These are the founders of the Syndicate: a group of anarchist villains dedicated to undoing the government and the laws that repress parahumans. While their goals should align with the bench trio’s, the Syndicate’s lack of regard for collateral damage and civilian lives usually leads to the two groups clashing. I just realized something. Has Philza ever been given the chance to grieve for Wilbur, like really truly healthily grieve? Like, work through it like you’re supposed to?
He has no real support system, and no friends aside from Techno. To everyone else he’s an old man or father figure of some sort. He’s the one they go to. That’s all he is to them. And Techno, Techno is the only one who really treats Phil on the same level to any degree. The thing with Techno, and you can’t deny it, is he’s shit with emotional stuff 90% of the time.
The moment after he was forced to kill Wilbur, he was thrust into a world where there was a million things to do and so much turmoil. The chaos of everything that happened after Wilbur blew everything up forced Phil’s issues to be glossed over.
Even then, who would actually be able to help him? He’s always been in the helping position. He’s Dadza. He is emotionally on his own because of this. Techno doesn’t know how to handle that sort of thing, so he just... doesn’t.
Along with all that, when has he had the chance to just... not do anything? He has some of that now out in the Arctic, but like, he was part of rebuilding New L’Manburg, got entangled with all the house arrest stuff and Techno’s attempted execution, and then the general chaos of Doomsday. He hasn’t given himself a moment to grieve either.
I just feel like that’s a facet we’re overlooking when talking about Phil and his character motivations. It’s more than just the “I was forced to kill my own son” thing in my eyes. Maybe it’s something we should be looking closer at.

No bcuz c!Phil makes me so mad- as a father, he failed, but as a grandfather, he prioritizes his friend over his grandson who's now an orphan (which he kinda caused), help blow up Fundy's home, which was also the place Fundy was born and grew up in, and hold a grudge against Fundy, AND NO ONE ELSE WHO WAS THERE, for trying to execute Techno. He wants nothing to do with Fundy, even when Fundy is trying his hardest to spend time with Phil.
DIACLAIMER: I do not hate Phil, I love him as a cc, I just don't like his character. Just like with Dream, I love him as a cc but as a character I don't like him. This is all rp.
