Hey, so I had this crazy idea about drunk bucky being a menace in love and is all over the reader and spilling embarrassing bedroom secrets in front of everyone đ and is so delusional, he believes that she is drunk not him and tries to take care of her but fails miserably and everyone is just enjoying his antics and cheering him on
You know what, you should totally add your own crazy thoughts about drunk bucky if you decide to write this đ
ahhahahahhah, I cackled the whole time writing thisđ
----------
Bucky Barnes was drunk.
Which wouldnât have been a problem, except that he was aggressively drunk. Loudly drunk. Passionately, whole-heartedly, menace-level drunk.
And completely convinced that you were the one whoâd had too much.
âSomeone get her a blanket,â he announced to the room, throwing his vibranium arm out wide, nearly knocking over a lamp. âShe gets cold when she drinks. You knowâher knees? They do the little shiver.â
You blinked. âIâve had one cider, Buck.â
âYouâre slurring,â he said, squinting suspiciously.
âIâm not.â
âYou are. And your face is doing that⌠face thing.â He nodded decisively. âClassic signs of a tipsy kitten.â
From his perch on the edge of the couch, Sam sipped his beer and grinned. âTipsy kitten?â
You were pretty sure you were the only sober one in the room. And yet Bucky, who had done four celebratory tequila shots with Thor ten minutes ago, was now babying you like you were one hiccup away from collapse.
You tried again. âIâm really not drunk.â
âThatâs exactly what a drunk person would say.â
Natasha snorted. âSheâs literally the one who drove you here.â
âAnd I thank her for her service,â Bucky said solemnly, wobbling slightly on his feet. âBut Iâve got it from here. Iâll take care of her. Always do.â
âAlways?â you muttered, and Bucky turned to beam at you.
âShe cries after sex, yâknow,â he said proudly.
Your soul left your body.
âOh my god, James,â you hissed.
âNot because sheâs sad,â he continued, unfazed, addressing the room like a man delivering a TED talk. âBecause itâs so good. Her words. Not mine. Though I agree. I think itâs that one move I doââ
âBUCKY!â
Everyone erupted. Sam literally dropped his drink from laughing. Tony looked like he was about to take notes. Wanda covered her mouth. Steve whispered a soft âJesus Christâ and turned toward the wall like it might save him.
Meanwhile, Bucky looked so pleased with himself.
âIâm just sayinâ,â he shrugged. âShe gets all emotional. Itâs beautiful.â
You buried your face in your hands. âIâm going to die here. This is my death.â
âNO!â Bucky shouted, stumbling over to you. âNo dying. Youâve had too much. Youâre acting unstable.â
âI am sober, you absolute menace.â
He leaned in conspiratorially, whispering directly into your ear, âDonât worry. Iâll hold your hair if you need to throw up.â
âI will end you.â
âLater, doll,â he grinned. âYou always say that in bed, too.â
A sound left your mouth that may have been a wheeze.
Clint stood up, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes. âBarnes, sit down before you reveal the coordinates of your sex tape.â
âWe donât have a tape,â Bucky said, then immediately followed it with, âBecause we deleted it.â
Tony clapped once. âThatâs enough entertainment for the evening, folks.â
But Bucky wasnât done.
Oh no.
Because now he had moved into the delusional caretaker phase.
âYou need water,â he said, cradling your face in his hands like you were seconds from passing out. âWhereâs your water? You gotta hydrate. Itâs important. Youâre so small. You dehydrate faster than other people.â
âIâve been hydrating,â you said flatly. âMeanwhile, you drank what was basically liquid gasoline.â
âBecause Iâm a super soldier,â he whispered, poking your nose. âYouâre just a civilian angel.â
You looked around the room helplessly. âCan someone tase him?â
âNo way,â Sam said through his laughter. âIâm letting this play out.â
âIâm gonna make you toast,â Bucky declared, staggering toward the kitchen. âThatâll soak up the booze. Where do we keep toast?â
âTHE BREADBOX,â you and Steve shouted in unison.
Bucky paused, then snapped his fingers. âRight. Secret bread drawer.â
You flopped back against the couch as he banged around the kitchen, opening cabinets with the urgency of someone defusing a bomb. âWhy is he like this?â
Nat shrugged. âHonestly? This is the happiest Iâve ever seen him.â
You glanced into the kitchen where Bucky was holding two slices of bread up like they were treasure. âHe looks like heâs about to kiss the bread.â
âI might,â he shouted. âBecause itâs for her.â
You groaned into a throw pillow.
By the time you finally got him wrangled into a coat and ready to leave, heâd managed to trip over a chair, try to bridal carry you and almost drop both of you, and glare at Sam while yelling, âDONâT CORRUPT HER WITH YOUR FILTHY JOKES. SHEâS A LADY.â
âShe has more dirty jokes than I do!â Sam replied.
âDOESNâT MATTER. SHEâS MY LADY.â
âBucky, get in the car.â
âDonât raise your voice, sheâs had a rough night,â he whispered, swaying dangerously.
You rubbed your temples. âI literally havenât.â
When you finally got him into the passenger seat and clicked his seatbelt, Bucky turned to you with glassy, adoring eyes and whispered, âI love you so much, itâs stupid.â
Your heart softened.
âI know,â you said gently, brushing his hair back from his face. âYouâll remember all of this tomorrow and die of shame.â
âI hope so,â he said, already dozing off. âBecause this was the best night of my life.â

Give me drunk Bucky who wakes up in your bed, confused over why he's in the softest pj's he's ever felt and for some reason wearing a giant fur coat he can only assume is from a pimp because who else would own such a thing.
What the hell happened
Mere hours earlier; 3:30 am, Guys night
"Noooooo" Bucky howled, letting his body go deadweight while Thor continued to carry him to his room, the only one strong enough to get the soldier off the floor after he'd polished the bottle of Asdargian mead clean. "Wanna see y/n"
"Yeah, can't imagine what y/n would say if she saw you being carried off like a princess" A very tipsy Sam and Steve followed behind while Bucky's bottom lip jutted out into an exaggerated pout, head thrown back with is eyes closed in defiance "She's still off on that mission, she'll be back soon, you can see her then-
Before Steve could finish, Bucky's eyes shot open, scrambling out of Thor's arms and stumbling towards your room. There was no time to stop him from entering, a drunk giggle slipping past his lips as he let himself in and sighed contently. By the time the three men reached, Bucky's shirt had already been discarded beside his socks.
"Oh no- Steve snorted at the sound of Bucky's belt bucky hitting the floor, his lip sticking out in concentration as he tried to work at the button of his jeans.
"Barnes, I swear if you take your pants off-Damn it" Sam huffed, a pair of black jeans landing on his head. "At least keep your boxers-Oh hell nah" He ducked before Bucky's intimates became aquainted with his face. "Don't you dare helicopter that third leg-he's doing it"
No one intervened as Bucky decided to make himself more comfortable, clearly missing you as he sighed, walking over to your closet. He was in there suspiciously long before emerging with-
"Buck, those are-
"Soft" Bucky hummed, coming out of your closet with a set of pj's you wore often, oversized so they'd be extra comfy. Bucky giggled at the smell of your soft scent, slipping the shirt over his head and putting the pants on, flopping on your bed like a cat. "Smells like y/n"
"Do we just leave him here"
"At least he's wearing pants" Steve sighed, frowning when he heard running footsteps approaching along with a chaotic cackling, who else would be still this active at this hour-
"There you guys are!! We're doing body shots off of- wait you're here. C'mon capsicle, take your shirt off-
"For fucks' sake Tony"
"Where the hell did you get that jacket" Sam's face scrunched when he notice Tony's shirt was missing however he was in a large coat which he'd thrown off, the pile of for landing on a half sleepy Bucky. Bucky's eye peeked open at all the fuss, wrapping himself up in the coat and blissfully falling asleep with his face in your pillow, the rest of the chaos mere white noise.
"SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS-"
"TONY NO"
"TONY YES"
Present
"What do we have here" you coo, giggling at a very disoriented Bucky who blinks up at you with puppy eyes, a pink blush spreading on his face. You'd just returned from your mission with Nat, the entire compound still reeking of alcohol, the hallway littered with various still drunk Avenger men. The only thing that cut through the smell was the fresh breakfast a happy Thor had already started, the only one standing as if nothing had happened.
You'd stepped over a sleeping Sam and Steve in the hallway to get to your room, cocking a brow at the large mound of fur and soft snoring sleeping in your bed.
"Good morning, sweet boy" You brushed back Bucky's hair, bending down to press a soft kiss to his forehead, letting him take his time to figure out his surroundings, "have a fun night"
"Missed you" he mumbled, pulling you to lay on the bed so he could cuddle up with you, his head now resting on your chest instead. "Missed you so much"
"I missed you too, bub" You continued to gently play with his hair, happy your boyfriend got to have a night of fun and thankful that you always kept painkillers in your bedside drawer. Poor baby was going to need it. You noticed the pile of clothes that were thrown on the floor, they were definitely Bucky's but Bucky was in clothes so what was he wearing-
Summary : You swore you couldn't love your super soldier anymore than you already do. Then he gets drunk and makes you fall for him all over again.

You swear you'd never leave your boyfriend unsupervised with Thor ever again.
You'd just slipped out with Wanda for some fresh air for a couple of minutes. And by the time you were back in the room, the world had erupted into chaos.
You can't believe the scene unfolding in front of you right now. Wanda is already laughing, wondering out loud âwhat the hell happened here?â
Thor. He happened.
Apparently he thought it was a good idea to âcelebrate the celestial friendships in a grand mannerâ by bringing asgardian mead to a team bonding party.
Steve, ever the cautious one, backed out immediately. Even Tony passed by murmuring something about the quality of other worldly drinks being questionable.
But your boyfriend wasn't one of them. He was the adventurous kind. The kind who wouldn't back off from the challenge Sam threw his way âYour old ass probably can't even hold the good stuffâ
And bucky, ever the enthusiast downed the whole glass like it was apple juice, just to prove that he can, in fact, hold his liquor very well.
He feels it immediately. The world looks faded and flowery and his words are slurring. Sam looks funny. He always looks funny. And steveâhe's his best friend, bucky likes him. But where are you. He wants youâŚ..
The guys soon realize how much trouble they'll be in just as they discern that bucky is not just tipsy, he's drunk and delusional.
âShe's going to kill usâ Steve eyes Sam. He shrugs âWhatever man, don't tell her about the asgardian drink and we'll be fineâ
You walked in right on cue, giggling with Wanda.
The guys are gathered around the bar, clearly guilty and trying to look normal as you approach.
Bucky is swaying between the kitchen counter and the chair while steve is trying and failing to make him stand upright.
âWhat did you do to him?â
âHe just had a few shotsâ He announced like it was the most normal thing ever.
âYeah! The asgardian stuff. It's really potentâ Sam snickers from behind, already tipsy. Steve elbows him with an expression that says you were supposed to keep it to yourself.
âWhat??â
âThis man shows signs of true courage and valorâ Thor announces out of nowhere, clapping bucky's back encouragingly. It almost knocks him out of balance and you lunge to steady him.
Catching him just in time before he fell face first on the kitchen counter.
âWhat valor?â You glare at Thor, then at bucky, then back at Thor before jabbing an accusing finger in his face âYouâYou fix this!â You point towards bucky who's having an intense staring competition with a Capri-sun.
He smiles when he catches a glimpse of your face and tugs you closer to him like he's about to say something conspiratorial.
âBabeâ he begins, and you brace yourself, âYou ever realize orange juice is just... fruit blood?â
âWhat?â Your face contorts in confusion.
âYeah. Weâre vampires for citrus.â
You groan, fingertips massaging your temples âBuck, you need water and therapy.â
âNoâ he perks up, eyes glinting âI need shots. Where's shots?â He starts walking more like waddling towards the bar where Tony is helping himself to a glass of whiskey.
He grabs a beer bottle as you gently nudge him and he gets redirected towards the couch while you get a glass of water for him.
You knew he was beyond redemption the moment he called the lamp âbroâ. But this is a new level. Bucky is swaying on the couch, cheeks flushed, hair a mess, proudly clutching a half-empty beer bottle like itâs an award.
You kneel in front of him with a glass of water. âDrink.â
He squints at it. âThatâs not beer.â
âThatâs water.â
âI donât trust water,â he whispers. âItâs⌠sneaky.â
You exhale through your teeth. This is going to be a long night.
Your friends have formed an audience around him, snickering like gremlins. Sam is already holding up his phone. âThis is the best night of my life.â
You shoot him a death glare. âPut that down.â Bucky pats your knee. âNo, no, let him record. The world needs to knowâŚâ
âBuckââ you warn.
He grins at the room. âGuys⌠GUYS. I need to tell you something super important about my girlfriend.â
You lunge to grab his arm. He wiggles away like a toddler on sugar.
âSheâs ââ
âBucky. SIT.â
He immediately sits straighter and salutes you. âYes, maâam.â
Steve doubles over with laughter.
You shove the glass into his hands. âPlease drink before you die.â
He pats your arm, nodding âIâll drink water.â
âYes! Goodââ
âFrom your mouth.â You choke. âWHAT?!â
âLittle kiss?â he clarifies with an exaggerated fish face pout âHydration kisses.â Your entire face is red but when you glare at him, he takes a dramatic sip, reluctantly, grimacing like itâs poison. âTaste like⌠hydration.â
âYes. Correct. Good boy.â
He beams. âThat's what you say in bed, dollâ His smile is all teeth as he wiggles his eyebrows. âRemember that one time youââ you slam your palm to his mouth stopping him from spilling out insider information that he'll regret the next day.
But he pulls your hand away with a gentle pat. âItâs okay, sweetheart. I wanna tell them this one.â
You brace yourself.
âShe calls me a âsleepy burritoâ when I roll myself in the blanket.â
Dead silence.
Then the room explodes into laughter.
âThatâs not even the bad one,â he adds helpfully. You nearly pass out. âBucky, please.â
But heâs unstoppable now.
âShe kisses my forehead,â he confesses loudly, âevery morning. Like a ritual blessing. I am BLESSED. A holy burrito.â
Okay. You can live with that, at least he didn't say anything aboutâ
âANDâANDââ
Here we go.
âDid you know,â he says, swaying, âthat she thinks my butt is adorable?â
âNo she does not!â you panic shout. He's unbothered.
âAnd she likes to bitâââNO!â you screech, covering his mouth again.
He keeps mumbling incoherently. Lips brushing against your palm. Until you feel something wet sliding along your fingers.
âEwww. You licked me!â You jerk back in horror before wiping your saliva slicked hand at his shirt but he catches your wrist, holding it to his heart.
He's smiling at you like you're made of stars and everything that's holy. Then, he suddenly hugs you and says, âIf we were penguins, Iâd share my fish with you.â
Your heart melts a little. This big bad super soldier, who's seen all the possible horrors of the world has now turned into an absolute drunk mush, who's so desperately in love with you that youâre on his mind even if he's drunk-dreaming.
You hug him back. âI'd share my fish with you too, sweetheartâ
He beams happily, before marching towards the coffee table and standing on it like itâs a stage. He stumbles and you hold back laughter.
âThis womanââ he points at you ââis the love of my life. She smells like⌠like happiness and laundry detergent.â
You're gasping between laughs, âSit down before you break your ankle!â
âNo. Let me finish. She deserves a medal for dating this level of handsome.â He points at himself
You're wheezing by now, but you manage to pull him down somehow.
He sits back down, huffing in annoyance. Somewhere behind you, Tony is mumbling about having to watch drunk penguin proposals.
