Healthy foods and drinks that help energize you
Obviously sometimes life can be a bit overwhelming and we end up going down in a downwards spiral leading to being tired, sudden mood swings and generally being tired so here is a list of some healthy food to help energize you. (Also ik I’m not posting much art but I promise a have a surprise relating that!)
Some foods and drinks to have when you feel tired
-: Bananas: Bananas are pretty underrated when it comes to energizing you. It’s also really easy to carry around (I’m not really sure how to avoid the banana bruising so if someone could add that, it would be great!).
-: Orange juice: The best type is freshly squeezed orange juice with no sugar...it’s better to get your own oranges and make the orange juice (it is sour but it really energizes you).
-: Other types of juices: Here are some recipes of juices that can help energize you! https://justjuice.org/rejuvenating-juice-recipes/
-: Berries: According to many studies, berries help improve motor performance as well as improving you memory. They can be any types of berries!
-: Water: 8 glasses of water really does make a difference. You won’t feel the difference at first but it will kick in, within a few days. (It gets your cells working in the best conditions meaning your body will work more effectively which will lead to your hormones releasing normally so you get less mood swings, and generally a more elevated mood). You could also make lemon juice and have one glass every morning.
-: Dark chocolate: It has caffeine so can help boost concentration and elevate your mood (Plus it’s healthy to have at small amounts, about one square/bar).
-: Fish: Fish actually has a lot of protein and other nutrients that help energize you and also help you grow more (and helps heal wounds faster).
-: Nuts: Personally I preferred salted nuts for that extra sodium but any types of nuts can help energize you (plus they make a good snack). Examples are walnuts, almonds, cashews etc.
Some foods and drinks to avoid when you feel tired
-: Coffee: Coffee is a really good boost up but it tends to make you feel much more tired later on so try avoid it unless it is necessary.
-: Processed food: They taste great and also provide you with energy but for a very short (mostly you feel even more tired after the energy has worn off) until it wears off again. Examples are prepacked food, canned food, fried food, takeout meals etc.
-: Refined carbs: Food that are high in sugar and have white flour don’t have that many nutritional values so it’ll really just sap your energy. Examples are cakes, cookies, white bread, white rice etc.
-: Generally anything with lots of sugar: While sugar can be a good way to energize yourself short term, it can lead your body to crash making you feel even more tired and also increases your blood glucose which could lead to some heart problems such as high blood pressure (of course this is the long term effect!).
