Why the “If This Then That” app is fun and effective for PR Professionals
This app has so many “recipes” as they call them to keep you nice and organized, as well as creative. The story behind the app is it lets you combine and manage many applications and platforms from a user-friendly layout. So, say you post to Instagram and then set up the program to save the photo or video to a specified folder in my drop box account. It’s as simple as that and there are many different apps and applications that you can use! The app can be as basic as turning your Wi-Fi on when your GPS states that your coordinates are in the range of your Wi-Fi or be as complicated as managing your PR campaign by scheduling, monitoring and posting to many different platforms.
How can this help a Public Relations Professional?
The capabilities of this app are endless; they show the latest trending recipes and the all-time effective ones that have made life easier and more efficient for a PR professional. So, what are some of the recipes that could be beneficial to someone in public relations? Say I am creating a themed Instagram page for the company I am working for to help build followers and promote brand awareness. This app allows me to create a chain of apps together to effectively and efficiently promote my brand as shown in the picture above.
How the App could improve?
I didn’t have any issues with the download of the app of the user-friendly ability to navigate throughout the platform. When I read the reviews about the app there seemed to be some issues with the connectivity of the apps with minimal communication as to why it doesn’t work. It seems to be a bit of a trial and error concept to where you try to make to apps talk to each other and you don’t get a response. This can make things annoying if you are counting on something to work and well it doesn’t and you only find out through trial and error.
Although there doesn’t seem to be an app that can do all things that are expected of a PR professional, this app does make life easier and more efficient. If I could have everything I would combine this app with apps like Grammarly, Upitch, PRSA Ethics App and more advanced analytics and scheduling capabilities. With PR such an evolving position in the workforce I think it will be hard to create an app that covers all needs, but if we can continue to create apps that maximize our time and productivity I will be happy.