But you could care less as bucky pulls you down beside him. You settle on the couch and he immediately accepts you as his pillow.
His one hand is wrapped around your torso, other cradling your cheek while his head rests on your shoulder. He sighsârelaxed and joyous, like you're the most comfortable place to sleep on.
Right when you think, he's out for the night, he perks up again, âYOU GUYS DONâT UNDERSTAND HOW SOFT HER SHOULDERS ARE.â
You grab the nearest cushion to hit him with.
âBUCK. LIE. DOWN.â
He ignores you and points at your friends with grand drunken authority. âShe moisturizes. Like a⌠like a dolphin. A sexy dolphin.â
You cover your face. âPlease somebody sedate him.â The team is shrieking.
He flops sideways dramatically but STILL keeps talking. âAndâANDâher hair?â He clutches his chest. âSmells like heaven. And fruit. Fruity heaven.â You hiss at him, âGo. To. Sleep.â
He lies back down on your lap, obediently.
Eyes closed.
Peaceful.
Three whole seconds pass.
His eyes still closed, until he suddenly says, loud and clear, âYou have the cutest knees.â
You freeze. ââŚWhat?â He rolls onto his back like a malfunctioning robot. âCute. Knees. Everyoneâs ignoring this. But I see the truth.â
âThat's itâ you announce standing up and hauling him on his feet before practically dragging him towards the bedroom.
All while he's yelling âNot tonight doll, you're drunk!â
âI'm not drunk you absolute menace, you are!â You can still hear the team's laughter when you round the corner.
He's on you as soon as you enter the room. You've barely even closed the door before he pushes you onto the bed, flopping over you like you're a body pillow.
He kisses your cheek, half asleep. âAlso your elbows? Hot.â
âSTOP TALKING.â
âLike⌠aggressively hot. Spicy elbows.â
You're wheezing. âBaby, please, Iâm begging you⌠shut your mouth.â
But he is unstoppable. He's in the confession mode right now.
âI also ate your secret chocolate stash last month.â
Your head snaps toward him. âYOU WHAT?â
âThen I blamed your period brain.â
Your jaw drops. âJAMES BUCHANAN BARNESâ
âActually,â he mumbles, nuzzling his face into your chest âI ate it while thinking about your tits.â
You shove him lightly âGET OUT OF MY HOUSE.â
He giggles. Giggles. âYou canât get rid of me, I love you too much,â he singsongs.
You bury your face in your hands. âThis is the worst night of my life.â
He reaches out blindly, his hand landing on your thigh. âAlso, did you know your thighs make my brain go BRRRRRRââ
âDONâT MAKE SOUND EFFECTS.â
He tries to sit up but immediately flops sideways again. âYou are myââ he squints with drunken effort, ââmy beautiful emotional support mammal.â
You stare at him like he just insulted your entire ancestry. âOkay. Weâre done. You are DONE.â
You grab a blanket, throw it over him, and declare, âGO. TO. SLEEP.â He snuggles into it immediately. Then thinks better of it and pulls you in instead. âOkay. But if I dream about your knees again, donât get mad.â
â-
Bucky wakes up looking like a man who fought God and lost. He groans into the pillow. âWhy does my tongue feel like carpet?â
You stand at the foot of the bed, arms crossed, expression cold enough to lower the room temperature. He slowly opens one eye.
ââŚHi?â. You donât reply.
He sits up cautiously. âBaby? âŚSweetheart?â
Silence. Dangerous silence.
He swallows. âWhy are you staring at me like I committed tax fraud?â
You take a slow breath. Then you unfold an entire sheet of paper. Front. And back.
His face drains of color. âWhat⌠is that?â
You tap the top of the page. âThis is the list of things you said last night.â
He reads the heading and immediately collapses backward. âOh God.â
"The list of shame"
âOH you remember nothing, huh?â
He covers his face. âPlease tell me I didnât say anything weird.â
âWould you like me to begin?â You smirk
âNo.â You read anyway.
Item 1:
âYou said â and I quote â âWater is sneaky and cannot be trusted.ââ
He groans. âOkay, fair, I stand by that.â
Item 4:
âYou told steve that I âbless you like a holy burrito.ââ
Bucky grabs a pillow and screams into it.
Item 7:
You toasted to âThe invention of socksâ and said âPickle Juice is holy therapy waterâ he just stares, expressionless.
Item 9:
âYou said my elbows are âaggressively hot.ââ
He covers his face again.
âWHY WOULD I SAY THAT OUT LOUDââ
Item 10:
âYou said my knees are âtiny confident circles.ââ
He violently flops onto the mattress.
You continue down the list while he dies a little more with every line.
Item 13:
âYou said you want to drink water âfrom my mouth.ââ
âI MEANT A KISS.â
âThe world knows what you meant. You said it loudly.â
Item 17:
âYou admitted you ate my secret chocolate stash and blamed my period.â
He curls into a fetal position.
âOkay⌠okay that oneâs actually unforgivable.â
Item 18:
âYou said my thighs make your brain go âBRRRRRRRR.ââ
You demonstrate the sound effect.
He covers his ears. âPLEASE NO.â
Item 20:
âYou called me your âemotional support mammal.ââ
He throws the pillow at himself. âSTOP.â
You lower the paper dramatically.Heâs silent for a long moment. Then, in a tiny voice, ââŚAre we still together?â
You roll your eyes. âYes, idiot.â
He sighs in relief and flops forward, hugging your waist. âThank God. I thought the elbow comments was the breakup point.â
You stroke his hair. âYouâre never drinking again.â He nods into your stomach. âAgreed. 100%. No more alcohol. Ever.â
You pat his head. âGood.â He looks up at you, embarrassed and hopeful.
ââŚCan we burn the list?â
You smile too sweetly. âNo.â of course not. You're keeping it for blackmailing prospects.
He groans before you add âthe team is waiting for you in the common room by the wayâ
He sits up, face painted with absolute horror âI want the earth to swallow me right nowâ
You smirk, evil âyou'll pray for worse when you see the videosâ
âTHERE'S VIDEOS??â

in which, bucky barnes is best friends with the popular , athletic, optimistic steve. he's used to being just the best friend people use to get closer to Steve. so obviously, when you show up with your pretty smile and bright eyes, he shuts down completely.
college au , party culture , nerdy buck , long haired buck , somewhat steve mentioned , drunk reader
unedited as always.
You first noticed him in class. James Buchanan Barnes. People knew him but not because of his beautiful crystal blue eyes, or his silky shoulder length hair that fit his face perfectly, but because of his best friend, Steve Rogers. Steve was your typical popular boy. He was handsome, athletic, kind and everyone wanted him.
You were friends with Steve only because of your roommate, Wanda. Yet you never saw Bucky around anyone besides Steve and Sam. He focused in class but never talked, he was just there. The only times you would ever hear or see him speaking to someone else was after class to the professor or a random asking about Steve. Just like now. You turn the corner on the way to class and see Bucky standing talking with a girl. You didn't mean to sit and watch but I mean.. they're kinda blocking the door.
"Hi Bucky! I know you're-" The girl is holding some sort of card in her hands before she gets cut off.
"Yeah, I'll give it to him." He replies before she could even finish, probably since he's done this about a million times already. You laugh to yourself a little.
"Really?! Thank you so much, you're the best! Hopefully see you guys there!" She smiles and hands him the card and walks off, most likely to her class. You take this as your chance to walk over.
"Quite the ladies man, Barnes?" You joke lightly as you watch his eyes scan the card. "its all Steve." His response is short and you're hesitant to keep the conversation going. "You don't mine all this? Don't you ever get tired?" You question him as he opens the door to the room for you. "It's the least I could do for him, see ya." He bids goodbye as he sits next to his bestest bud in the front of the lecture hall.
You give Steve a slight smile and wave then made your way up the room to sit in a seat next to one of your friends and try to prepare yourself for the class.
