Ensign Ro for the first time since high school and omg. If I watched that episode with no context, I would've thought every character was an asshole except for Ro and Guinan (and don't get me wrong, in that episode they were).
The scene where Riker dress-codes her and makes her take off her earring?? Even though characters like Troi don't even need to wear the uniform?? Literally so fucked up. I think about if someone did that to me when I was a hijabi and it makes my skin crawl. I don't care how much attitude she had, they should know not to do that and what it symbolizes already if there are supposedly other Bajorans in Starfleet!!
I love her so much I just want to give her a hug, However the episode does do a really good job of showing the flaws in Starfleet diplomacy and the Prime Directive!
