#mage origin

This is directly after Jowan’s escape and the Kocari Wilds respectively. Intended to show the damage and grossness to the clothes. For the mage robes it’s intended to show that Stellan also secretly used blood magic to assist Jowan. The right is just to show how gross the kocari wilds are and fighting darkspawn.

Also! Didn’t say it earlier but I had fun designing the mage “cloth helm”! They’re so ugly in game, but to me it’s clear they’re intended to be a form of headscarf. I did ignore the canon color schemes that exist in the game, cause uh, ugly. And soon when I do the warden armor look he will lose it in favor of a hood, but! It’s also good to note how it does cover his elven ears, cause fantasy racism.

Now these are the undergarments, for the mage robes he just has a simple linen shirt, but once he leaves he gets actual underwear and chausses. Mostly for warmth, but also will act as socks for his boots.

Now this is the outer layers. This acts as a cover for the undergarments to keep them clean, for the apprentice robes they’re intended to be very expensive looking with the detailed embroidery on the sleeves. It also is intended to be very flowy, thus (hopefully) communicating its delicate. Something that if you were to try and escape the Circle, you’re instantly recognizable unless you strip to your underwear (which would still be very noticeable). For the other robes, the layers are intended to be simpler and a color that’s much easier to get dyes of. The coat is also intended to (hopefully) look much warmer.

The sash! Just gonna be real that translating what appears in game to this stuff is painful and confusing. But there is intended to be a dark “apron” sort of cloth for the apprentice robes to act as a rag you can wipe your hands on if need be. Once again the sash is designed to be very expensive looking, vs the simpler look of the sash on the right. There is also further cozy layers on the right, cause, Ferelden is cold. The apprentice slippers are also intended to be very thin, something that would fall apart with great ease if you were to escape. Vs the boots Duncan gave him which are intended to be solidly made and comfortable. I intend to try and reuse the vestments robes as much as I can in further outfits, cause despite how messy it ends up after the kocari wilds, Alistair is going to stop Stellan from just tossing it. Cloth and linens are very expensive, and having a good coat is invaluable.

Anyways bringing back the finale to show the short cloaks and arm sashes on the right. Once again, note the fancy embroidery on the apprentice robes vs the vestments.

Do want to say real quick that the belts are cloth, not leather. Sort of a hoop that you hook onto the belt clasp, likely has something to tighten and loosen the cloth.