The blond smiles as Bucky sits next to him. "another girl." Was all he said sliding him the pink card with glitter around it, a couple stickers and a small kiss mark on the edge.
"Party invitation? Maybe you might actually find someone here." The blonde chuckles and pats Bucky on the back as he grunts.

You didn't mean to get this drunk. You're stumbling, your vision a blur, you couldn't balance and it was hot as fuck. You were trying to make your way outside before you bumped into something real hard. Hands were on your shoulders as you soothed your forehead, muttering small a small ow.
"You good?" A voice yells through all the loud voices and music. "Yeah, um just trying to find my way outside for some air." You yell back as you look up to see who you bumped into. The familiar crystal blue eyes stared back into yours. You weren't sure if it was the alcohol but you felt your chest burn.
"I'll help." His response was short and quick but he guided you through the crowd. His hand lingering on your lower back as he helped you balance to get outside.
You were sitting in the backyard porch. Your head was on top of your knees and your arms were sticking out. You would sway once in a while and occasionally gag, but he didn't leave. He sat next to you through the night. The loud yelling slightly muffled. Just you, Bucky, and a bottle of Smirnoff.
"I do get tired of it."
You hum confused, you don't understand what he's talking about at first but he continues. "I don't wanna be just a messenger boy but he's done so much for me. He was there when no one else was. If I can't do this for him then what could I?" He takes another swig straight from the bottle. He didn't expect a response but he let out a low chuckle when he turned and saw you.
He stared back straight into the night sky. Staring at the moon. "You were the first person to actually talk to me like I'm not just a messenger boy, you know?" He smiles and you look up from your knees to stare at him.
"Bullshit! You- you're so beautiful." Your words are slurred and you don't even know what you're doing. You can't stop yourself, you don't know how. You grip the side of his face and stare into his eyes. They're wide and full of shock. You smile.
"You're quiet. No one knows the real you. You're just there. But, God do I wanna know who you are. The real you. I wanna know your soul, every inch of your body, everything. Gosh you're perfect in my eyes, Buck." You start to mumble and he swears at some parts he didn't understand what you were saying.
"You're drunk." He excuses your behavior and takes another long shot from the bottle next to him. He gets up and walks away, no words, no goodbye, just leaves.
Your head drops back to your knees and you groan. Your head is killing you. After a few moment you try and make your way back inside. The house is filled with colognes, perfumes, alcohol, weed and all different flavors of nic all mixed together.
You feel a hand slither around your waist and kiss the side of your head. "First time I saw you this whole party! Where were you?" Tony laughs as he holds a shot glass towards you, which you slightly push back. "Outside trying to battle this massive headache." You groan. He pats your back and makes his way through the crowd. There you were alone once again.
You wander for a good couple minutes and find Pietro in the middle of all this mess. You let out a sigh of relief and make your way towards him. "Please tell me you're somewhat sober." You lean against the counter with a smile.
"As sober as someone could be?" He jokes, he was always at the dorm. It was shocking that he didn't even live there considering he never goes home. "Need a baby sitter huh, L/N?" he pours himself a cup of coke.

You sat in your class the next day. A big hoodie engulfing you, some sweats and a huge hangover. You were slumped over the table and every second felt like an eternity.
Worst part yet? Class hasn't even started. To make things worse your friend was sick so you were probably gonna have to sit alone.
After what felt like forever, you feel someone slide next to you. You don't turn. If you ignore them maybe they'll go away.
You figure it doesn't work when something cold touches the arm of your hoodie and a fake cough was let out. You lift your head from your arms and stare. "Buck?" You say shocked he's not sitting with the glazed donut.
"Looked pretty rough last night, figured you could use some water and company to fight your hangover." He jokes but doesn't laugh. He didn't even look at you. He was just taking out his notebook. You mutter a thanks and open the water.
"You don't.. remember anything?" He's doodling something on the side of his page. You wipe some water with your sleeve.
"No? Should I?.. Did I do something embarrassing?" You blush at the thought of embarrassing yourself and not remembering. "No." He says and takes a second. "Just wondering."

Since then you noticed Bucky slowly but surely started to become part of you're life. You didn't complain, didn't ask, just let it be. You enjoyed it. Whether it was the small coffee runs or a late study session at the library. You were officially part of their friend group.
You guys often hung out and it was never a dull moment. You could see the smile lines marking themselves onto your face as each day passes. This was probably the happiest you've been in a while.
They felt like family.
It was never anything more than smiles, jokes and occasionally platonic touches with Bucky.
So you were shocked when you sat on your couch dorm. Wanda and Natasha standing in front of you and asking questions. "So? What's up with Bucky?" Wanda asks sliding next to you. She was facing you, her knees curled in and her arm behind the couch. You were obviously confused.
"I don't know what you're talking about?.." You reply with a nervous laugh. You couldn't recall anything that would make them think like this.
"y/n. I love you, but he doesn't act like this with anyone." Natasha buts in and before you could defend yourself she continues. "Do you ever see him getting coffee with anyone else besides Steve? Or asking to hangout? What about how his hands linger a second too long on you?"
"Friends do that.." You mumble as you clutch a pillow and start to spiral. They sigh and change topics. Something about wanting to cook something.
Ever since that conversation you slowly started to notice the things they pointed out. He never hung out with anyone alone but you and Steve. Occasionally Sam.
He orders separately to pay for both of your coffees leaving everyone else to pay for their own.
His hand lingers on your lower back as he slightly moves you out of the way to get something from a drawer in the kitchen.
You feel his eyes burn onto you when you laugh at a joke.
You noticed how Steve and Natasha were the only ones who knew about how he lived in Siberia for a couple years. Yet he tells you everything about his past like you deserve to know.
This whole time you thought maybe everything was just one sided. But now? Now you might actually have a chance.
