The Allure Of Frost
Despite the below freezing overnight temps, the water fountain didn’t freeze:Â

The fountain didn’t freeze but our hummingbird feeders did. Although ruby-throats are the only hummingbirds that breed here & are long gone by now, we keep the feeders filled year round because our area sometimes get stray Western species like the Rufous hummingbird that, even though the numbers are small, seem to be increasingly overwintering here:Â
