What even is the mystery of the druids?
The mystery is that when I played Dragon Warrior on NES, this thing now called a "Lunatick" was called a Druin:
And as a kid, I wasn't 100% on letters or memory so when I saw or heard the word "Druid" this is what I pictured. When people told me the druids made Stonehenge or worshiped nature or whatever, I assumed there was a real world version of these things.
No unreality or joke here, I thought that 'til I was like 12.

I just finished reading Kings of the Wyld, and Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames (highly highly recommended). I had a hard time picturing Druins though. I’ve found a few online since then, but no female druins, or older druins with the droopy ears. So here’s my quick sketch of Astra, the Winter Queen, so help me picture her better. Hope this helps others too

What kind of name is ‘legerdeman?’ What is that? I don’t get that name. Anyways, I think I’ve got a better grasp of crosshatching than I did last time.
Lunatick presented a challenge for me because I wasn’t sure how to cross-hatch over that many curves. I like this thing because it’s so weird and spacey. The aesthetic for Dragon Quest is pretty consistently medieval for the settings and character designs but then sometimes the monsters are weird scifi things, and yet they don’t seem out of place. The consistent artstyle just blends it all together nicely.
