Roy rushed in as soon as he got the call. Clothes rustled and hair in a mess, he ran to Jason's bed. "Jaybird!" he called, when he received no reply, his heart fell...It was true, Jason had slipped into a coma.
His hands clenched into a fist, "Who did this to you?" he asked, seething with anger...His rage, not directed at the cause, but rather himself. "This was all my fault...I thought you could have taken care of it..." he shook with anger.
"I'm so sorry, Jay...I should have been there to watch your back..." he said, taking one of Jason's hand into his own. He dropped to his knees and placed Jason's hand against his forehead, "I swear....I swear I'll find who did this...I'll hurt them the same way they hurt you..." he said.
"Please wake up soon, Jay...Please, I need you," he murmured, "I need you...I love you..."
Jason's heart sped up at the sound of Roy's voice. He had come. He was there, so close, but Jason couldn't see him, couldn't touch him, couldn't talk to him. A searing rage swelled up in. He'd never felt more useless, more inadequate. He couldn't even comfort his own lover! It quickly turned to sadness as he focused more on Roy's words.
"It's not your fault. I was stupid. Another stupid mistake," he thought, wishing more than anything that Roy could hear him. "I know I don't say it nearly often enough, but I need you too. I love you."
