A team of rock climbers led by Warren Harding completed the first ascent of The Nose on El Capitan in Yosemite Valley on November 12, 1958.

A fond look back on a wicked sweet day in Yosemite (way back in 2016 I think), hiking along the base of El Capitan down in the valley.
We had become aware of some faint yelling; far off voices that seemed to be carrying in on the breeze. Eventually we became aware that the voices were coming from the face of El Cap. After a little looking, we were able to use some binoculars to see a half dozen rock hounds about half the way up El Capitans face.
It was kinda mind blowing and pretty cool, all at the same time.

I just started reading Alex Honnoldβs autobiography Alone on the Wall. For those who donβt know, he is the first, and only, person to free solo (climb without rope or aid) El Capitan in Yosemite. Itβs really refreshing to see that even people who accomplish superhuman tasks struggle with the other human aspects of life. Alex does an amazing job of speaking to this, and he is incredibly humble. What an amazing role model and wonderful person