Summary: Bucky was having his familyâs annual birthday celebration because seeminly everyone was born in Feburary. you were invited which meant you had to meet the large family Bucky comes from, and with your luck it didnât go as smooth as you wanted it to.Â
Words: 5k
Warnings: panic attack, spitting, mention of stress hives, protective/clingy Bucky, mentions of poverty (if you squint really hard)Â
Spring reading week was definitely needed already, you sat in your tutorial while you managed to stay on top of the practice questions rather than doze off like the guy beside you. It was rapping up and people were already starting to pack up and some had already left.Â
The moment the lecture ended you raced out the door, not before saying goodbye to your TA and wishing him a nice week off because you - though you hate to admit it - like to suck up sometimes. Once you were walking with Bucky on campus and saw one of your profs, Bucky stood for five minutes as you pitched up your voice and asked about her kids. He never let you live it down that sometimes you were a teacherâs pet.Â
Natasha was standing at the bus stop with your duffle bag in hand, you had packed it last night and begged her to bring it to you so you could catch this bus rather than the next one that comes in an hour. She had a smirk on her face as you jogged up, taking the bag with a smile.Â
âI can bring your backpack back to the house, if you want?â Nat offered, her hand already outstretched to take it.Â
âNo,â you caught your breath, âthank you though,â you smiled and pulled her in for a hug, âhave a nice reading week, Iâll be back Thursday.âÂ
âI still canât believe youâre up there for six days,â she laughed, âthrowback to when you thought he hated you.âÂ
âShut up,â you rolled your eyes, âand yes, Iâm up there for a week, apparently thereâs some birthday thing because seemingly everyone is born in February.âÂ
The bus driver honked and you hugged Natasha goodbye, quickly tapping your card and found a spot. You were by yourself which was great, you needed to put your duffle bag somewhere. This would be a full day of travelling instead of the ride you could have got yesterday, Buckyâs parents have some cabin thatâs three hours away but this day would take double the time due to a bus and then train ride.Â
You had two important tutorials today that you couldnât miss, it also helped that Friday had a discount for student bussing, there was always a brightside. You shot a quick text to Bucky to let him know you were on transport number one and super happy to see him.Â
You had met Buckyâs parents before you two started dating because Bucky invited the entire group up to the cabin but forgot to let his parents know and they had the same idea. You then spent the weekend with ten people; half were in college and the other were retired.Â
It definitely was an important night for you.Â
âJames,â Ernie slapped Buckyâs shoulder, âI need you to understand that you donât meet those kinds of women everyday, that girl is perfect for you, you have to sweep her off her feet.âÂ
âSheâs dating someone, Ern,â Bucky whispered, rolling his eyes and leaning back in his camp chair, âthis weekend blows.âÂ
âNo it doesnât,â you looked over your shoulder and paused your manicure for Ernieâs wife, âI think Melissa would disagree, would you not?â Melissa nodded and held out her nails, âsee?â you looked at Bucky and smiled, but you could see something was actually wrong.Â
âIâm going to bed,â it was rare for Bucky to leave the party first, he normally started it. He threw open the patio door and you watched as you stomped upstairs.Â
Ernie looked at you, âare you seeing anyone?âÂ
âItâs complicated,â you sighed and put down Melissaâs hand to grab the other, âheâsâŚâ you groaned, âI know heâs not right for me butâŚsometimes proximity and being in a relationship for as long as I have is comfortable, yâknow?âÂ
âI donât,â Ernie said bluntly, âIf my lady was away from me for three months Iâd write her letters, Iâd keep that love alive-â he cleared his throat, âtell me, has this boyfriend made sure you got here okay? Sent you a whatever those are calledâŚtexts yet?âÂ
You purse your lips together, it seemed everyoneâs conversations had ended and they were all looking at you. You looked over at Nat who nodded sadly, knowing the answer already because you had already told her.Â
âNo,â you whispered, âheâŚhe didnât want me coming because he doesnât like me around my friends âcauseâŚâ you looked up at Nat again, not wanting to air out everything in front of these people you barely know, thereâs layers to these things and you didnât want ruin this weekend by talking about your shitty boyfriend again.Â
Ernie sighed, âtake it from me,â he tipped his bottle towards you, âa lot of people say life is short but when youâre aware youâre in a mistake it feels like a million lifetimes,â he took a long swig, âslowly withering away.âÂ
You took a shaky breath and stood up, âIâm also going to hit the hay, see you all tomorrow.âÂ
Half an hour later you were sitting on the corner of your bed, sobbing into your hands as you tried to keep quiet. You could feel this weight from your chest release but also it felt like a heavy blanket was weighing you down, you could barely sit up straight or breathe.Â
Five years of a high school sweetheart wasted, all because you told him you didnât like that he didnât check up on you. The things he called you, the names. Those names pressed harder on your chest, squishing you down until you were gasping for air while tears streamed down your face. All of your senses were becoming distorted, your vision was slowly losing focus and you couldnât see out of your peripheral vision, the feeling of your fingers scratching down your neck felt like TV static, everything sounded like you were underwater.Â
ây/n?â The door burst open and you could only hear your name being called from underwater, from his long brown hair tied up being the only thing you could register, you knew it was Bucky. He took your hand that was tugging down your throat to try and create air hole and placed it on his own chest, he took your other hand and held with his, after making sure you could keep your hand on his chest by yourself he cupped your cheek, âbreathe, honey, you have to breathe,â he could feel his rapid heartbeat, it wasnât helping like it normally does.Â
âI-â you managed to hack out, trying so hard to gain control. He gently tapped your face to try and bring you back, you couldnât hear him talking over the pounding in your ears but you knew he was trying. Thrashing out, you wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him close, feeling things begin to settle when he held you tightly.Â
âYou are very safe,â he spoke directly into your ear as he held you close, âyou are safe with me, alright?âÂ
âOkay,â you whimpered, balling up his t-shirt as you breathed in his scent which lowered your heart rate. âWe broke up,â you gritted your teeth, âI called him a while ago.âÂ
Bucky pulled out of the hug but kept his hands on you, âhow did that happen?âÂ
âI didnât like how he didnât check in on me,â you looked down at your lap, âand IâŚand he bit back and called me names and I just had enough, so I broke up with him and he screamed at me,â you let out a wet laugh, âI froze and his voice sounded so crisp it was like he was standing in front of me so I didnât hang up, he just kept going until I snapped out of it.âÂ
âDo you want to come sleep in my bed?â Bucky brushed away your tears, âjust so youâre not alone?âÂ
âOkay,â you timidly stood up.Â
âWe will be stopping for five minutes at the Main Station, please take your time getting off and remember to take all your personal belongings with you, have a nice rest of your day, thank you.âÂ
You sat up straight and got off the bus, heading out into the main area and looking up at the screens to try and find your train platform number. You walked around for a while and noticed it was number 14 but you had time, so you got yourself a snack while you waited beside the tracks with a few other people. After sending Bucky another text you looked down the tracks and snacked on your cream cheese bagel, patiently waiting for the light to appear in the distance.Â
********
The house was already buzzing with family members, they were all asking about if you were going to be there. Apparently your mother had told them about you, you had met Buckyâs immediate family but no cousins or grandparents yet; this would be the big day.Â
âSo youâre making her take a train and a bus to get here when you could have stayed back one more day?â Buckyâs uncle was already tipsy, for some reason getting upset and the situation.Â
ây/n and I both talked and we agreed this was best for the both of us,â Bucky sighed in annoyance as you took another sip of his beer, âIâm driving her home next week and picking her up form the station today, soâŚâ Bucky rolled his eyes and headed into the kitchen to find his mom plating all the appetizers.Â
Winnie looked up and smiled, âcould you be a doll and bring this out?â she nudged the spinach dip, Bucky nodded and picked it up. âIs everything alright?âÂ
Bucky looked around to make sure no one was in earshot, âcan people just stay out of my relationship?â he whispered while he walked around the island to get near his mom, âI mean, my God, we arenât going to crash and burn just because she wanted to go to two very important classes which makes her have to come up today,â Bucky placed his beer down, âit's just everyone is on my ass about it and itâs starting to piss me off.âÂ
Winnie nodded, âyouâre the oldest out of this generation in the family Bucky, all your cousins are younger than you and youâre the first to introduce a girl,â Winnie cupped his face, âpeople are just excited thereâs fresh meat, I bet you any money theyâll swarm her when she shows up.âÂ
âThat is the exact opposite of what I want to happen,â Bucky leaned against the counter and crossed his arm, Winnie stepped in front of him. âHave you mentioned in the e-mail about-â
âYes, I have,â she scrunched her nose, âno one will make a single comment about what or how much y/n eats, no one will mention anything of the sort.âÂ
Bucky let out a deep breath and rolled his shoulders back, âI want this to be enjoyable for her,â Bucky looked at his mom who was nodding, âyâknow, I want her to like my family but I also know the sheer number of Barnesâ can make anyone feel cornered, and when she feels cornered sheâŚâ Bucky rubbed the back of his neck, âand the last time she was here she broke up with her previous boyfriend,â Winnie placed her hand on his clenched jaw - making him relax it.
