⚡Fixing my Universal AC Adapter/Charger with another Electrolytic Capacitor Vol. 2 (w/ my Paper Dolls) -  Part 1 [Nov. 4, 2020]⚡

Hi! Today I’m doing a “2nd volume” topic about fixing my Universal AC Adapter/Charger with a new electrolytic capacitor.⚡🙂

Now as you remember from my previous topic [CLICK ME!] well albeit in a short one, I have another capacitor that has a severe damage as the previous one; though this time it’s the large electrolytic capacitor, with a different ultra filtration (uf) and volt (V) of 47uf and 400V. Meaning I can’t used the Lenovo (G470) laptop right because of the Universal AC Adapter/Charger’s issues.💻😟

So I decided to order at Shopee and Lazada (Philippines) for a fresh new electrolytic capacitor (with specific volt and ultra filtration specs),etc... As well as bringing up my soldering tools. And yes this will be my 2nd time doing a solo work on soldering 🙃... But will I failed once again just like I did to my USB Mini Hub? Will find out right now.

So without further a do, let’s get started:

1st & 2nd Image(s): • Now before I repair or replace with a new electrolytic capacitor, I want to show ya the specify my problem with this universal ac adapter/charger once more. You see, after I shut down the laptop 7 hours ago, I head back again to go computer stuff by plugging the adapter through the laptop and turning on... But then I noticed that adapter didn’t lit on the volt adjuster,  in which you see these images right now.🙁

•Therefore I can’t used the laptop once again. And my paper dolls say that it could be another faulty capacitor? Hmmm, maybe I’ll go check...🤔

3rd & 4th Image(s): • Ah they’re right! It turns out that the it is a electrolytic capacitor had already leaked on the positive charge side, unlike the negative one. Yup, my paper dolls saw that too though.😯

5th & 6th Image(s): • So now it’s time to fix the universal ac adapter/charger with my usual soldering tools, with one new additional tool that I really needed. 🧰🔧🪛🙂 My paper dolls asking “what is that gray pen-like thing?”. 

7th & 8th Image(s): • Well it’s not a pen-like thing, this is called the “desoldering pump” or “solder sucker”. Yup, this is tool that I needed in my soldering tool collection. 🙂 The purpose of this solder sucker is to remove the soldering lead from the printed circuitry board and taking off the damaged the electrolytic capacitor, although it needs to heat the solder before using the solder sucker; and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do... By replacing the old one to the new electrolytic capacitor that I ordered from Shopee. The desoldering pump from Lotus brand (not to be confused with the British car company) model no. LDPP12 however, I ordered that from Lazada - so I’ll give the price and links in the 2nd part.

⚡ My brand new Electrolytic Capacitors⚡

Hi, you may wondering what item are you posting? Well I’m glad you ask.🙂

1st Image: • On the right side, you see are two pieces of ⚡ Electrolytic Capacitors ⚡. I’m actually gonna fix my universal AC adapter/charger for the old Lenovo laptop 💻 that I’m using a very long time. While on the left was the old Electrolytic Capacitor which it removed from the inside after a small explosion and thank goodness it did not damage the entire circuit board.😌

2nd Image: • The next right here, you see I’m working on replacing the old Electrolytic Capacitor to a new one with a little help with my dad and soldering myself (from my learning skills in my college school days). Though my new one is very small and unmatched compare to the old larger one, but at least I chose the right one.🙂

3rd & 4th Image(s): • Here are some comparisons between old Electrolytic Capacitor and the new one. It seems the old one seems busted and it removed from the metal cap, which you see the burning marks as a result.🙂

Overall: •So is it work with the new one? So far when I turned on the old Lenovo laptop 💻, yes!😁 And my mom said that I was so proud of fixing / replacing an electric part ‘for the first time in my experience’, but  you know this is just only the beginning 😉. And you may wondering that I’m using my little bro’s gaming desktop this whole time, while I’m waiting my parcel. Hope the new Electrolytic Capacitors I ordered will last long, but for now my work here is done!😊 • I order these two new Electrolytic Capacitors [CLICK ME!] for only ‎₱10 per. each, plus shipping fee for ‎₱45 with a total of ‎₱65.🙂
