Watching the differences between Uwe in the 1992 proshot and his performance with Pia in the Essen production is SO satisfying. 1992 Uwe’s Tod is calculating, intense, and otherworldly. An inhuman being. He still has traces of that in Essen, but he’s so tender with Elisabeth when they first meet. He’s--I wouldn’t say more expressive, just that I can tell he’s so in love with her. While I love his original version, Essen’s is magical. And I really love how his and Pia’s relationship affect how they play their characters 10 years later. It’s soft and good ;;
