Haven't had time to recover my Dragon Age Origins saves, so I could still continue Monty's run.. But here's his refsheet!
Some Character Lore & Headcanons about him.
He had a crush on Anders but his several escape attempts made it difficult to approach him often.
Monty was very socially withdrawn during Anders' latest escape attempt, which takes place not long before his Harrowing. He poured all his energy into studying and neglected the small friendships he had.
Cullen & Anders both assumed Monty was a girl and kind of never asked. Cullen had a crush on ''her.''
He and Anders shared a kiss once. (Anders didn't know he was a boy at the time.)
During Act 3 of Dragon Age 2, Monty is with Zevran when Hawke encounters him. This is when Anders learns Monty was a guy, it's very awkward.
Monty was very soft spoken and mumbled a lot during his time in the tower, which is why no one clocked his voice.
Due Monty's chronic shyness and conflict avoidance he rarely ever corrected anyone on his gender. Thinking it was easier to fit in with the girls at times.
His friendship with Jowan was quite one-sided, with Jowan mostly coming to him for favors, otherwise ignoring him.
Jowan was one of the few people his age who were actually aware of his gender. All though he'd blame it on ''elf androgny'' rather rudely.
His religious guilt is mostly the fault of the templar presence. Monty believes the Maker exists, but views him as a human-god, he has interest in Dalish culture & wishes to know more about lost Elven lore. Thinking the Maker cares little for elves.
His parents long left Lothering by the time he's able to leave the tower.
He is recruited alongside Sparrow, and doesn't earn the title ''hero of fereleden'' himself, since he didn't deal the killing blow.
At the end of his story, Monty leaves Ferelden with Zevran. The circle assumes he died in the battle.
He finds the whole concept behind the magi tower oppresive, seeing as the one thing held above mage's heads in his mind is blood magic, which he has no interest in using.
He's particularly interested in befriending Morrigan, who finds him very annoying.
Sparrow cannot stand him early on, finding him too unserious and childish. ''Asks too many questions.''
When confessed to by Cullen during the broken circle mage tower questline, Monty finally pipes up to awkwardly inform him he's a man. (In my headcanon, Cullen is a closeted Bisexual.)
His personality 360s from his shy, soft-spoken, prude & isolated mage to a rather loud, curious flamboyant young man.
Zevran is a biiiiig influence on his continued character development.
Don't mind me, but Emo sad supressed mage boy becoming a confident arcane warrior alongside the rest of the warden's party was something I had tucked away in my to-do's for a while.. (And is fun.)
Sparrow still remains my main guy for Dragon Age Origins, so Monty is more of a side-character that has the Magi Origin. The Dalish Origin is still my main canon.
