Anyway I watched some videos from "Enchated Mob".

I understand that some call it cringe; I for my part find most of the videos I watched quite enjoyable especially the Daddy Longlegs´ short.

Disclaimer: This one’s the most ridiculous theory I’ve came up with. Like, ever. But I feel like it’d be better to get it out there rather than just not post it and end up being right.

Let’s talk about Rich

Here are some names of the Poppy Playtime characters, spot the odd one out:

Laith Pierre - Stella Greyber - Elliot Ludwig - Avery Fri - Jimmy Roth - Marcas Brickley - Patty Hall - Rich

Rich is the one character to not have a last name.

Also, both tapes of his are taken from a security camera. But they’re the only security camera tapes, none of the others are. The only commonality that the sole two security tapes share is that Rich is present in both of them - and for that matter, both of them have “Rich” labelled as the sole fact about them (except for Avery’s name on the first one, but even then he was noted down secondary to Rich).

Also, if you’ll recall the adverts for the merch, we can see Pierre has a habit of firing workers whenever they mildly annoy him. Rich has supposedly been complaining for years - why hasn’t he been fired yet? Why has he simply been demoted instead of let go?

Elliot Ludwig

What if Poppy wasn’t Ludwig’s deceased daughter?

There is no mention that the loved one Ludwig lost was a daughter. There was not even a mention that it was a child.

And if she did die, why did Ludwig try to bring her back as a doll, of all things?

Furthermore, the death is said to have taken place in the 1960s, but Poppy was invented in 1950, from the…*sigh* NFTS.

The Theory

Rich isn’t human

If Rich’s last name was going to ever be revealed, then…what surname would actually mean anything? If it was just any surname, then there’d be no point in revealing it. If it was revealed to be the same as any other character, that also wouldn’t mean anything for most of them. His name being Rich Pierre or Rich Greyber only really tells us that they were related, nothing special. The only surname that would be worth revealing would be Rich Ludwig, because that implicates Rich as being the one Ludwig lost.

That’s why Rich is the only employee being taped on the security cameras - he’s not an employee in the same way everyone else is: he’s an experiment. They likely have him “working” there in an attempt to hide the truth from him. That’s why he hasn’t been fired yet. They can’t let him leave.

Adding onto the previous point, remember what Poppy tells us at the end of the chapter? That we’re “too perfect to lose”? This is the name of the music that plays in Rich’s room in chapter 2:

He hasn’t been let go because he’s too perfect to lose. He’s the only experiment that looks human enough to pass off as such.

He’s also got the little violent streak that almost every other toy shares - we see him throw things in a fit of rage in chapter 2

Rich being sent to the rejected toy area also makes symbolic sense - he’s being sent where he supposedly belongs.

This is also why he wouldn’t have his last name shown. Molly, Ludwig’s ex wife, also doesn’t have her last name shown. Maybe Rich took Molly’s maiden name after the divorce, if he was their son.