Her eyes flicked between Buckyâs, âyou get protective and this anxious when she does, you hear?â Bucky nodded again, âright now, you are going to put that bowl on the coffee table and then come back for the chips as well as the pigs in the blanket and then you will go pick up your lovely girlfriend,â Winnie spoke softly and Bucky closed his eyes, âand you wonât crawl all over her with information and you wonât be glued to her hip all day, you canât be the one to corner her, alright?âÂ
Bucky bit his bottom lip, âI love you, Ma.â he pulled her in for a hug, âI got really lucky with you, didnât I?âÂ
Winnie chuckled, âI'm speaking from experience of meeting your fatherâs parents back then,â she sassed, ânow go run all that stuff,â she waved him away.Â
After putting everything out and finding George, his dad, Bucky got the keys to the truck and headed out. He brought a blanket for the passenger seat as the window in the old truck didnât fully close and the heaters didnât work. Bucky kept one hidden in the truck for himself when he was driving his dad's car.Â
********
It had been five minutes since you got off the bus, you were shaking as you stood in the parking lot. Your arms folded over one another and you bounced in spot to keep from freezing solid, nothing helped with the outfit you were wearing. The train had the nicer bathrooms so you changed there, pulling on black tights to go under and a chunky wool dress that seemed like an oversized sweater; something Bucky would wear.Â
The cabin was in the woods and a little more North, making it colder than campus even though the winter was not completely gone yet. Spring break was more like the end of winter break for where you lived, but a break was a break.Â
A truck pulled in and flashed its headlights, you ran up and opened the door. Bucky looked nice with his dark green flannel, black shirt complimenting his hair and eyes. You lunged over the center console and hugged him, his hands pulling you as tight as he could.Â
âYou look so pretty,â he whispered, âyouâre going to have my eight year old cousin wrapped around your finger,â he laughed as he took your duffle bag and threw it in the back seat. After you got settled in, Bucky drove away, taking one hand off the wheel to place on your thigh.Â
âSo,â you sighed, âwhat do I need to know?âÂ
Bucky laughed, âyouâll find out soon enough,â he briefly looked over at you, âjust-...â Bucky scratched his stubble that was growing in, âI have a lot of family members and I was talking to my mom about this,â Bucky looked over once he stopped at the red light, âyouâre the first person someone has brought home, Iâm the first to have a girlfriend and bring her to a family thing soâŚâ
âGo on,â you cupped his cheek.Â
âThey are going to be all over you,â he admitted, âthey already are and you werenât there yet,â he pushed out a laugh, âso Iâm not trying to scare you or anything, I just want to to be prepared and if you start feeling anxious just tell me, weâll take a second outside, okay?âÂ
You nodded, âthatâs lovely Bucky,â you smiled wide, âyou talked to Winnie for advice about me,â you cooed and scratched his cheek when he got extremely red, âI love that, baby, thank you.âÂ
âAndâŚâ Bucky swallowed hard, âI just want full disclosure with this,â he turned down a dirt path, âI ask them to keep comments about food to a minimum, I just want you to know that.âÂ
Your lips parted with a gasp, âreally?â he looked over like he was in trouble but was met with you melt into your seat, âI really appreciate that, lovey, thank you.âÂ
The moment you stepped foot in the cabin you were greeted with loud chatter coming from another room, Bucky called out and you heard Winnie call back. Bucky took your bags from you and also hung up your jacket, smiling as he gave you suggestive eyebrows when he saw your full look, it was becoming a running joke between the two of you.Â
Winnie ran over with her apron on, she held her arms out for a hug and you gladly fell into it. You had met George and Winnie a few times before, it was easy to find out that Bucky was a copy and paste of Winnie, everything about him was the same. She took your arm and stole you away from Bucky, taking you into the kitchen with her.Â
âSo,â she opened the fridge, âI picked up those ingredients you sent me, they are all over in their little corner,â she pointed to the top right, âdinner is going to be early so whenever you need to start just go ahead, alright?âÂ
âSounds good,â you nodded. Before heading into the busy living room you were pouring yourself a glass of white wine, âGeorge, nice to see you!â you reached out for a hug and he gladly accepted.Â
âYou got your work all done?â He asked as he took out another beer for himself, âBucky told us you two two tutorials?âÂ
âYep,â you took a small sip, âI was confused about the lesson and I didnât want to be thinking about it this entire week so I thought I would clear it up for the big celebration,â you giggled until you quickly realized something, âhas it arrived, by the way?âÂ
George couldnât contain his smile, âit has, itâs going to be in your spare room under the bed.âÂ
âPerfect,â you raised your eyebrows, took your glass, and headed into the loudest room in the house.Â
********
Repeating the same conversations over and over bored you like crazy, you didnât know how many times you had to go over your entire life story until the entire room was on the same page. It was the same thing every time.Â
You were standing by yourself with your second glass in your hand, what looked like an uncle had locked eyes with you and was coming over. You smoothed down your dress and smiled back, when he walked up he shook your hand and then faced the group before the both of you.Â
âHow are you liking the family so far?â simply from the way he talked you started to figure out who his kids were, you could also tell he was on Buckyâs dadâs side. His posture was almost perfect, a sweater tied around his neck and hanging off his back like a cape.Â
âIâve met some of you guys before, just in passing, but seeing everyone together is very sweet,â you giggled and looked over at Bucky who was showing his eldest grandpa something on his phone.Â
âWhat are you studying?â he asked and took a sip of what looked like whiskey, it was odd because almost everyone else was drinking wine or a beer from the bottle.Â
âPsychology,â you said for the ninth time, âbut Iâm definitely going back to school after, to specify.âÂ
âHuh,â he poked his tongue against his cheek, looking around the room again. He seemed to be waiting for something, he fixed his posture and you tried to look at where he was looking but nothing could be found. âI have my PhD,â he leaned down and added when you didnât ask.Â
âWhen did you defend it?â your eyes lit up, âiâve always wanted to watch one happen in real life, itâs so amazing what you guys can remember and work with on the spot, Iâd be too nervous,â you laughed and brough your glass up to your lips.Â
He seemed to grow red very quickly, âI havenât defended it yet, IâmâŚâ he paused, âIâm close to submission on my paper.âÂ
âOh,â you nodded, âso you donât have it yet?â You couldnât help but laugh a bit at the way he was trying to get out of the hole he dug himself into, he was far from actually having his PhD. part of you felt like he already had people call him Doctor.Â
âI donât,â he gritted out, âIâm going to grab a beer.âÂ
********
You were working away in the kitchen to make your little desserts for everyone, Winnie had taken her break and was mingling with everyone else. Bucky joined you not too long after to simply sit and watch, he watched you in silence as you looked back and forth between the recipe and the bowl in front of you.Â
âI love it when you talk to yourself,â Bucky muttered, âyouâre adorable.âÂ
âShut up,â you grabbed the whisk and started mixing.Â
You and Bucky stayed together in comfortable silence, both of you had done tons of talking already and just being near one another was enough. He had this calming presence that worked even when you werenât aware you were up tight, it seemed his aura lowered your heart rate no matter what.Â
People would come in and out to fill their drinks or see what was going on in here, a lot asked if they could help but you kindly declined. The music could be heard from the kitchen but not the living room, you bopped around as you placed the cookie mix onto the cookie sheet.Â
At one point Bucky made his way around the island and towards you, picking up your wine glass and going to the fridge. He filled it and added ice cubes when you asked, making you smile to yourself as he softly replied. You looked over your shoulder to see him move swiftly but with care, slowly dropping them in so it didnât bang against the glass or cause the wine to splash up.Â
His hands made their way around your middle, you plunked the cookie dough on the sheet as his head dropped to your shoulder and stayed there for a while. His entire body was pressed up against you, Bucky just swayed as you worked. Every once in a while heâd place a soft kiss to your shoulder to reach around to tuck some hair behind your ear, nothing that got in your way or annoyed you.Â
âI think itâs almost dinner,â Bucky whispered, giving you a squeeze.Â
âCan I sit beside you?â you joked, looking over your shoulder to see his smiling face. It was a no brainer but you still found it sweet he nodded quickly. âI also think this is going to be my last drink,â you took a sip, âitâs really nice but Iâm getting tipsy,â you both laughed.Â
Bucky let go and took the tray to place in the oven, âmy dad always breaks out the whisky at night,â he shook his head to himself, obviously remembering something, âbeer makes me happy and funny drunk while whisky makes me all needy and clingy, get ready for that.â he walked over again, âI mean it.âÂ
