The way StarChaser ended might have made me more sad than the book it's self. As a person who cares to much about the well being of all the characters it hurts not knowing what happens to everyone. We don't even really get to know about Marcia or Septimus. Or what about Driffa. What happens over in her side of the world? And what's happening between Driffa and Septimus?
yeah!! and like, the thing is, some books need to just end. for some books, there really shouldn’t be an epilogue. but septimus heap is not one of those series. we’ve had good character epilogues from the very beginning. so to not have that now at the end is really a let down. i love them!! i want to know what happens!!
and i don’t even know what to think of the whole driffa/septimus thing. see, even though i ship septyrah, if angie wanted to introduce a love interest for him in pathfinder, i would have been game. the problem is, she was barely a character, and completely not present in sandrider. i couldn’t even give you a single headcanon of what her and sep would be like together because they just?? didn’t?? have scenes together?? if you want me to get behind a girlfriend for our series’ main character, you have to sell me. you have to show me why.
but it’s also weird because?? they didn’t even get together?? they just kinda had weird tension and called each other attractive, and that was it. like, it was no where near being canon, so why was it even there in the first place? and how would that work? she lives in the eastern snow plains and kinda needs to stay there, and he lives in the castle and kinda needs to stay there. i just. i really don’t know what the thought process behind that whole mess was.
OK, so I know some people are confused about Driffa saying that Septimus belongs to "another princess, a grumpy one with dark hair."
OK, so the way I interpreted it was that Jenna is the protective-sister who, honestly, doesn't like Driffa. Jenna and Sep don't look anything alike, and never mentioned being siblings, so I'm pretty sure Driffa thinks they're relationship is romantic when actually Jenna is just a ridiculously protective sister. That's why Marcia was confused because ??? Sep has a new girlfriend? OK, whatever.
