I just tried adding "animated gif" to my blacklist in both Tumblr Savior and New XKit (separately, not at the same time) and both of them blocked your posts tagged "cw: animated gif". So I don't know what everyone is talking about. Unless they're talking about blacklisting on mobile, which I have no experience with.
Same. I never used to have trouble when I set up the tag, which is a very old one, TBF. I seem to be able to block everything ok with New XKit, which is new to me, but it seems to work.
I can’t blacklist on mobile, but I’ve never tried! (I have a decent mobile data plan, but for the past few years I’ve had limited wifi, since we were boaters and had a mobile-dongle-thing. So historically I would blacklist all data-heavy media on my computer and only look at my Tumblr dash on my phone, because otherwise I’d use up a month’s internet in a day.)
Anyway, I’ve always been able to block everything perfectly happily, and only realized there might be a problem with my tags when y’all told me this week that you COULDN’T blacklist my items if they had “CW” in front. I can do it, but it appears that some people can’t.
I’m completely willing to believe all experiences. I would believe anything of this hellsite.
I’m willing to make this a more disability-friendly place by broadening and changing my definitions if my good buddies here need that. I don’t want to make a space that Accessible for Everybody Always, but I don’t want to cause people pain. So there is the flashing gif tag if people need that.
I don’t want to make it easy to browse, though. I want it to be a vaguely irritating journey, like going to a bookstore in a country where you don’t speak the language, because your Kindle has crashed and you’re trying to find something to read on the plane, and you’re like “I SUPPOSE I could buy this Finnish knitting magazine. I mean, it’ll be a new experience.” And then you end up quite liking one of the Fairisle patterns in it, because it’s pretty different. So it’s like irritating but rewarding. Also I want to have like 10 followers, and squat in a hole in a muddy hillside with y’all, grunting encouragingly and nodding at the patterns created by tossing animal bones on the floor.
