okay I'd like to preface this by saying that I'm only caught up till like season 4(?) in the anime/manga
but I absolutely hate the endeavour redemption arc. like I *get* it. I do. but as someone who has gone through trauma? I fucking despise it.
yes people can change for the better but that does not excuse any of the shit that they did in the past, it doesn't immediately make them worthy of forgiveness. and it fucking sucks seeing people praise the person that hurt you for years.
anyways fuck endeavour
Very unpopular opinion: It would have been more narratively satisfying if Endeavour died early on (like Stain arc or maybe even before the manga began). Not becuase I dont like him, I don't but it's not because of that, but becuase I think the thing about endeavour is that the most important thing is the way he affects the people around him. We would get an even more interesting relationship dynamic between his children and the IDEA of him. Also we don't have to have a child abuser excusing his actions and we can have the focus on his victims instead. I think in a world without Endeavour nothing would change but there would be even more nuance to the way he has affected his children. Thinking about Todoroki in the sports festival struggling both with loss and hatred. Unable to move past the things his father has done to him but knowing that now the blame for his actions and behavior is fully on him. Dabi still having all that anger and grief but unable to take it out on Endeavour he turns to his family for retribution which would honestly make more sense then his canon modivations against his family which is "well your endeavors perfect son so fuck you" into "you are the only remainder of my fucked up childhood and i don't know where to put the anger I have so I'm going to get revenge on the remainders of who I used to be"
