I am grateful that Sarge got to come home for one final night to share a bed, as we have done since he was 4 months old. He lived to be 14 years old, but his body just gave out on him. He was the sweetest cuddler, an immense pain in the butt, an absolute goofball, and a lesson in unconditional love. He was the first dog I raised from puppyhood, the first I took care of as I became an adult, and he was my child's first dog. He remains loved.