âYou already are a grade A clinger,â you pecked his lips, âlooks like youâll be miserable with me in the guest bedroom.âÂ
Bucky quickly shook his head, ânu-uh, Iâm sneaking in or bringing you with me, Iâm going to fall asleep on top of you, Iâm calling it now.âÂ
Everyone made their way into the dining room, you found your spot beside Bucky and looked around at all the food in front of you. For a moment you were overwhelmed but Buckyâs hand was swiftly placed on your thigh, when you looked over Bucky wasnât even looking at you, he was talking to his gramps again.Â
As the food was passed around you put enough on your plate, getting coy when Bucky gave you a bun without asking. Little conversations began to build but you and Bucky stayed in your own little world, whispering to each other and laughing as if you were out on a date with no one else around.Â
After a while Buckyâs youngest cousin began to ask you questions, it was much more entertaining than the adults. She asked if you had any imaginary friends or dogs, everyone laughed as she rapidly fired questions.Â
âDo you and Bucky love each other?â the little girl asked.Â
âVery much so,â you giggled and leaned into Bucky, he kissed your temple.Â
âSoâŚâ she lost her train of thought, âdo you and Bucky kiss?âÂ
Everyone laughed and Bucky answered, âsometimes,â causing the room to awkwardly laugh.Â
The eight your old tucked her chin into her neck, âdo you hold hands?âÂ
You lifted your hand to show you were already holding it, bringing your other hand up to sip your wine.Â
âDo you have sex?âÂ
Immediately spat out.Â
The white wine sprayed all over the kidâs face and food that people were eating, everyone erupted into belly laughs, including Bucky, but you stared horrified at the little girl crying in front of everyone. Your hand covered your mouth as you sat in shock, the little girlâs mother scolded her for asking that and wiped her face off with a decorative napkin.Â
âThat was too good!â the PhD faker slapped his knee, everyone agreed except you.Â
You sat in horror as everyone calmed down and worked around their infected meals, you just curled up and kept your head down. The last thing you wanted was for this to become a household story that will show up next year, the embarrassment made your entire body boiling hot. You reached over and grabbed Buckyâs ice water, taking a couple gulps which also meant he looked over at you.Â
âNo,â he whispered, âno stress hives,â he rubbed his thumb down your neck, âbaby, itâs okay,â you didnât listen as you kept drinking his water, feeling him rub your back as you tried to cool down.Â
Occasionally someone would laugh, all you thought about was the kid being wiped down in the nearest bathroom, it looked like a whale breached right beside her. She probably didnât know what that meant and had run out of questions, she was so cute when asking other questions you knew she was coming from a good heart but not the right definition; she must have meant to say something else.Â
You kept to yourself for the rest of dinner, not really engaging in the conversations and no one talked to you anyways. Eating quickly, you finished with enough time to get the cookies out of the oven and have a moment alone in the kitchen. You found another cup and filled it with ice water, letting Bucky keep his own glass.Â
âHere are the cookies,â Bucky called as you walked in with the platter, âyou guys, theyâre amazing,â he took some of the plates away from the people who were done, âdoes anyone want coffee or tea?âÂ
âOh, Buck, I can do that,â George stood up from the head of the table, âstay here, alright?âÂ
Bucky sat down and was quick to pluck a cookie for himself, making sure you saw him eat it and encouraging other people to eat as well. They all began to snack away, quickly looking at you with wide eyes; they were a hit!
âItâs a very old recipe,â you smiled.Â
âTell them the story,â Bucky nudged your arm.Â
âWell,â you smoothed out your placemat in front of you, âMy mom and I were moving out of this apartment complex because they were tearing it down for someâŚI donât know, high rise,â you looked around to see everyone intensively listening, âand so when they were in the middle of construction my mom and I went back to check it out and it turned around there was this cookie recipe that seemed weird on paper with all the ingredients but we gave it a shot, it was old and crumpled up but you could buy it all at the store,â you took another bite, âso when we told people my momâs friend said that it was probably used as insulation because our complex was old and people used to use news papers,â you laughed, âso we think this recipe literally came from the inside of a wall because my mom and I were in the rubble when we found it.âÂ
âIsn't that crazy?â Bucky laughed and took another, âwhen I first heard it, I was like maybe it was keeping you guys warm the entire time, maybe it was next to old newspapers that kept you guys warm?â He slung his arm around you.Â
âWhy couldnât you guys get real insulating stuff?â one of the teen cousins asked.Â
âIt was an old building,â you took a sip of water.Â
âYeah but like,â he paused and scrunched up his face, âcouldnât they fix it, make it with modern materials?âÂ
You thought about it though you knew the answer. You held yourself back from saying it was the cheapest building on the block but you instead smiled and said, âIâll give you the landlordâs number, you can set him straight.âÂ
Everyone laughed and the PhD guy chimed in, âdoes this recipe call for you to spray anything in it, because I donât know if thatâs a culture thing,â he chuckled, and the rest of the group laughed.Â
You could feel the heat spreading around your neck again, âha, ha,â you smiled through it, âIâll never live that down, will I?âÂ
âItâs such a funny story, Iâll tell that one instead of that recipe one for next time,â he had the audacity to wink at you. His smile fell quickly, you hadnât given him a face but when you looked over your shoulder to see Bucky beside you, it was clear.Â
If looks could kill.Â
********
You had called it a night a while ago, curled up in bed after finishing some work. Most of the family had left before it got too dark, not wanting to drive out of the lonesome woods in the middle of the night. Bucky stayed down for a while, of course drinking his whisky with his dad.Â
âIt could have been worse,â you said out loud as you looked at your duffle bag sitting on the chair in the corner of the room. Nothing was perfect but you had made friends with Buckyâs family and learned a lot, they seemed to really like you and not swarm as much as you thought.Â
Hearing heavy footsteps coming up the stairs you listened close, smiling to yourself when you were able to label them as Buckyâs footsteps. Your back was to the door but you still closed your eyes, wanting to see what heâd do if he saw you sleeping. The door cracked open and you heard a gasp, he was drunk and needy.Â
His hands slipped under your curled frame and picked you up, âmy sack of potatoes,â he whispered to himself and left the room, turning off the light. When you were tossed onto his bed you opened your eyes, Bucky was taking off his shirt and nice pants.Â
âAre you really going to-â he cut you off as he slipped under the sheets and laid right on you, just like he said he would. His face nuzzled into your chest and his arms held you close, you couldnât help but play with his hair and watch how fast he fell asleep. âIt's your birthday soon,â you whispered, âyouâll get your present soon.âÂ
Bucky held you impossibly closer, âitâs already here, baby.â

Summary: After a night of heavy drinking, Bucky tries to piece together everything that happened. He vows never to get that drunk again

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader Â
Warnings: Alcohol consumption, mentions of pain/ discomfort
From the moment Bucky woke, he felt like he had been hit by Thorâs hammer. Everything ached, his stomach was ready to be violently ill if he moved and someone was playing the drum solo to Wipeout on the inside of his skull. Judging by the groans around him, there were other victims from last nightâs festivities or zombies had invaded the tower. Bucky didnât really care if it were the latter as long as they made his death a quick one and put him out of his misery. He tried to ask if anyone else felt like melted death but it only came out as a garbled sound. It clearly must have been enough to illicit a response.
âShh,â Clint hissed, clutching his head.
âShut up, youâre practically screaming,â Tony groaned.
âWhat⌠what happened last night?â Bucky asked, swallowing the bile that had risen in the back of his throat.
 âDonât you remember?â
Bucky tried hard but there was a huge chunk of last night that was missing. Maybe if he followed the breadcrumbs backwards, they might lead a trail back to the beginning but that would have to wait until the pain behind his eyes subsided. There would also be a level of panic once he realised his metal arm was no longer attached to his body.
âŚ
By the time Buckyâs hangover had turned bearable, he was finally starting to remember what had led to him drinking so much. Tony had a little party for all you Avengers which Thor had brought Asgardian ale to. It was fun for a little while but then someone had suggested a drinking game and that was the last part he could remember. You and Bruce had wisely turned in early for the night but with the groupâs last two braincells leaving them, they got rather⌠stupid.
 âMorning everyone,â you greeted.
The hungover Avengers greeted you like a vampire to garlic.
