Mortals Beware: A Short Guide to Fae-related Things
I’ve been around the Fae long enough to get a deeper insight of their ways, so I’ll be sharing a few important things in this post.
✧ Fae don’t take kindly to the words “thank you”
This is probably the most well-known thing about the Fae, but there’s a deeper meaning of why they hate those words beyond “it’s considered rude.”
To humans, it’s considered a form of respect. But to the Fae, words matter.
To the Fae, hearing the words “thank you” means you have closed appreciation toward them: the deed is done, and so is your gratitude. That is why many of them find it so offensive, whether or not you intended to say that.
On the other hand, in certain situations, saying the words “thank you” is a form of debt, as if to say, “I owe you (blank) for doing / saying (blank).” Some Fae might trick humans to say those words in order to bribe them into debt. (I’ve had Adrien do that to a friend of mine a few times.) Fae may say “thank you” as a form of debt (only in certain situations).
✧ Fairy Rings
There are multiple reasons why you SHOULDN’T even think of it in the first place:
Fairy rings are a sacred place. Fairy rings are filled with Fae energy. Fae dance around this portal, and it’s a sacred ground for them. A human to stepping foot in can have unforeseen consequences.
It is it highly disrespectful to the Fae to step foot if you have not been invited.
Even if you are invited, do not trust where it will lead you.
Yes, some fae do allow humans to step foot in a ring… But at what cost?
Fae lure humans in a fairy ring solely to take them away to Faery. However, fairy rings are only a spiritual portal for humans to the other side of Faery. If you’re away for too long, it can put a strain on your physical body, to the point of death.
Maybe there was a time where you stepped in a fairy ring and nothing happened… Not at first, anyway.
Some may send you off unharmed, but you might feel sleepy, or nauseated. Others may punish you for days, even months.Remember, this is their sacred ground, so your punishment will depend on how angry they are.
