When ICE agents arrested over 300 Korean workers at a Georgia battery plant, a daily immigrant arrest quota was likely on their minds.
On September 4, 2025, approximately 400 state and federal law enforcement personnel raided the battery plant. While they came upon 175 to 200 Latino workers, not all of them working unlawfully, ICE agents also encountered hundreds of South Korean workers.
They had orders to detain four (4!) Mexican workers, suspected of being here without paperwork. When they got there, they saw hundreds of Koreans, shrugged, and decided to arrest them too.
They deported 300+ properly documented Korean technicians!
That's what happens when you give a desperate pack of law enforcement bullies an absolutely insane quota (3000 arrests per day!) along with vague rules of engagement. Then you turn them loose into a target-rich environment and they.. arrest everyone.
This happened up the freeway from me, by the way. Georgians (even the Republican ones) are livid with rage because battery plants like this are perceived as the economic future here.
