okay so after searching theres no real beginning. i will say that around the time i was starting imsm i was followed home twice and someone tried to kidnap me at my old job, so i was probably thinking abt that? tbh i really like the ‘luring luca into friendships and then hes fucked over’ trope and they always start from my traumas LOLLL but we ball nevertheless.

i wanted to make marco kind of a freak ngl, i dont know the right “pathic” word bc my vocabulary is buns. i know i wanted to make him super nonchalant, always hiding himself behind a non-reactive shell since you can see this a lot in the book. i also wanted him to be sort of stalkerish, and i def wanted to hint in the beginning that he isnt a really great guy. my first introduction of marco being a freak was when giulia said “how did you get our address?” and i am praying someone picked up on this.

i feel like we dont see a lot of evil OCs in the luca fandom that are genuinely horrible people. not to be blunt or offensive but franco from ghostlybluemuffins’ “the machiavellian” and soon to be “the charlatan” is merely an autistic fellow who doesnt really understand that hes pushing boundaries or being a dick. other OCs are just trying to be love interests to either luca/alberto, so theyre seen as the enemy. also, ercole is a worn out trope and hes also my husband so i dont want to kill him. i wanted marco to be an actual threat that got under luca’s skin.

i also knew that i wanted the story to take place in genova, since we don’t get many stories that are based in genova, rather they’re in portorosso. I wanted a book that branched past “luca and giulia have a friend group in genova and luca lives in giulias house”. i wanted an inside view on luca’s life outside of alberto.
