An edited picture I did to commemorate the great and talented Daniel Johnston.

Iβm a weird person with a bizarre mind who tries to find the weirdest ways to express my feelings, thoughts, worries, and lines of inner turmoil. I often piece my words through writing, drawing, and playing my guitar until I find something catchy to later forget about, but what I find the most engaging and relieving of my stress is creating a concept-like playlist of songs I adore.
βββ
One of my favorite playlists Iβve created is Aria Loves You, the title which takes inspiration from the word aria, symbolizing my loneliness at the time, and the βLove youβ part is from The Beach Boys most underrated album that got me through a harsh month βLove You.β
The Aria Loves You playlist is the result of nasty breakups, complicated feelings of guilt and shame, and what having a broken compass could do to a seventeen-year-old living down a basement in NEW JERSEY.
As I added the songs that fit my emotions, I was lost for what should the finale be but what appeared as the first song to be recommended for the playlist was True Love Will Find You at the End by Daniel Johnston.
I found the song to be⦠heartwrenching but⦠hopeful.
After many months of swimming through that song, I saw that Billy Cobbβs stories on Instagram ranked the 100 best albums ever, and around the 50th spot was the album that the song was in 1990. I decided to hear the album and it was heartbreakingly beautiful. Devil Town froze me to the core and it still does.
I then decided to hear his most popular album Hi, How Are You and it was incredible, it was something I've never heard before, especially the song Poor You.
No instruments, and no background vocals but just singing⦠and the lyrics fucking destroy me.

His work has been helping me swim through the harsh waves of this summer.
Thank you, Daniel Johnston, and Rest In Peace.
