It's the only place I can hear it's beatings

I stopped listening to people when the walls started talking

They said "let me hold you,

You won't need anything else."

So I hugged dingy walls and cold floors

The fridge was as empty as me

And I knew no satisfaction

The nights were long

But the days were longer

I spent years searching for my heart

And I lost so much time feeling like a criminal in a hollow cage

Passers say

"Do your time!

Don't let the time do you."

But my eyes now show wrinkles

As I attempt to smile

And my frowns have lines

My eyebrows have a mad line down the middle

My hair has greyed

And I done seen the world pass by

Just from this door way

I been strangled by hate

Suffocated by fear

And killed at the hands of love

Like I ghost I wander this empty home

Dreading the sounds of a knock

I'm gonna have to come out

Cause nobody's getting in!

And love don't live in this home

No heart would ever survive!