âI see we havenât fully recovered from all the fun of last night,â you commented, making your coffee.
âYeah, about that⌠What⌠what exactly happened?â Bucky asked.
âYou donât remember? No, that doesnât surprise me. You would be horrified if you did that sober,â you giggled.
Bucky went white. What exactly had he done? As if reading his mind, you decided to start filling in some of the blanks.
âLetâs start with the voicemails, shall we?â
 âH-how many did I leave?â
âItâs hard to say⌠between the voicemails, the text messages, and the videos, I lost countâŚâ
 âV-videos?â
âIâll show you them after this,â you replied, playing the first message from earlier in the night.
Bucky: Hi, Y/N. I just want to say that I think youâre really smart for going to bed early and youâre also really pretty andâŚ
Sam *in the background*: Dude just ask her out already!
Bucky: I canât just ask her over the phone
Sam *in the background*: Ask her!
 Bucky: No!
 *Sound of thudding*
Bucky remembered Sam tackling him, trying to get him to confess his feelings for you. He wanted to confess, really he did but he didnât think itâd be appropriate when he completely plastered. Bucky looked over at you to see you giving him a sly grin.
 âWhat?â
âNothing. Letâs move onto my favourite videoâŚâ
Bucky wasnât sure he liked the way you said that. He could watch in horror as you played the video.
It started off with a little bad camera work before it came into focus on Bucky who was standing up on the bar.
âThis oneâs for you, Y/N,â he slurred, pointing to the camera.
The song The Stripper came on and Bucky started taking off his shirt. The others all cheered and catcalled and Nat cackled from behind the camera. Bucky took his shirt off and twirled it above his head before flinging it off to some unknown corner. He next tried to undo his pants and managed to get them open but then fell off the bar.
 âYou okay, Barnes?â Nat called.
Bucky gave a thumbâs up before falling back down.
The video ended there. Bucky felt absolutely mortified.
âWait, so when did I lose my arm?â
âHold on, I think I have the video where you were showing offâŚâ
Bucky placed his hand on yours to stop you scrolling. Suddenly, all the stupid things he did last night in an attempt to win you over came back to him. Nobody stopped him, instead, they only encouraged it.
âI⌠I feel like I should explainâŚâ he began but you placed a finger on his lips.
âNo need. Often when weâre drunk, our most honest selves are on displayâŚâ
âWell, I am never drinking Asgardian ale and getting that drunk again,â Bucky sighed.
You kissed his cheek, making him look at you in surprise.
âI thought it was cute. A little misguided maybe but I guess you needed a little liquid courage to confess your true feelings,â you baited, hoping now that everything was out in the open he would tell you what was on his mind.
âY/N, I would really like to take you out sometimeâŚâ he softly smiled.
âIâd like that too, Bucky,â you smiled back. âIâd kiss you but you smell like a dumpster fireâŚâ
âNo, no, I get it. Weâll go when Iâm not feeling like death warmed overâŚâ
âItâs a date,â you smiled, heading off to check on the damages left by the carnage that was last night.
Bucky was glad he could finally confess his feelings for you but he promised himself he would never get that stupid drunk again.
Summary: Bucky gets drunk and spills a few secrets
IMPORTANT: Reader has magic teleporting powers, and doesnât drink, at all.
The team had convinced Bucky to come to the team bonding night, this months was karaoke and drinks at a bar nearby. By âthe team convincedâ it was more like you and a little bit of Samâs teasing. You loved your super soldier to death but, he did need to get out more. You werenât evil though, you knew he would have fun, if for no other reason than seeing you sing and dance.
You put the last touches on your make up for the night and stepped back to admire your work in the mirror. Then you felt one warm hand and one cold, metal hand wrap around your waist, âMmm, doll, you look absolutely breathtaking, makinâ me not want to go tonight.â âCome on Buck, you promised, plus Thorâs bringing the Asgardian stuff so you can let loose, and go wild.â Bucky smirked, âalright doll, but only âcause I get to see you shake that pretty ass.â He gave your butt a slap, you laughed and shook your head at your boyfriendâs antics. You complimented his outfit and you both headed to the main room where most of the team was waiting, but you werenât the last ones there. âLookinâ good hot stuff,â Tony fake flirted, yet Bucky still got a little riled up, so you gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. âThanks Tones but youâre not my type, I prefer 100 year old men who also happen to have a slight staring problem that I love, ooh and having a metal arm just makes them perfect.â Bucky rolled his eyes as you kissed him on the cheek. The last of the group arrives and you guys drive to the bar.
It had been a few drinks for everyone but you and people started to really let loose. You, Wanda and Nat did a rendition of âDancing Queenâ and âBang Bangâ and you made sure Bucky saw you doing that second one, there were a few guys watching you 3 so that song. You were sober but you could keep up, and werenât afraid of embarrassing yourself. Drunk Bucky was super outgoing, and was more like 40s Bucky. He convinced Steve to do âChattanooga Choo Chooâ a song from 1941, which Bucky loved from before the war and everything happened. You loved it and reminded yourself to ask him to sing more, his voice was amazing and soothing. Then it was time to go home, you had to deal with a bunch of drunk Avengers, it happened every time. With your magic, you sent everyone but Bucky to their beds, you promised Bucky you would take care of and look after him. You stood him up and walked him to the car, the ride home wasâŚinteresting.
âWow, youâre like really hotâ he slurred, âwait, I canât say that I have a girlfriend, sheâs really hot too,â âI am your girlfriend, loveâ you chuckled. âWhaaa? Howâd I get so lucky, hmmm I love youâ you replied with an âI love you tooâ and continue me driving, after a minute he started up again, âdo ya wanna know a secret?â âSure love,â you say, now intrigued by his words. âIâm gonna marry ya doll.â His Brooklyn accent was coming out more with him being drunk, you loved it. âReally?â You questioned, playing along with his game. âYuh huh, Iâve got the ring and everything doll, just gotta find the right moment, make it special.â You smiled, drunk Bucky was a character, you should get him drunk more often.
âAlright love, we gotta get you into some pajamas,â you gently cooed, after getting him into your shared bedroom. You finally got him out of his jeans and leather jacket, and into some sweats, you didnât even want to try getting a new shirt onto your drunk super soldier. It took a lot of kisses and promises of cuddles but you did it. You then got ready for bed and put out a glass of water and some super soldier strength pain killers for Bucky when he woke up with a massive hangover. Once you got in bed Bucky snuggled up against you and you both fell asleep.
âMorning Love,â you said, giving Bucky a kiss on the cheek. Bucky just groaned in response, he reached over and drank the water and meds. You go up and grabbed you both breakfast, coffee, eggs, bacon, and toast with fruit. Bucky thanked you and got to eating. âSo doll, how bad was I last night?â âOh not too bad, you were clingy which I found very adorable and you admitted a secret to me.â âWhat secret? I donât keep anything from ya doll, we donât keep secrets from each other.â He said, acting like a confused puppy when their owner leaves. âSo, do I get to see the ring, or just hear about it?â Buckyâs face was full of relief that it wasnât some major relationship breaking secret he had forgotten about, but there was also a hint of regret since he couldnât surprise and ask you romantically. âDoll, Iâm so sorry, I wants to do a big romantic gesture like you deserve but drunk me just had to go and fuck it up.â You looked at him sympathetically, âBuck, I donât care about any of that, I just want to marry you, and I will, no matter how you askâ You gave him a kiss as he got up, grabbed the ring from a drawer and got on one knee, âDoll, I want to properly get down on one knee and ask, will you make me the happiest and luckiest man in all the worlds and marry me?â He still looked scarred that you would reject him, even after just saying you wanted to marry him. âYes Bucky, I would be honored.â He slid the ring on and picked you up. He then kissed you and twirled you around. âI love you doll.â âI love you too Buck.â Who knew this romantic moment would all stem from some good olâ Drunken Love, god you loved drunk Bucky sometimes.
